Hi,

When this poll revives in 2021, we have a day to respond based in all probability that Trump and Brexit will be history. Its not definite obviously, that's why it's a poll.

We shall see

very optimistic to imagine there will be a 2021

They are both better and worse, and for the same reasons.

ryan, Monday, 16 July 2018 20:01 (five years ago) link

Some things will be better. Others will be worse. Others about the same. For example, climate change will be worse. Hairstyles are likely to be better.

Define 'things'. If you mean the state of the US (possibly even the world, by extension), I'm pretty certain that 'things' have already hit whatever peak I'm going to see in my lifetime. I don't know if those particular 'things' will get appreciably worse, but I'm definitely not going to live long enough to see them improve. There are an increasing number of 'things' to un-fuck.

If by 'things' you mean 'penises' those are liable to become almost unfathomably fabulous over the next couple of years.

Oh what, even mine?

I just twigged that this poll ends on my 60th. So much for me being random.

Anyway, if all is well, I'll have a "60 tracks over 60 years" Spotify play list for you all. It'll start with "Walk right back" the Everlys, the rest I have no idea...

Mark G, Monday, 16 July 2018 22:26 (five years ago) link

i wont have hit forty yet, am losing weight and saving money.

yeah things are gonna be fine. yknow, they usually are, with a bit of perspective, aren't they

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Monday, 16 July 2018 22:29 (five years ago) link

I expect fine, I hope for better.

Mark G, Monday, 16 July 2018 22:30 (five years ago) link

wifi improving all the time. price of decent tech coming down. electric cars, they seem good don't they

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Monday, 16 July 2018 22:32 (five years ago) link

world cup just around the corner, really

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Monday, 16 July 2018 22:32 (five years ago) link

I voted already. I figure if ILX and most of us are still around in 2021, things will have gotten better. If things get worse, there'll be nobody who cares enough to check, or any System around to remind us and tally the answer.

El Tomboto, Monday, 16 July 2018 23:46 (five years ago) link

That's probably catastrophizing a little bit but eh

El Tomboto, Monday, 16 July 2018 23:46 (five years ago) link

two years pass...

Automatic thread bump. This poll is closing tomorrow.

Mark G alas didn't prophesy that bit of fun that has been COVID

imago, Monday, 8 March 2021 00:30 (three years ago) link

depends what you mean by trump and brexit and history

no (Left), Monday, 8 March 2021 00:32 (three years ago) link

right there in the textbook

imago, Monday, 8 March 2021 00:38 (three years ago) link

Absolutely psyched for this one, cannot lie

beware the ídes of mairt (darraghmac), Monday, 8 March 2021 00:56 (three years ago) link

My personal situation is better in some key ways, but COVID overshadows everything.

clemenza, Monday, 8 March 2021 01:00 (three years ago) link

not as freaked about the people running this country for sure, but my level of happiness has taken a deep dive since the pandemic started, seeing how so many people are not been able to express any concern for those around them or want to protect them

not sure when I will recover from realizing that if ever

Dan S, Monday, 8 March 2021 01:11 (three years ago) link

*have not been able*

Dan S, Monday, 8 March 2021 01:13 (three years ago) link

Automatic thread bump. This poll's results are now in.

System, Tuesday, 9 March 2021 00:01 (three years ago) link

OK, who were the 9?

Wrote For Lunch (Tom D.), Tuesday, 9 March 2021 00:13 (three years ago) link

It all depends on your points of reference.

You could take the question as 'better now than 2018, when this poll was inaugurated' or 'better now than the rock bottom lowest point in recent history, which just happened a few weeks or months ago, depending on how you rate it'.

fwiw, I didn't see the poll and didn't vote.

Judge Roi Behan (Aimless), Tuesday, 9 March 2021 00:34 (three years ago) link

Homeboy, did you post on here just to tell us you didn’t post on here?

america's favorite (remy bean), Tuesday, 9 March 2021 00:46 (three years ago) link

I voted "better now"

I had no idea what the question was

beware the ídes of mairt (darraghmac), Tuesday, 9 March 2021 00:51 (three years ago) link

Aimless, you predicted hairstyles would be better. Are you prepared to admit your wrongness?

(tbf no one could have predicted Millennials fighting Gen-Z over the center part)

Josefa, Tuesday, 9 March 2021 01:19 (three years ago) link

OK, who were the 9?

On the one hand, Trump out ... on the other, deadly global pandemic ... I'm not gonna say it was an easy call ...

lukas, Tuesday, 9 March 2021 01:28 (three years ago) link

how little i have thought about trump in the past two months... a real relief even if everything still sucks

mellon collie and the infinite bradness (BradNelson), Tuesday, 9 March 2021 01:35 (three years ago) link

Are you prepared to admit your wrongness?

Quite. Hairstyles have taken a terrible turn this past year.
