Real posters you don't have to Google only.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:01 (eleven months ago) Permalink

didn't we lose the liverpool title in recent years? we're in the hunt for little more than fourth, if anyone deserves to be given the "will fuck up the title no matter what" based on recent years it's spurs.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:17 (eleven months ago) Permalink

I think you'll be heavily involved in the title race this year, give or take a new defensive signing or two.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:30 (eleven months ago) Permalink

Salah / Manè should be fantastic.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:32 (eleven months ago) Permalink

Also putting Spurs in the thread title will only encourage people.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 11:32 (eleven months ago) Permalink

Fullback situation looks very dodgy for Liverpool though.

they look brittle and scared every time watford have the ball in and around the box tbh. fucking joke to still be so bad at the back.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:02 (eleven months ago) Permalink

Going to be 4-3 again.

Wag1 Shree Rajneesh (ShariVari), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:04 (eleven months ago) Permalink

Mignolet there going for the counter and obligingly rolling the ball straight to a Watford player.

Firmino has been completely anonymous and none of this back four looks remotely like Champions League standard.

Salah's shooting has been pretty entertaining

put your hands on the car and get ready to die (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:28 (eleven months ago) Permalink

henderson the worst culprit but can has no real creativity either. would take a draw here in an instant.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:33 (eleven months ago) Permalink

truth is liverpool will concede at least one more in this game, at the very least that is. they might score another.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:33 (eleven months ago) Permalink

how can a pro deny that is a penalty? like it couldn't be more obvious.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:46 (eleven months ago) Permalink

So Firmino is playing after all.

Good too be back, EPL.

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:47 (eleven months ago) Permalink

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:47 (eleven months ago) Permalink

Two games, 12 goals is pretty good going.

Matt DC, Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:48 (eleven months ago) Permalink

Even allowing for inflation, Firmino must be worth at least 6 Tony Galvins.

Falling apart indeed, but even this breakaway from Watford leads to comedy capers in Pool's defense

Le Bateau Ivre, Saturday, 12 August 2017 12:57 (eleven months ago) Permalink

i think the problems in the defence are so deep that one player won't fix them, even if they can sign vvd or whatever. there's a rot there for a long time now.

can't believe it's going to be another season of butt-clenching scorelines like this in the last 15 mins. some lost, some held.

Bein' Sean Bean (LocalGarda), Saturday, 12 August 2017 13:08 (eleven months ago) Permalink

he does have his uses yes - he scored 4 goals in the prem last year, but with the players united have got, there's just no way we should be relying on him to come off the bench to rescue us. if he stays and martial goes, i'm calling for jose's head on a spike

we just got Erik Durm from Borussia Dortmund. Versatile but injury prone fullback who was part of the Germany wc winning squad of '14. Wagner was the one who originally signed him at BD, and it sounds like we have just bought out the last year of his contract. It'll do for me.

cautiously optimistic about alisson but I actually didn't realize that he didn't start a single game the season before this one

gbx, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 17:33 (yesterday) Permalink

rip Wardy! Not being able to supplant Karius is the ultimate vote of no-confidence!

calzino, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 18:57 (yesterday) Permalink

Done it elsewhere at greater length but yes jack grealish is the finest English playmaker of his generation, certainly a vastly superior player to dele fuckin alli,!it's a great signing, by rights he should be the cornerstone of all England national sides in future, a pox on the poch that leaves him to rot on the bench until he's 27 and the moment is lost

Windsor Davies, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 19:31 (yesterday) Permalink

We're not exactly overstocked in that position, especially if and when Dembele leaves, he'll get plenty of game time.

Matt DC, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 19:37 (yesterday) Permalink

Idk that I guess would be the difficulty, he's not a centre mid and he's certainly no dembele

If he's gonna play anywhere in your current system it's gonna have to be one of the two spots behind Kane but ahead of the midfield, he's a 10 more than anything

Windsor Davies, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 19:39 (yesterday) Permalink

I'll go big in my praise for him but obviously he'll never and shouldn't be picked ahead of Eriksen which leaves him competing with dele and son for that other spot

Most likely he fills the eriksen spot in cup games and the like whenever eriksen needs a rest, it's a crying shame, would've been better as a 1st choice elsewhere imo

Windsor Davies, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 19:42 (yesterday) Permalink

most likely he replaces or challenges alli tbh

jaysus, rotten luck that

xp lookit i can cheerlead against all logic when i love a fella but alli will be gone from spurs for far more than he's worth within two years and if we have plan b in already then thats fine by me

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Wednesday, 18 July 2018 20:41 (yesterday) Permalink

was only quoting from your own glorious leader, the eyeroll was implied. he's obviously got a touch and he scores some goals but i mean "raheem sterling" need i say i more. grealish won't get a game ahead of alli, better football brains than you or i have decided that he is the future and that's all there is to it

Windsor Davies, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 20:47 (yesterday) Permalink

idng the raheem sterling comment, a player with no touch and no goals bar those handed by pep fiat

long may alli rep premium last, i think im at the stage of the sooner we cash in and get a player who doesnt lose the ball all the time the better

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Wednesday, 18 July 2018 21:07 (yesterday) Permalink

probably more astute than Dyche's dogged persistence in trying to get Clucas at a Buy British price.

calzino, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 21:17 (yesterday) Permalink

huh? a post disappeared!

calzino, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 21:18 (yesterday) Permalink

xxp alright well we can argue about whether or not Sterling has got a first touch (i think he does, it's the second, third and fourth touches that tend to ruin it), i mentioned him before bcuz he is the no 1 example out there of using the numbers (23 in 46 last season!) to justify the "he is a world class player delivering week in week out for a top level side" assessment regardless of how much evidence he may provide to the contrary in real time during games

Alli is also a much worse player than his numbers would suggest, you can make an argument based on the numbers that he is actually an extremely effective player, but he's NOT that's all i was getting at

Windsor Davies, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 21:20 (yesterday) Permalink

ya ya all agreed

you think grealish is a better player, gods honest now, or dyou think in champo alli is like a god etc

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Wednesday, 18 July 2018 21:24 (yesterday) Permalink

Ha well how is one to be sure, he was singlehandedly pureeing defences as of Christmas last year while playing alongside some right tosh

I'm of the opinion that there is not much to call between a top 8 championship defence and a bottom 12 EPL defence, or at least there wasn't last year, this state of affairs seems likely to continue

All I can say is I've been going along to villa park for many many years now and even in the days when we were routinely contending for European places I never saw a guy so utterly assured in possession, making the right decisions and getting the execution right

adomah, grabban, snodgrass et al were scoring 1 in every 5 that he was creating for them, would fancy Harry Kane's chances of getting more

Windsor Davies, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 21:32 (yesterday) Permalink

But yes if it comes to it he is a different and altogether superior player to alli, he will probably post worse numbers even if he gets the starts but that proves nothing

Windsor Davies, Wednesday, 18 July 2018 21:35 (yesterday) Permalink

im of an opinion that a player with less of the big stats than alli who strung things together more consistently but with a more creative edge than winks would be a vg addition to squad.

doubt he'd be stuck for game time tbh, especially presuming dembele sissoko are likely departees.

dele alli my bookmarks (darraghmac), Wednesday, 18 July 2018 22:06 (yesterday) Permalink

Son is at the Asian Games at the start of the season which might have some bearing on transfer policy. Just remembered that Moura exists as well.

are we allowed to start talking about the new domestic season now that the World Cup is done?

Liverpool looking immense on paper once the Alisson deal goes through but they've still only got one viable front 3, remove any one of them and the whole thing goes to pieces. Man Utd will be absolute waste again and probably still finish 2nd, Pogba and Lukaku will get the blame, Spurs a worthy 3rd place. Are Chelsea gonna be any good at all once they sell Kante to PSG?
