Anyone ever done this or had it done to them? Is this really a thing people do?

anything anyone does that is overtly dramatic or showy in this vein should lead to their messy execution in front of their loved ones

this only really works in very urban areas. throwing stuff out a window of a ranch-style on a half acre lot seems anticlimactic to me.

Not a significant other, but my mother once threw all my sister's close out the front door of our house onto the lawn.

i had a pair of awful upstairs neighbors for about a year who would do this all the time. i once came home and found a smashed desktop computer on the sidewalk outside their window. these people also almost burned down the building trying to burn each other's belongings on their grill

Apparently my wife had college housemates who put all her stuff on a street corner when they kicked her out. No windows were involved though. Her housemates were horrible bitches tbf.

That Carole Bayer Sager song is really great.

one of my bff's did this to a boyfriend once -- though it wasn't throwing out the window, it was throwing out the door, but it did involve pushing his dresser down a flight of stairs.

He had said, "I don't really see where this relationship is going."

So she showed him exactly where it was going.

CLAP CLAP CLAP CLAP

That sounds a little like the guy who said "I'm not getting any younger and I don't see myself falling in love with you." We didn't live together so I couldn't throw it out the window but I sent it back in the mail.

this is somewhat understandable in response to "I've been fucking all your friends and your mother is a cunt", not so much to "I don't see where this relationship is going"??

For theatrics' sake I should have sent it back broken, but tbh I didn't care about him THAT much and I didn't want him to think I did.

don't these people have window screens

I didn't throw anything out the window (we lived on the first floor anyway) but I did sell everything valuable and put the rest of the guy's stuff in the hall. This was in reaction to him fucking people who weren't me and using my rent money for heroin and then refusing to move out when I was like dude, you're not even on the lease get out.

Note: he just lived out of his boxes in the hall and slept on the couch so I eventually left the state and 12 years later declined his Facebook friend request with no explanation.

Last year a friend of mine was in a rough spot with his SO. He was talking to some friends in the presence of a 7 year old and said, "My biggest fear is that I go back to apartment today and my stuff is thrown all over the lawn." The 7 year old looked at him and deadpanned, "My biggest fear is vampires".
