There will be uproar if this gets overturned.

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:42 (four years ago) link

Ah, rats.

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:43 (four years ago) link

Bogus.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:43 (four years ago) link

Looked level.

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:43 (four years ago) link

This is horrible.

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:44 (four years ago) link

Really uncomfortable to watch

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:45 (four years ago) link

Yeah. Not bothering with the rest of the match, this is a fucking cluster.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:47 (four years ago) link

England are rattled.

Dan Worsley, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:48 (four years ago) link

lol i popped to the shops during half time and come back and it's worse

Rory end to the lowenbrow (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:49 (four years ago) link

Maybe not too rattled.

Dan Worsley, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:51 (four years ago) link

commentators maybe over-hyping that set piece

Rory end to the lowenbrow (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:53 (four years ago) link

I think it's fair to say that while Gary Neville has become more likeable since the end of his playing career his brother has followed the opposite trajectory

or something, Sunday, 23 June 2019 16:58 (four years ago) link

these things are relative but yes

Rory end to the lowenbrow (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:04 (four years ago) link

This tournament is a total farce

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:11 (four years ago) link

VAR gives FIFA at al even more opportunity to skew matches in favour of wealthier and more important nations and clubs.

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:18 (four years ago) link

... is what I'm getting from all this, beautiful for them.

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:18 (four years ago) link

Completely relative yeah, not saying I actually like G Nev now at all xxp

or something, Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:20 (four years ago) link

VAR makes it less likely that weaker teams get a lucky break, which is fine I guess, but in combination with the rule changes it also means that mistakes weaker teams might make (fluffed clearances, marginally skewed arms, keepers slightly off their lines at penalties etc) are punished with catastrophic consequences.

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:26 (four years ago) link

Indeed, it's going like a dream for FIFA so far.

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:28 (four years ago) link

Roll on, Qatar.

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:31 (four years ago) link

Great end to the game here

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:32 (four years ago) link

That said, I can’t see this being good for viewing figures. Xp

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:32 (four years ago) link

What a miserable slog this has been

Dadjokke (Sgt. Biscuits), Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:34 (four years ago) link

This isn't good for anyone.

Uptown VONC (Le Bateau Ivre), Sunday, 23 June 2019 17:34 (four years ago) link

ilx's take far, far too generous on cameroon

imago, Sunday, 23 June 2019 18:24 (four years ago) link

albeit the ref was a total shambles

imago, Sunday, 23 June 2019 18:25 (four years ago) link

nothing like listening to an hour of English punditry to make you far, far too generous to the opposition

Rory end to the lowenbrow (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 23 June 2019 18:53 (four years ago) link

be that as it may, that was absolute shithouse from them

imago, Sunday, 23 June 2019 18:57 (four years ago) link

Absolutely shocking decision again.

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 19:27 (four years ago) link

Astonishing.

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 19:28 (four years ago) link

Really laughable, feel so bad for these players, it’s a mess

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 23 June 2019 19:28 (four years ago) link

ridiculous, jfc this is a shambles of a tournament

. (Michael B), Sunday, 23 June 2019 19:29 (four years ago) link

Phew

abcfsk, Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:16 (four years ago) link

properly thought they were gonna find a reason not to give that

Screwfix's favourite disco albums (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:27 (four years ago) link

Indeed, you have to assume FIFA are determined that France win this.

Orpheus Knutt (Tom D.), Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:32 (four years ago) link

feel like they just need to get em into the last four then the bums seat themselves

Screwfix's favourite disco albums (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:35 (four years ago) link

They wouldn’t have disallowed their perfectly good first goal if that was the case!

ShariVari, Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:36 (four years ago) link

Yeah if fifa were competent enough to illuminati some team or other into the final they would probably do it in a less insane fashion

Blandford Forum, Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:40 (four years ago) link

idk there was just an *extremely* incorrect fk against brazil as they were bursting into the box

imago, Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:54 (four years ago) link

this ET will be carnage

imago, Sunday, 23 June 2019 20:58 (four years ago) link

nicely taken that

Screwfix's favourite disco albums (DJ Mencap), Sunday, 23 June 2019 21:25 (four years ago) link

eh didn't think cameroon were remotely hard done by. their reactions were p pathetic imo. var during this wc has shown that the price that is paid by the process of getting decisions correct isn't really worth it to the spectacle of the game itself.

oscar bravo, Monday, 24 June 2019 11:01 (four years ago) link

What about the spectacle of screeching about VAR?

I want to change my display name (dan m), Monday, 24 June 2019 11:08 (four years ago) link

and phil neville can stfu acting like he wasn't part of a team where the manager wasn't fine with them chasing a ref around the pitch to get a decision or kicking reyes out of the game whenever they played arsenal

oscar bravo, Monday, 24 June 2019 11:19 (four years ago) link

Suddenly baffled by the US broadcast rights for this thing -- today's matches are on both FS1 and NBCSN, direct competitors.

Manfred Hemming-Hawing (WmC), Monday, 24 June 2019 15:29 (four years ago) link

Ah, I guess NBC has the Spanish-language rights in North America? Looks like NBCSN is simulcasting the Telemundo coverage.

Manfred Hemming-Hawing (WmC), Monday, 24 June 2019 15:33 (four years ago) link

guess what? it's a penalty!

actually this looks like the clearest penalty of the entire tournament so far tbf

imago, Monday, 24 June 2019 16:07 (four years ago) link

yankees are a wrecking machine

findom haddie (jim in vancouver), Monday, 24 June 2019 16:07 (four years ago) link

Lol that explains why my SlingTv broadcast is in Spanish

Got your butt drank (Neanderthal), Monday, 24 June 2019 16:09 (four years ago) link

oh holy shit that was a blunder from the goalie.

an absolute beauty of a strike though. chef kisses fingers stuff

findom haddie (jim in vancouver), Monday, 24 June 2019 16:10 (four years ago) link
