Marijuana: Classic or Dud?

wrt to original thread topic, i'd prob say classic even tho i've done it maybe 3 times in the past 5-6 years.

my biggest smoking days were in high school, actually, which is kind of a bummer b/c i'd prob enjoy it more now. college i barely smoked

really tho i think it's only ideal in circumstances where u have like 4-5 good friends/siblings/cousins, some records to listen to, maybe a movie to watch or something. even better if you've got some good food to cook together, that was one of my favorite things to do after smoking. i hated doing it at parties

fun for the first 40 minutes, then i feel cloudy as fuck

& if ur having some kind of rough night or feel a little bet self-conscious about something then it can totally ruin you imo - u can start self-analyzing to a pretty horrible degree

yea even times when i have enjoyed it i have eventually come to a point where i'm like k i don't want to be fucking high anymore.

most times i'm drunk i think i don't wanna be drunk anymore! i used to hate getting hi but last time i did it it was fun. maybe a once a year thing, like a holiday

the self-analysis thing doesn't have to be like that. i used to get really bothered by that but now i just kind of chill with my thoughts, instead of letting them freak me out.

i'm a little weirded out by the abuse of the medicinal marijuana system. everyone i know who smokes weed in l.a. has a card and a bullshit reason for needing it. i'm not sure if i'm weirded out for any good reason, though, like if it actually affects those who genuinely can use marijuana for serious medical issues.

Natalie Angier wrote a nice bit about her mother once, in a book of essays about mothers. It was a dear little piece about how her mother shared her cure for anorgasmia, which was smoking a joint beforehand.

Such a mother-to-daughter talk would have made my early 20s much easier.

honestly I think it helps. more demand = more availability and geographical convenience, which matters in LA.

and yeah I lol at the ads in the back of LA Weekly with, like, Well Dressed Businessy Black Guy and Well Dressed Businessy White Guy, but most of the "prescriptions" for "anxiety" are probably going to functionig people who use weed to self-medicate for anxiety anyway, so no harm no foul imo.
