Tomie DePaola, a truly great artist.

Today we lost the adored children’s book creator Tomie DePaola who passed away from a head injury. Forever joyful, he was a creator of beauty and a beloved friend. RIP you genius imp. pic.twitter.com/v8mC2O56PH

Looking up something else and stumbled across the fact that songwriter, Bill Martin, died on 26th March, at age 81. Quite an interesting career:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_Martin_(songwriter)

First thing to note is the 1970 England World Cup team's song, "Back Home", was written by a Scotsman and an Irishman!

Bridge Over Thorley Waters (Tom D.), Tuesday, 31 March 2020 13:49 (four years ago) link

even more shocking

The song was also a hit in Ireland, reaching number two in the charts there.[3]

Veteran tech journalist Jack Schofield

Well, absolutely fuck 2020. The peerless @jackschofield has died. He was so kind and welcoming to me and everyone in tech journalism and PR. I just finished editing his last piece for me yesterday. I loved him dearly and the world is poorer without him. Go well, Jack.

With a heavy heart I have just found out, (through his son Ryan), that his father Eddie Large has passed away, I worked many times with him and his partner Sid, they were not only a great act, but such fun to be with! Our thoughts and prayers goes to Patsy and Ryan and family xx pic.twitter.com/pRo2Or29YQ

Eddie Large, part of inexplicably popular 70s/80s comedy act Little and Large.

Had had heart failure, contracted COVID in hospital and wasn't strong enough to fight it.

Such a weird time in UK TV when when comedians and singers from working men's clubs got primetime slots and became household names.

In 2013, Large released his first single without Little, a parody of "Je t'aime... moi non plus" by Serge Gainsbourg entitled "Gee Musky... Moi Non Plus".[citation needed]

Syd's autobiography makes pretty clear it was inexplicable to them too why it was them and not other acts.

inexplicable to me too, although I remember actually watching their show in the 90s, so past me belongs to that different country as much as they do.
