I just walked by the big Ben's Chili Bowl 50th Anniversary lineup on U street and I spotted many celebrities, no doubt, but I mistook them all for unusually well-mannered DC buppies because I am a rangy white bigot and a fool who did not know it was Ben's 50th bash with celebrities attending

I seriously did not read the news today and my situational awareness was so bad I probably could have looked Bill Cosby right in the eye and thought "man that guy looks a lot like Bill Cosby, wow"

very nice guy. we didn't have toooo much of a conversation. mostly me being like "you can have this record for free" (cuz he spent a lot of money) and then him asking for the new location of our manhattan store. but yes, very nice and humble and friendly.

i saw peter bogdanovich the other day, looking kinda old but still rocking that little scarf/ascot thing

- Walked past Chris Noth on the way to work this morning. He is genuinely pretty large. Managed not to say "I really liked your one line as a tranny hooker in that Richard Hell movie."

- Also Law & Order-wise: saw Bebe Neuwirth this summer, standing on a streetcorner in bike shorts waiting for someone. Bebe Neuwirth is fantastically gorgeous.

- Couple weeks ago: bumped into Lukas Haas's bike. Did a whole "oops, sorry" / "no, my bad, Lukas Haas" thing.

Also, maybe from spring: walked past the guy who played Michel on Gilmore Girls, and was getting really excited about it, then noticed curly-haired scientist-guy from Bones walking right behind him (some sort of casting was going on nearby, maybe?) -- this was sort of trippy, in that having two minorish network-TV actors just wandering around created a weird Truman Show effect where it felt like all the people around in daily life were being replaced by actors

i, too, have seen chris noth (wearing a terrible sweatsuit) and bebe neuwirth recently! also adam duritz (his apt is right by my office), daniel day lewis (in that ridiculous leggings/big hat/plaid cape ensemble), kevin corrigan (<3), and hilary duff.
