I just watched all three seasons last month and yeah, season 3 was a real drag at the start, but started getting a bit better with the second mystery arc and then the last four or so episodes were pretty brilliant. I liked where they were going with it and wished that there had been a proper season 4 - the original outline of season 4, not the FBI one.

and yeah, I agree with everyone who says that while seasons 2 and 3 aren't great compared to season 1, it's still miles better than your average TV show.

We've been watching season 3 and it's really not as bad as people make it out to be. Definitely not as compelling as the first two, but still worth watching. And Dick suddenly becomes hilarious and awesome.

OTfM. Except for the part about Dick being awesome; Dick was and will never be anything remotely approaching "awesome"

Stevie D, Sunday, 3 February 2008 06:14 (eighteen years ago)

I think season 3 Dick is pretty funny as predictable but ultimately harmless asshole. Although emo Dick, like emo Logan, sucks.

Gah, I miss this show too. Maybe I'll go and DL all John Hughes films to make up for my loss. :-)

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 4 May 2009 20:19 (seventeen years ago)

do yerself a favor and stop with season two, which is... full of wtf moments itself, but not nearly as bleak as the third season.

ian, Monday, 4 May 2009 20:27 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, season 2 was not as good, and season 3 was unwatchable for me.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 4 May 2009 20:29 (seventeen years ago)

The second season finale kind of ruined this show for me, it was such an unbelievable Scooby Doo-style reveal.

Saula (Nicole), Monday, 4 May 2009 20:32 (seventeen years ago)

Yeah, it was pretty rough.

Your heartbeat soun like sasquatch feet (polyphonic), Monday, 4 May 2009 20:34 (seventeen years ago)

LET'S NOT SPOIL THIS FOR N/A OKAY GUYS?
let him have his wtf moment(s) for himself.

ian, Monday, 4 May 2009 20:35 (seventeen years ago)

i dug season 2 more than 1, but really they're both top notch. 3 isn't as good, but still essential due to the fact that veronica mars is the best TV show made this century.

the girl from spirea x (f. hazel), Monday, 4 May 2009 20:36 (seventeen years ago)

Watch the last 5 episodes of series 3 at least (the standalone ones). For all the flaws in series 2 and 3 they're still a lot better than almost anything else you could be watching.

88, Monday, 4 May 2009 22:16 (seventeen years ago)

the 2nd season finale is kinda hilarious in retrospect

the plane!!! lol

zinguist (cozwn), Monday, 4 May 2009 22:20 (seventeen years ago)

I loved the second season finale for that reason, it was crazy and over the top! But no spoilers.

Season 3 is just.. okay, then the final episodes are just bad... you want to talk about disappointing finales, the S3 finale was just awful, a terrible rehash of season 1 stuff and just a horrible down note to end it all.

OMG I was totes in support of Logan + VM, I was practically suckerpunched by that scene. So hot.

But not someone who should be dead anyway (Laurel), Monday, 22 June 2009 19:21 (sixteen years ago)

would be more into it if logan wasnt so dumb lookin

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Monday, 22 June 2009 19:21 (sixteen years ago)

I like Logan except for his retarded bro necklaces. We're about halfway through s2, still digging it except I'm missing the episodicness of s1.

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 22 June 2009 19:23 (sixteen years ago)

logan's hair makes him look like a dragonball z character.

ian, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:24 (sixteen years ago)

logan as a character - interesting, well-rounded, well-acted
logan as an object to look at - doughy, terrible fashion, terrible hair, worst necklaces

rip dom passantino 3/5/09 never forget (max), Monday, 22 June 2009 19:24 (sixteen years ago)

ok yeah I'll agree with that

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 22 June 2009 19:25 (sixteen years ago)

i loved this show

i wonder what shakey thinks of this.

ian, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:26 (sixteen years ago)

Crinkly eyes, no lips to speak of, pale like the belly of a dead fish. This is, for better or worse, 100% my type.

But not someone who should be dead anyway (Laurel), Monday, 22 June 2009 19:34 (sixteen years ago)

guy who plays Logan is a 2nd-generation $cientologist, if that helps you enjoy his character more, max

i am wracking my brain and damn if I can't recall a single smashworthy dude from this show

ian, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:48 (sixteen years ago)

i was always hoping veronica would break down and booty call weevil after one of her breakups.

ian, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:49 (sixteen years ago)

well steve gutenberg is a vintage smash but lookin rough lately

giovanni & ribsy (elmo argonaut), Monday, 22 June 2009 19:55 (sixteen years ago)

horseshoe, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:56 (sixteen years ago)

until season 3, in which i pretty much hate everyone.

horseshoe, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:56 (sixteen years ago)

weevil is smashworthy until season 3. something happened to that actor's face.

horseshoe, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:58 (sixteen years ago)

also that very goodlooking young man who played lindsay lohan's love interest in mean girls is in one episode of veronica mars--ws.

horseshoe, Monday, 22 June 2009 19:59 (sixteen years ago)

just saw the one with alia shawkat and michael cera, which was kinda wtf

congratulations (n/a), Monday, 22 June 2009 20:03 (sixteen years ago)

I think the original plan was to have Cera be the season 2 rapist, but that would probably have involved not being Michael Cera.

Sir William of Joel (Nicole), Monday, 22 June 2009 20:07 (sixteen years ago)

yeah i sensed they were headed in that direction when i first watched that episode and it had me ON EDGE.

horseshoe, Monday, 22 June 2009 20:08 (sixteen years ago)

k im checking out of this thread cuz things are being revealed--cant believe none of yall would smash wallace but no accounting for taste--also the deputy from the beginning of season 1 has a funny accent

eight months pass...

Hey I just finished season 3 (late to the party). I was watching the penultimate episode and was psyched cuz I thought I had a whole other disc to watch (getting them from Netflix) but then I saw that the last disc was just extras so there was one ep left! And it was weird and left a whole lot of things completely hanging. (The previous episode brought up the Fitzpatricks wanting Cordelia's money and I thought there was some question as to whether she was really dead - but that didn't go anywhere).

In S3 - the rapist storyline - VM thought it couldn't be Mercer because he had a phone-in radio show. Did they explain that?

Anyway, sucks that this is finished :(

IIRC they were playing Mercer's show over the speakers at the party and she heard the audio skip - then she realized that it was pre-recorded and he had no alibi.

musically, Sunday, 2 May 2010 20:24 (sixteen years ago)

I just watched the last few episodes last night. It was such a superb show, just so brilliant, and the end of season 3 just left me so...cold. I don't necessarily need everything to be wrapped in a nice bow but when after the finale I'm scrambling to see if I forgot the last DVD then it seems like SOMETHING went wrong. I'll blame the network for picking up the final episodes last minute, not allowing time for a cohesive final arc - in other news, Smallville is on season 9!

Random notes:

-A+++ decision to drop Duncan from the show for season 3 - glad I wasn't the only one who was firmly team Logan/Veronica, not to mention that the Duncan character was complete dead weight anyway. I only wish their relationship could have been a bit more steady in the end, as it was getting a bit too Ross & Rachel for my liking.
-The murder of Aaron Echolls was dismissed far too casually- father of Logan, movie star, acquitted murderer was killed execution style right after the trial and barely two words about it in season 3?
-Did anyone else not recognize the other female in the S3 credits as Parker immediately? It was about 10 episodes in that I figured that it wasn't a character that was coming mid-season, ha.
-One thing I found a bit jarring but didn't get too hung up on was that Veronica would still associate with Dick (not that they were bffs) even though she knew that he facilitated her rape. And Logan loved to get smashy smashy at any man who dared give Veronica the side eye so his continued friendship with Dick was a bit of a plot hole in my mind.
-Were the Weevil and Logan actors on roids for season 3? Both were a lot bigger and very pimply (check out Logan's back during the surfing scenes).

So this is all on Netflix Watch Instantly now it seems. I can finally watch it from beginning to end instead of loose episodes I've caught here and there. Amazing use of The Streets in pilot!
