otoh i don't think the attention this tournament will draw will be that substantial what with it being sort of not a real Copa America - not all teams will be full-strength iirc - and with the euros on this summer as well.

Wish I wasn't going to Scotland for a wedding this summer or I totally would have made it to a Chile game :/

Favourites to win for me: Argentina, Mexico (who are close to being the home team really #trump2016).

anyway. brasil look sharp, probably the favourites. argentina are beating chile 1-0 at half-time, but one of the more convincing 1-0 leads. definitely the end of the road for the remnants of chile's históricos

Tempers flying, I think it’s mostly just frustration at this potential draw.

It was a little out of left-field, hasn't seemed a particularly bad tempered or rough match.

Yeah just a really weird last ten minutes here. A goal immediately called offside sounds about right for how this might still end.

And there’s the inevitable red card, if only because it felt like something would happen. But sheesh at all the contorting.

i think this will be a good indication of Chile's chances in the tournament. They looked poor against Bolivia, Uruguay a bit of a sterner challenge.

i ended up unable to catch the second half of the match but getting beat 1-0, despite them being down to 10 men for half of the game, and missing some good chances (although brazil also had chances) sounds almost as bad as getting thrashed by multiple goals.

The United States will host the 2024 Copa America tournament, CONCACAF and CONMEBOL announced Friday. Here’s what you need to know:

The governing bodies announced a strategic agreement to “strengthen and develop football in both regions,” centering around 2024 national team competitions and the creation of a new club competition.
As part of the deal, the men’s Copa America will include six guest CONCACAF teams in addition to all 10 CONMEBOL teams, and be jointly organized by both confederations.
The 2024 CONCACAF W Gold Cup will also include four CONMEBOL guest teams in addition to eight CONCACAF teams.
The U.S., Canada and Mexico are already set to jointly host the 2026 World Cup.
