Rough-ish season, finishing in the last place above relegation – but somehow I always had enough points' margin that it never really got sweaty. Happy to have avoided the yoyoing for a few seasons.

Don't forget to submit on the first day of the Film Production ML if you signed up for it.

that one looked fun, but I didn't have time for it. I am surprised at how well I am doing in the California ML for someone who has never lived there.
― jaymc, Saturday, 3 August 2024 01:20 (five months ago) link
LOL you're in first while I, a lifelong Californian, am only in 3rd.

Good match, Lee! Potassium was a guess for me, but it felt right.

Thanks, for that question I realize that I've only ever read up on composting and not fertilizers, so instead went with carbon. I was a little surprised to see that you missed the French question, though I may have fallen into the "If I know it, most people know it" trap?
― Oedipal Issues, Adipose Tissues (Leee), Friday, 6 September 2024 16:46 (four months ago) link
Yes that trap is an extremely common one, for me anyway.

I have heard of the title dauphin, but would not have been able to tell you what it referred to. I figured the answer had to be "Prince of" something, which I completed with "Versailles."
― jaymc, Friday, 6 September 2024 21:43 (four months ago) link
So TIMOTHY and especially MARAT/SADE

did not get timothy tho
― mookieproof, Wednesday, 11 September 2024 15:42 (four months ago) link
Not sure how I knew timothy, tbh -- I went through some men's names and it vaguely rang a bell.
Ended up with a Buckner tie, 5(4)-5(2), because I assigned my opponent a 0 on multitudes (second-easiest question of the day), a 1 on Antarctica (easiest question of the day), and a 1 on Marat/Sade (he has a .781 in Theatre), and he missed all of them, but got the Spain and golf questions right.
― jaymc, Wednesday, 11 September 2024 15:56 (four months ago) link
That's quite a coincidence, because I got 3 for multitudes, and my opponent missed it despite a 0.600+ Literature score. And today's opponent, with a Literature score in the high 0.800s, also missed it. Meanwhile, the entirety of our rundle went 84% on it.

never heard of timothy grass in my life
i have heard of marat/sade but would never have pulled it
i did feel slightly dumb for not getting dauphin once i saw the answer but again i doubt i ever would have remembered it

I've encountered him several times over the years, suffice to say I defriended him on Facebook quite some time ago and he's generally edged himself out to the furthest fringes of the bits of the international quiz community I frequent.
― ailsa, Monday, 23 September 2024 08:37 (three months ago) link
I usually do a good job of actually reading the question, but in the 1DS on Pitchfork reviews, I answered "The Strokes" and "The Beach Boys" instead of "Is This It" and "Pet Sounds." Dumb! But even though those were the only two I missed, getting them right would've only been good enough for a tie at 52nd.
