The first image was one of John Kerry with guacamole all over his face (Oh, Dan).

The second was of Johnny Depp shedding one single tear, a publicity shot from his starring roll in I Just Dropped Off My Baby at Her First Day of Preschool.

I'm just grateful to be connected to the second category.

I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT THAT IS. IT'S LIKE YOU LIVE IN "THE LAND OF THE LOST" OR SOMETHING.

Seriously...what color are dinosaurs, really?

John Justen, All Dude Dual Groom Swordfight Revue (johnjusten), Wednesday, 6 September 2006 18:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Marshall, Will and Holly... on a routine expedition...

(That show scared the crap out of me as child, seriously. So gbx, let me offer this advice: avoid the Sleestaks.)

Well, the herbivores were kind of cute, weren't they.

Land of the Lost is why I've never been able to get through Jurassic Park without feeling flat-out terror.

gbx, I do hope you have some modern weapons at your disposal. A crossbow at the very least.

Or an annoying little girl you can throw to the carnivores as a distraction.

That's a great idea, Dan, but FB is all the way here in Minnesota.

I think it's about time to throw another annoying little girl to John as a distraction.

Oh don't worry, Sara, why not check in on what your neighbors in Wisconsin are doing:

Why I have went 2 graveyard dis weekend.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 7 September 2006 15:52 (seventeen years ago) link

And people wonder why I hesitate to go there for holidays. It's not just the weirdness about food and beds people!

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Thursday, 7 September 2006 15:57 (seventeen years ago) link

Although I'm pretty sure no one A. knows is involved in that sort of thing... Wisconsin is just an odd state.

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Thursday, 7 September 2006 15:58 (seventeen years ago) link

Hey, this has absolutely nothing to do with Hastings (except it's my hometown) but what's the name of that company that publishes those sort of small-sized nichey arty books?

subgenius (subgenius), Thursday, 7 September 2006 16:05 (seventeen years ago) link

Never mind, I have it. I was thinking of Taschen.

A narrow scrape with aphasia. I wish I could get over it that fast. Usually I have to go to sleep before whatever word I've lost comes back to me.

The GZeus (The GZeus), Thursday, 7 September 2006 22:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Also, Windows has enough I/O latency issues as to make most game controllers fucking pointless.

The GZeus (The GZeus), Friday, 8 September 2006 00:18 (seventeen years ago) link

I had to hang out with The Crazy Family this afternoon (not mine, but parents of friends of Alex's). At one point the Father Guy (who I will not name here) asked me seriously if I thought that people without children should be allowed to vote.

This is why I am wary of meeting new people.

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 8 September 2006 00:41 (seventeen years ago) link

Just tell him from me that I feel the same about people with children. When the outrage dies down, kindly add that I meant that as a joke, in the same way that he was joking. Surely. (As confusion settles on him, steal his wallet.)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 01:01 (seventeen years ago) link

That is my problem; when someone says something that is completely outlandish (and sometimes when what they say is pretty innocuous), my brain sometimes starts going down three different paths. In this case, there was the impassioned harangue fighting it out with the reasonable explanation - both competing with my desperate urge to pull out a cell phone and immediately begin calling childless friends to facetiously urge them to get pregnant or adopt a baby before November.

As for the wallet thing, you shouldn't believe everything Dan tells you about me.

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 8 September 2006 02:22 (seventeen years ago) link

He tells me you are a sweet and trusting innocent. So he's lying?

Ned Raggett (Ned), Friday, 8 September 2006 02:26 (seventeen years ago) link

Maybe Dan doesn't remember who I am. He seemed to recognize me this weekend, though.

OMG, am I my own evil twin?

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 8 September 2006 02:33 (seventeen years ago) link

I need to meet more persons here in the flesh.
But not like.. IN the FLESH...

Like rocking out at the DEVO concert? Oh yeah. At the Oneida Casino in Green Bay. Only a 4 1/2 hour drive each way.

Devo was solid. No heart-attacks. If you've ever seen a DEVO concert video, you have a pretty good idea what they performed. Older stuff. They got Whip It out of the way early in the set and finished up with Come Back Jonee.

Bow Wow Wow opened and sucked, but Annabella Lwin is hott (if shrill). BWW sounded better over by the slots. Up $4.00 at the casino! Got back in @ 3:00 this morning.

Oh Green Bay. That entire state is devoted to that city in the weirdest way. Last time I was in Green Bay we had to go to a train museum (A's family has a train obsession) and it was incredibly hot and kind of horrible.

Devo. Oh my. And...the flashbacks to 6th grade commence.

(Actually I'm a bit envious. But not of the driving time.)

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 8 September 2006 13:53 (seventeen years ago) link

For your Friday afternoon amusement (or not, probably depending on whether you have met me more than once in real life), I offer a short 6th grade Hastings memory:

We lived on 15th street, right next to 3r1k Kr4m3r. Neighborhood kids killed time on summer nights by playing "ditch." Even I played at times, despite my general incompetence at that game. Why? My 6th grade crush: K31th K4rp1nsk3.

Sara R-C (Sara R-C), Friday, 8 September 2006 16:52 (seventeen years ago) link

Devo. Oh my

They're huge! Sorta.
