didn't we lose the liverpool title in recent years? we're in the hunt for little more than fourth, if anyone deserves to be given the "will fuck up the title no matter what" based on recent years it's spurs.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:17 (five months ago) Permalink

I think you'll be heavily involved in the title race this year, give or take a new defensive signing or two.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:30 (five months ago) Permalink

Salah / Manè should be fantastic.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:32 (five months ago) Permalink

Also putting Spurs in the thread title will only encourage people.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:32 (five months ago) Permalink

Fullback situation looks very dodgy for Liverpool though.

Going to be 4-3 again.

Mignolet there going for the counter and obligingly rolling the ball straight to a Watford player.

Firmino has been completely anonymous and none of this back four looks remotely like Champions League standard.

Salah's shooting has been pretty entertaining

henderson the worst culprit but can has no real creativity either. would take a draw here in an instant.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:33 (five months ago) Permalink

truth is liverpool will concede at least one more in this game, at the very least that is. they might score another.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:33 (five months ago) Permalink

how can a pro deny that is a penalty? like it couldn't be more obvious.

Two games, 12 goals is pretty good going.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:48 (five months ago) Permalink

Sorry NV, ya boy Locadia - who's move to Wolves was blocked at the last minute last summer - is off to Brighton for about € 16m.

hell is auteur people (Noodle Vague), Thursday, 18 January 2018 21:24 (three days ago) Permalink

That's what I was thinking. He's had a good first half of the season for us up until he got injured (still is but not serious). Maybe his buddy Pröpper being at Brighton since the summer (also PSV) had something to do with it.

Though in all honesty I think Wolves are just aiming higher atm.

i think we're not going to splurge this window, there shdn't be any need to rush into deals but if we don't sign at least a couple more potential first teamers i think some of our fans will get stupid

What's going on at Chelsea?

Carroll, Crouch & Llorente seem somewhat odd targets. They must be desperate for some sort of aerial attack

groovypanda, Friday, 19 January 2018 07:53 (two days ago) Permalink

supposed to have offered Roma cash + Batshuayi for Dzeko too

Number None, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:02 (two days ago) Permalink

the thing is though, Morata is at his most effective by far in the air

most headed goals in the league iirc

Number None, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:03 (two days ago) Permalink

Something very weird is going on at Chelsea. Putting City's complete dominance to the side, their title defence has been really quite limp and no one really seems to give a shit. Maybe the defeat to Burnley on the opening day of the season just managed expectations, but I can just see them trundling to a fifth place finish, at which point everyone shrugs, Conte leaves and Abramovich gives his successor another £300m.

Matt DC, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:09 (two days ago) Permalink

Those targets just scream 'short term fix that won't unsettle Morata'. They need someone as backup given that Batshuayi clearly doesn't have Conte's trust but Dzeko is the only one you can see doing anything vaguely worthwhile there. They were sniffing around Llorente last summer but I don't know why we'd let him go without anyone else on the horizon.

Not going for Sanchez suggests reduced expectations as well.

Matt DC, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:13 (two days ago) Permalink

and as for letting matic go to united

faust apes (NickB), Friday, 19 January 2018 08:18 (two days ago) Permalink

Not sure I see Dzeko going from being Serie A’s top scorer last season (with the same number of league goals as Kane) to happily playing back-up to Morata.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Friday, 19 January 2018 08:30 (two days ago) Permalink

Yeah I meant the three Premiership strikers really. Andy Carroll makes no sense at all and looks like it may actually happen.

Matt DC, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:32 (two days ago) Permalink

Andy Carroll, the white Drogba

hell is auteur people (Noodle Vague), Friday, 19 January 2018 08:44 (two days ago) Permalink

I'd assume they want an English player who hasn't played in the Champions League this season, which throws up junk like Rooney and Austin, players they've already sold or sent out on loan - like Solanke and Abraham - or a handful like Vardy / Wilson who'd probably cost a lot more.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Friday, 19 January 2018 08:50 (two days ago) Permalink

I'm sure he'd be a sensation at Oxford Utd, but fucking Chelsea just reaffirms my strong belief that hair weaves do actually affect brainwave activity, or put more simply: never trust a wiggy bastard.

calzino, Friday, 19 January 2018 08:52 (two days ago) Permalink

calzino, Friday, 19 January 2018 09:08 (two days ago) Permalink

Matt DC, Friday, 19 January 2018 09:17 (two days ago) Permalink

Luckily I sold all my bitcoin last month and bought Emile heskey

remember the lmao (darraghmac), Friday, 19 January 2018 09:19 (two days ago) Permalink

Austin is out with a hamstring injury and pending 3 match suspension to follow, so probably not turning heads for managers looking for short term fixes in this window. But he'd still be a better option than that donkey.

calzino, Friday, 19 January 2018 09:24 (two days ago) Permalink

For all the stick Mourinho gets for being boring, this Chelsea team are generally much worse to watch. When Hazard's not on it, there's just nothing there

They haven't been great lately so either they've got someone lined up and it's just Watford being Watford or something's happened behind the scenes.

Quite amusing to imagine how the Stoke board must be feeling right now.

Matt DC, Sunday, 21 January 2018 10:39 (nine hours ago) Permalink

tbf they have five points from the last ten games but they have been much better this season than anyone could have reasonably expected.

The theory seems to be that he is being courted by Everton and wasn’t allowed to leave - but still wants to in the summer - so has stopped trying but idk.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Sunday, 21 January 2018 10:41 (nine hours ago) Permalink

i am a skinematographer (Noodle Vague), Sunday, 21 January 2018 10:57 (nine hours ago) Permalink

Watford Football Club has parted company with Marco Silva.

This has been a difficult decision and one not taken lightly. The Club is convinced the appointment of Silva was the right one and had it not been for the unwarranted approach by a Premier League rival for his services we would have continued to prosper under his leadership.

The catalyst for this decision is that unwarranted approach, something which the Board believes has seen a significant deterioration in both focus and results to the point where the long-term future of Watford FC has been jeopardised.

For the security and success of the football club, the Board believes it has to make a change.

The Club will seek to make a swift appointment and there will be no further comment until that appointment has been made.
