nerdstrom's entire posting style was out of the troll playbook, down to his dodges and subject changes and attempted judo flips when he got called out for it, and repeated refusal to address the substance of the objections to his posting style. if he didn't read that way to you, all i can say is that he got 51'ed, and as evidenced by the survival of morbz, you don't get to 51 if just a few people perceive you as a troll.

exactly, and other than treeship, who is just too kind a soul for his own good, it's pretty clear that most of the objections are coming from people who haven't really interacted with the guy. the comparisons to people like fred and mordy are frankly ridiculous -- sure, they are frequent dissenters on those threads, and ok, in fred's case especially, he seems to delight in the attention that receives, but there is a basic intelligence, humor, and humanity there that makes them valuable members of the community. nerdstrom, in addition to barely being able write in complete sentences, existed on those threads solely to inflame other posters. he was a textbook troll. there is no redeeming quality to his existence that needs to be defended, no slippery slope to worry about. the board is better without him

Going onto a thread for Sanders supporters and posting stuff like "I pray to God it won't happen but maybe he will die peacefully in his sleep during the campaign; only, then, who will his stans blame?" and "how will we preserve our standing to criticize other candidates when his campaign co-chair said this thing on TV three years ago?" was blatant concern trolling. There might be a valid case to be made that ilx should have never had a fan club thread for a politician in the first place and that trolling was therefore justified but the first comment was still in p poor taste imo and got a rare FP from me.

I'm not even taking a strong pro-banning position here but I do think it makes sense to say NP was trolling.
