Veronica Mars

I just watched all three seasons last month and yeah, season 3 was a real drag at the start, but started getting a bit better with the second mystery arc and then the last four or so episodes were pretty brilliant. I liked where they were going with it and wished that there had been a proper season 4 - the original outline of season 4, not the FBI one.

and yeah, I agree with everyone who says that while seasons 2 and 3 aren't great compared to season 1, it's still miles better than your average TV show.

We've been watching season 3 and it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. Definitely not as compelling as the first two, but still worth watching. And Dick suddenly becomes hilarious and awesome.

OTfM. Except for the part about Dick being awesome; Dick was and will never be anything remotely approaching "awesome"

I think season 3 Dick is pretty funny as predictable but ultimately harmless asshole. Although emo Dick, like emo Logan, sucks.

can't read this thread because i'm only about halfway through s1 but yeah i love this shit

do yerself a favor and stop with season two, which is... full of wtf moments itself, but not nearly as bleak as the third season.

Yeah, season 2 was not as good, and season 3 was unwatchable for me.

The second season finale kind of ruined this show for me, it was such an unbelievable Scooby Doo-style reveal.

Yeah, it was pretty rough.

i dug season 2 more than 1, but really they're both top notch. 3 isn't as good, but still essential due to the fact that veronica mars is the best TV show made this century.

Watch the last 5 episodes of series 3 at least (the standalone ones). For all the flaws in series 2 and 3 they're still a lot better than almost anything else you could be watching.

I loved the second season finale for that reason, it was crazy and over the top! But no spoilers.

Season 3 is just.. okay, then the final episodes are just bad... you want to talk about disappointing finales, the S3 finale was just awful, a terrible rehash of season 1 stuff and just a horrible down note to end it all.

I think the original plan was to have Cera be the season 2 rapist, but that would probably have involved not being Michael Cera.

Hey I just finished season 3 (late to the party). I was watching the penultimate episode and was psyched cuz I thought I had a whole other disc to watch (getting them from Netflix) but then I saw that the last disc was just extras so there was one ep left! And it was weird and left a whole lot of things completely hanging. (The previous episode brought up the Fitzpatricks wanting Cordelia's money and I thought there was some question as to whether she was really dead - but that didn't go anywhere).

In S3 - the rapist storyline - VM thought it couldn't be Mercer because he had a phone-in radio show. Did they explain that?

Anyway, sucks that this is finished :(

IIRC they were playing Mercer's show over the speakers at the party and she heard the audio skip - then she realized that it was pre-recorded and he had no alibi.

I just watched the last few episodes last night. It was such a superb show, just so brilliant, and the end of season 3 just left me so...cold. I don't necessarily need everything to be wrapped in a nice bow but when after the finale I'm scrambling to see if I forgot the last DVD then it seems like SOMETHING went wrong. I'll blame the network for picking up the final episodes last minute, not allowing time for a cohesive final arc - in other news, Smallville is on season 9!

Random notes:

-A+++ decision to drop Duncan from the show for season 3 - glad I wasn't the only one who was firmly team Logan/Veronica, not to mention that the Duncan character was complete dead weight anyway. I only wish their relationship could have been a bit more steady in the end, as it was getting a bit too Ross & Rachel for my liking.
-The murder of Aaron Echolls was dismissed far too casually- father of Logan, movie star, acquitted murderer was killed execution style right after the trial and barely two words about it in season 3?
-Did anyone else not recognize the other female in the S3 credits as Parker immediately? It was about 10 episodes in that I figured that it wasn't a character that was coming mid-season, ha.
-One thing I found a bit jarring but didn't get too hung up on was that Veronica would still associate with Dick (not that they were bffs) even though she knew that he facilitated her rape. And Logan loved to get smashy smashy at any man who dared give Veronica the side eye so his continued friendship with Dick was a bit of a plot hole in my mind.
-Were the Weevil and Logan actors on roids for season 3? Both were a lot bigger and very pimply (check out Logan's back during the surfing scenes).

So this is all on Netflix Watch Instantly now it seems. I can finally watch it from beginning to end instead of loose episodes I've caught here and there. Amazing use of The Streets in pilot!
