I have had it up to here waiting for the Fingerhut catalogue to be remastered.

Fact: www.dhmo.org is a website dedicated to that stupid joke your chemistry teacher makes in high school about dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) being the most abundant, potentially dangerous chemical in the world.

Fact: according to double top-secret web analytics I saw for epa.g0v today, the number two referrer to EPA's website in the past 3 months was www.dhmo.org, and it's been in the top 5 for the past year.

xp - like the subject of a thread i had second thoughts about posting on that was a serious clusterfuck.

sarahel, Monday, 9 November 2009 20:46 (sixteen years ago)

I always have to stop myself going onto thread about bands I don't like to slag them off, as that wouldn't be doing anyone any good.

I am flesh and blood. You are software and circuitry. (chap), Monday, 9 November 2009 21:58 (sixteen years ago)

yeah - i hear you on that one.

sarahel, Monday, 9 November 2009 22:00 (sixteen years ago)

TGAAPQ (Mr. Que), Monday, 9 November 2009 22:01 (sixteen years ago)

I always like going on the Pitchfork thread because it makes other people who allegedly don't read it cry.

a Barbie-like nub where he provates should be (HI DERE), Monday, 9 November 2009 22:04 (sixteen years ago)

xxp - do you talk about provates or something?

sarahel, Monday, 9 November 2009 22:04 (sixteen years ago)

oh. that's me, sometimes, too. i mean, i can't restrain myself and i should

TGAAPQ (Mr. Que), Monday, 9 November 2009 22:04 (sixteen years ago)

Provates--their new album is great, much improved over that EP last year

TGAAPQ (Mr. Que), Monday, 9 November 2009 22:05 (sixteen years ago)

kinda feel like derailing LJ's epic poll thread and protest vehemently that he should have included track 6 from the last Provates album.

sarahel, Monday, 9 November 2009 22:07 (sixteen years ago)

Wait was the Neil

bamcquern, Sunday, 22 November 2009 19:43 (sixteen years ago)

what? I didn't catch that. But my hearing's been for shit since I was a kid.

sarahel, Sunday, 22 November 2009 19:48 (sixteen years ago)

100 miles isn't really very far - there are people out here that commute that distance to work every day.

I said basically the same thing when I got a ticket for not having my headlights on over the weekend driving my mom's truck.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 22:02 (sixteen years ago)

i wouldn't mind being a mod, actually.

sarahel, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 22:05 (sixteen years ago)

I just noticed this thread happening. So that comment happened near the beginning of the thread?

I can't

Gravel Puzzleworth, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 22:22 (sixteen years ago)

Agree with, like, the sentiment of the words? Or the entire musical aesthetic? Maybe I shouldn't ask. Maybe this should be a safe place.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 22:23 (sixteen years ago)

I wasn't gonna ask what you can't, but this is a haven, so I didn't.

sarahel, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 22:25 (sixteen years ago)

that guy is an old friend and collaborator of my boss. He's a good player.

sarahel, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 23:15 (sixteen years ago)

Ned? You worried about pulling a Suzy?

bamcquern, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 23:16 (sixteen years ago)

Yeah, and violating my new self-imposed posting limitations.

sarahel, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 23:17 (sixteen years ago)

He's brilliant. My fave is The Crux? I gave it to one of my best friends, so I might've forgotten the title since it's been away.

bamcquern, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 23:19 (sixteen years ago)

we have a couple of his albums at work - he's a good guy, a little grumpy. I haven't actually listened to his albums, but I've seen him live. This is the case with a lot of music for me, actually.

sarahel, Wednesday, 2 December 2009 23:20 (sixteen years ago)

If "Hounds of Love" were released today, half of the people raving about it would hate it.

M.V., Thursday, 3 December 2009 00:27 (sixteen years ago)

you have as much chance of becoming a mod as me

a. cole, u thic (acoleuthic), Thursday, 3 December 2009 00:49 (sixteen years ago)

my ambitions are quite low - i'd feel thoroughly satisfied being mod of a sub-board only me and two other people post to. I just want to make up fake user names.

sarahel, Thursday, 3 December 2009 02:13 (sixteen years ago)

You can register fake gmail addys and make fake user accounts based on them. The mods will know, though, based on your IP.

Of course I want frosting. I'm a Scorpio. (kenan), Thursday, 3 December 2009 02:23 (sixteen years ago)

too much work.

sarahel, Thursday, 3 December 2009 02:26 (sixteen years ago)

Everyone who plays an instrument even kind of well. People who speak two languages. People who do hard math. People in science.

The guy in that anecdote was an artist in the Whitney Biennial.

sarahel, Thursday, 3 December 2009 03:17 (sixteen years ago)

I'd have given him at least an 8.

sarahel, Monday, 7 December 2009 20:02 (sixteen years ago)

sarahel, Wednesday, 9 December 2009 20:41 (sixteen years ago)

on second thought, 5 might be more accurate.

9. WDYLL (Feat. Nice & Smooth) (los blue jeans), Saturday, 12 December 2009 00:24 (sixteen years ago)

3000 miles is still too far away.

sarahel, Saturday, 12 December 2009 16:56 (sixteen years ago)

is that why you wrote all those luke-warm half-assed reviews?

sarahel, Saturday, 12 December 2009 18:37 (sixteen years ago)

Ok I don’t see the “something sharp” post as being specifically directed at anyone… though I am assuming zach and ivy were the targets of the “shitbags” post which is … ugh, gross, no.

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:50 (one year ago)

And even though I disagree with xyzzz on some things, I think it’s rude to say he isn’t a valuable poster, or at least as valuable a poster as unperson.

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:55 (one year ago)

It is clearly aimed at someone because the whole point of this thread is to passive agressively post what you'd actually like to post somewhere else but worry would be too incindiary (this thread is not a good idea). I have no idea who that someone is but frankly the image is gross no matter what.

Daniel_Rf, Saturday, 9 November 2024 18:58 (one year ago)

That wasn’t the initial point of this thread ffs! It makes me annoyed that it has come to be perceived this way.

Initially it was like, things you wanted to post but by the time you were in posting mode, the discussion had shifted such that your post would have been a derail or not constructive. Or just random things that were derails in general. And the concept was that it had the same structure as a normal discussion thread, but it wasn’t a discussion, so it is just this absurd text.

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 19:04 (one year ago)

And it was started at a point in ilx where bmcquern and I had people annoyed at us for derailing threads, so this is where we would post instead.

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 19:06 (one year ago)

Ok fair, I don't think I was paying too much attention to ILX when it was first created...it is what it's now used for tho, almost exclusively afaict, and yeah I don't think that's good.

Daniel_Rf, Saturday, 9 November 2024 19:10 (one year ago)

I would love for this thread to go back to its roots tbh

sarahell, Saturday, 9 November 2024 19:12 (one year ago)

maybe start a new thread with that explicit premise and lock this one because this one is toxic af

Humanitarian Pause (Tracer Hand), Saturday, 9 November 2024 19:18 (one year ago)
