Seeing how I have a MASSIVE cellphone bill, I'll think I'll skip that. And I do mean MASSIVE. I am calling on monday to "negotiate"'. Urgh
― Nathalie (stevienixed), Friday, 25 September 2009 17:59 (sixteen years ago)
my bill has stayed the same every month since I got it. i mostly use it for checking email and surfing, though. :-/

Well, I stupidly git myself a lame ass plan which covered... maybe five connections. As a result I have to pay so much... Could have bought food for a small country for a year. But apparently you can "negotiate" (they wave the invoice if you get on a more expensive plan). SIGH.

i have a question: so I had some apps I bought, but had to wipe and restore my phone. I couldn't restore my phone from the backup or it was still fucked, had to start anew. Is there any way to get the apps I bought back without paying for them again?
― akm, Saturday, 26 September 2009 13:35 (sixteen years ago)
I believe Apple will let you re-download apps you've already paid for at no charge. If you try d/l'ing one, it should prompt you that you've already downloaded and ask you to confirm, but you shouldn't be charged.
― a wicked 60s beat poop combo (Pancakes Hackman), Saturday, 26 September 2009 13:51 (sixteen years ago)
it didn't, and it charged me, which is lame
― akm, Saturday, 26 September 2009 14:29 (sixteen years ago)
that doesn't make sense
― cutty, Saturday, 26 September 2009 14:32 (sixteen years ago)
yeah I know? I can't even figure out where to ask this question of itunes/appstore
― akm, Saturday, 26 September 2009 15:21 (sixteen years ago)
(FWIW: I had to wipe my phone because visual voicemail crapped out completely. restoring it to factory state got that back. but resynching as the 'same' phone on my computer put back whatever software settings fucked it up in the first place and it stopped working again, so I had to go back to the factory state, then reimport all my contacts)

nath the same thing happened to me when I used my iphone in australia but the woman backdated a better plan to the beginning of my bill cycle so i paid $100ish instead of $400ish

tracer, in the byline settings there's an option to cache web pages. i'm still not sure that'll help for what you want, but it's something
― jergins, Sunday, 27 September 2009 03:31 (sixteen years ago)
they should all still be on your itunes
― fountain bleaut (s1ocki), Sunday, 27 September 2009 16:15 (sixteen years ago)

my iphone is seriously bugging since the 3.1 firmware...
Anyone tried boxcar? it's a push thingy for facebook, twitter and email.
― spiny doughboy (baaderonixx), Monday, 28 September 2009 09:09 (sixteen years ago)
I don't understand why the big recent update to the facebook app didn't incorporate push notifications, it really needs them.
― JimD, Monday, 28 September 2009 09:40 (sixteen years ago)
So to recap, I just got an iPhone. What apps should I get?
― Ronan, Monday, 28 September 2009 10:39 (sixteen years ago)
I phoned up the cellphone company and they are waving my bill! HURRAH! Well, they'll deduct the invoices of the MASSIVE amount I paid. They did block internet on 3G. Don't give a fucking shit if they did cause I'm not keen to pay four digit bills. I didn't realize they count every connection as 5 minutes regardless of how long you are online and that they charge extra on large amounts transferred. Belgium is renowned for dodgy cellphone companies. :-(

ronan, get instapaper, facebook, remote (if you also have a mac), netnewswire (if you're into RSS), and twitterific (if u have twitter). I like toy camera too. it "lomo-fies" pictures on the iphone, e.g.

oooh loving the camera apps!
Toronto-area people can get a fairly reliable TTC (transit) app in the form of Red Rocket.
I don’t have many other apps to recommend but I love playing Freecell & Euchre. I'm so cool. I also made ILX look like it has an app, by choosing "Add to Home Screen" in the browser.

I'm addicted to Worms. Other than that just get apps for web pages you might use regularly - Flickr, Facebook, Twitter(ific) etc etc.
― Sickamous (Scik Mouthy), Monday, 28 September 2009 18:38 (sixteen years ago)

― baout.com (dyao), Wednesday, 30 September 2009 10:31 (sixteen years ago)
Long time Remember the Milk user. You have to be a subscriber to the website though, which I think is 10 a year. Worth it, for me.
