there's gonna be some kinda huge legal showdown between the state of CA (which is obviously moving towards outright legalization) and the Supreme Court/DEA and I dunno how that's gonna shake out. Its possible CA's laws will get struck down and the Feds will strongarm the state... maybe not likely, but possible.

as it is I just get free weed from my neighbor (who runs a pot club)

Love that guy!

I think it will eventually be like gay marriage - 'cause I've met lots of right-wing dickweeds my age and younger who love weed. It's when the generation that was conned into thinking it was a rape drug used by 'colored' people to rape your daughter or at least corrupt her morals have passed that many of them, at least the ones who aren't abjectly cretinous anti-tax libertarians will want to tax and oversee like w/liquor. Plus, all those reddish states who like sucking on the Federal teat so much while espousing 'fiscal conservatism' may eventually be convinced that they could make mad cash growing.

yeah agreed about the demographic shift

the taint of Macca is strong (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 1 October 2009 20:54 (sixteen years ago)

And even so, I dunno I just don't want my name on a list somewhere.

lol this is me. despite all evidence to the contrary I FEAR THE MAN.

all yoga attacks are fire based (rogermexico.), Thursday, 1 October 2009 20:59 (sixteen years ago)

you guys both live in the bay area tho xp

not sure the demographic shift is as true for young conservatives in alabama (etc.)

iatee, Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:01 (sixteen years ago)

I mean, I'm just going off anecdotal evidence here, but there seem to be VERY few people in my parents' generation who made it through the 60s-70s without smoking weed - including plenty of people who are hardcore conservatives now and aren't pro-legalization.

iatee, Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:06 (sixteen years ago)

Perhaps, so, iatee, but I still think they're outnumbered.

l'homme moderne: il forniquait et lisait des journaux (Michael White), Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:07 (sixteen years ago)

Especially since there are many economic liberals/libertarians amongst California conservatives and independents who don't like big government telling them what to do.

l'homme moderne: il forniquait et lisait des journaux (Michael White), Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:09 (sixteen years ago)

all the polls I've seen have suggested that yeah we do have hope in california...I just think it has more to do w/ california's weird libertarianism than w/ national demographic changes

iatee, Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:10 (sixteen years ago)

yeah exactly

I think this shift is true throughout CA tho (yeah obviously that doesn't apply to the rest of the country). LA's a case in point, the pot club community has exploded down there. There just aren't that many demographics in this state that are against it.

x-posts

the taint of Macca is strong (Shakey Mo Collier), Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:11 (sixteen years ago)

yeah but that has to be put in contrast w/ the rest of the country, where the republicans, young and old, realllllly aren't libertarians. like...in any sense...

iatee, Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

I've been harvesting a lot of public policy reports for the institutional repository at my University and almost half of them are alcohol-abuse-awareness related. I cry real heartfelt emotional tears over the hypocrisy of legal alcohol and illegal weed. Just seems so fucking obvious to me.

Trip Maker, Thursday, 1 October 2009 21:13 (sixteen years ago)

Bill Maher said the other night that there were more pot clubs than Starbucks in LA County.

It's when the generation that was conned into thinking it was a rape drug used by 'colored' people to rape your daughter or at least corrupt her morals have passed

c'mon dude, there aren't that many nonagenarians left

velko, Thursday, 1 October 2009 22:04 (sixteen years ago)

what's the compare/contrast on vapor vs. bubbler?

shaane, Friday, 2 October 2009 01:23 (sixteen years ago)

no contest

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 01:40 (sixteen years ago)

that wasn't the question iirc.

vapor is incredibly smooth. (way) smoother than any kind of literal smoking.

ian, Friday, 2 October 2009 02:01 (sixteen years ago)

btw i think i smoke too much but i am looking at using weed more effectively to enhance my life.

ian, Friday, 2 October 2009 02:01 (sixteen years ago)

ditto, ian. is the actual hi any dif? how much would a decent one set me back?

shaane, Friday, 2 October 2009 02:04 (sixteen years ago)

i know nothing about pricing, having never owned a vaporizer. but i had a roommate for a few years who did and it was a pretty device to have on hand. the high didn't seem to be significantly different but it's hard to say since it's been years since i've used a vaporizer.

ian, Friday, 2 October 2009 02:10 (sixteen years ago)

I've known folks who claim that they don't get high from vapors.
I'm not one of them.

Trip Maker, Friday, 2 October 2009 02:14 (sixteen years ago)

A Volcano is like $400. Love 'em, but not worth the $ imo.

hope this helps (Granny Dainger), Friday, 2 October 2009 02:19 (sixteen years ago)

i get wayyyy higher off vapors than smoke but the actual high isnt very different

fleetwood (max), Friday, 2 October 2009 09:03 (sixteen years ago)

It's basically a crack pipe but in college days people (who most certainly were not me, hi IT dudes at work) used a little glass thing called an ubie that was like $10 and had most of the benefits of a vape

ENERGY FOOD (en i see kay), Friday, 2 October 2009 09:51 (sixteen years ago)

If THEY held the lighter too close to it, though, it just became a regular pipe.

ENERGY FOOD (en i see kay), Friday, 2 October 2009 09:52 (sixteen years ago)

Volcano is where it's at. I wish someone would buy me one. Weed Fairy, where art thou?

Nate Carson, Friday, 2 October 2009 10:55 (sixteen years ago)

the high is waaaaaaaaay different

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 11:09 (sixteen years ago)

i've been using vaporizers since 1998

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 11:10 (sixteen years ago)

imo, the high is cleaner, less confusing, more hallucinatory

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 11:20 (sixteen years ago)

max u should come over

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 11:21 (sixteen years ago)

ill bring the sardines

fleetwood (max), Friday, 2 October 2009 11:23 (sixteen years ago)

dunno i get intimidated by vapes last time i got high on one i spent 2 hours waiting for a pizza and then realized i never ordered one

fleetwood (max), Friday, 2 October 2009 11:24 (sixteen years ago)

and you think the high is different?

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 11:39 (sixteen years ago)

not different

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 11:39 (sixteen years ago)

btw i have plenty of sardines here

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 11:39 (sixteen years ago)

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 16:58 (sixteen years ago)

It's definitely different. But to a rookie, high is high.

Nate Carson, Friday, 2 October 2009 20:46 (sixteen years ago)

fuckin rookies

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 20:48 (sixteen years ago)

They always scorch the whole bowl. It's rude and amateurish.

Nate Carson, Friday, 2 October 2009 20:49 (sixteen years ago)

save some green asshole

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 20:50 (sixteen years ago)

a little glass thing called an ubie that was like $10 and had most of the benefits of a vape

We got one of these but couldn't really get the hang of it. Either nothing came out of it at all or as said above we'd hold the lighter too close and it'd just be like a normal pipe. Never used it again cos we've not been able to get a decent supply for over 2 years now and haven't really got enough to waste trying to figure it out.

Colonel Poo, Friday, 2 October 2009 20:52 (sixteen years ago)

Hate when folks torch the bowl. Just blazing the flame the whole time that they are taking their hit. It's lit already! Don't fucking scorch the whole bowl!

I wish I had a volcano of my own.

Trip Maker, Friday, 2 October 2009 20:57 (sixteen years ago)

The turkey roasting bag on the Volcano is what makes it fool proof. Too many other vaporizers, you're all "did I get a hit?"

Nate Carson, Friday, 2 October 2009 20:57 (sixteen years ago)

I like to turn the setting up high on the volcano. It's cool cuz its variable! You can change the concentration of the vapors! Also, you can cook with or even smoke the weed after you've vaporized it, usually, and is good to have around when you run out of fresh shit. Better than resin or roaches, anyway. IMO.

Trip Maker, Friday, 2 October 2009 21:00 (sixteen years ago)

eh that vapor in the bag gets stale

cutty, Friday, 2 October 2009 21:01 (sixteen years ago)

That's why you take the whole thing in one toke!
(no you don't, you'll turn green)

Trip Maker, Friday, 2 October 2009 21:03 (sixteen years ago)

A whole bag of vapor is for sharing, not camping.
