NROWorld returns to regularly scheduled programming:

Hey, despair is a sin, so stop frowning! Elections come, elections go, but (yes, this is leading up to a sales pitch) great literature endures. Get your kids some great of NR’s wonderful new books this Christmas – you can order them safely and happily at the NRO Bookstore.

I wonder how much advice Grand Moff Baker gave the prez. Firing Rumsfeld is the kind of pragmatist decision only he could recommend.

Edward III (edward iii), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 19:41 (nineteen years ago)

Bush actually did pretty well, I think. Fairly articulate, though still flailing about trying to cover his ass and spin the losses at points. He was right to smack down the reporter who asked him to explain the comments made two days ago about Rumsfeld staying on about forty-five seconds after he'd already explained himself. His justifications (hadn't met w/ people, made final decision, not wanting to announce it right before election) were valid.

He may have some surprises up his sleeve for possibly Schwarzeneggerification of last two years of his presidency, but I guess we'll see.

Tim Ellison (Tim Ellison), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 19:42 (nineteen years ago)

Tim, this is neither an R.E.M. nor Beatles thread.

oh the lolz.

researching ur life (grady), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 19:43 (nineteen years ago)

He has no surprises. He has no reason for living anymore - already "showed up his daddy" (two terms, captured Saddam = I R THE BESTEST take that Daddy who never believed in me), and there's no more elections for him to win. He's lost, adrift, a rudderless boat.

Shakey Mo Collier (Shakey Mo Collier), Wednesday, 8 November 2006 19:44 (nineteen years ago)

pearls of wisdom from Tucker Carlson last night

All that's left is for him to personaly shoot clinton in the face.

that Tucker Carlson transcript is amazing.
