I started out Round 1 in 64th place due to atrociously bad moneying which, sadly, is a theme that will continue throughout the rounds.

Though, thinking to myself: "Hmm, Thorsten might ask a question about Bridgerton, maybe I should learn the rudiments of it" about an hour before my scheduled match is my proudest moment in trivia history.

The championship is done with someone watching you over a Zoom call.

I ended up finishing 79th, fine enough though disappointing given that I finished 40th last year. The difference was mostly terrible moneying.

In much more pedestrian developments, my defense has been atrocious this season.

I also got 3 right yesterday but it resulted in an extremely rare instance of winning with 3 correct answers in an A Rundle.

rundle a is relentless. three straight 6/6's last week, three straight ties. lost 5(7) to 5(8) yesterday. i got 5 again today (thank you middle school spanish inquisition project), hopefully that'll be enough

The thing is though that knowing what the subject is ahead of time can lead to questionable behavior -- like if I were sufficiently unscrupulous, I might read up on the subject before I look at the questions and not consider that cheating.

Yeah, I saw but didn’t want to say.

I knew who it was but put "Henry Beecher Stowe." Then, later in the day, but before I submitted, I was reading a book that mentioned Henry Ward Beecher. I stuck to my morals and submitted the wrong answer. Then won anyway because my opponent defended catastrophically badly. Karma!

It took me a second to think if that but it was kind of overdetermined that I would get it right

I answered "Beecher" but if you'd asked me for a first name, I would've said "Lyman" (Henry and Harriet's father).

Yesterday I was in 3rd place and thought for a moment I might get to participate in the LL championship?? But then I lost 6(5)-9(6), and now I'm in 5th. Theoretically, I could still make it, but it seems unlikely.
