I'm guessing somewhere in the north east of the US - Massachussets or somesuch? Might be way off though. Any clues?

This is based on trees and scenery looking like it would be somewhere geographically similar to Northern Europe, but that one building and the grid layout of the roads looking American. Am I on the right lines?

i think it's probably a former french colony based on that license plate. it looks tropical and too nice to be french west africa. mauritius? reunion?

I was a confused at first by this. It does have a former French colony kind of vibe, but I was thrown off by the Romanian looking house with the orange sloped roof on the left hand side of the road on the right

The problem with any of those colonies is the streetview footage looks like a 1970s postcard. It doesn't rule them out but if that original image is from streetview and it kind of looks like it is, it sort of rules out most of them hmm

The other problem with French colonies is that in addition to streetview being shot on a potato, it looks like their poles have the holes filled in, unlike Romania

Graffiti says Chatelet with a circumflex and number plates look French. This is a French overseas territory, I'd say somewhere with a Caribbean vibe. Guadeloupe, Martinique or French Guiana.

It's a flat, spread out urban area, and the urban areas of Guadeloupe and Martinique seem less flat and more compact. I would guess Cayenne, except Cayenne doesn't have google street view, which is where I'm supposing these images are taken from.

Good one, flopped spectacularly at this one!

The pole with the holes really threw me, I couldn't see those anywhere in any of the French colonies. They seemingly all had poles that were indented but filled in. Discounted FG early due to the potato quality of the street view there and not seeing that type of pole in Cayenne

got their through the church in the background. did check out Guadeloupe and Martinique as well, but Guyana seemed much more likely and it is very light on urban development, so it wasn’t too hard to find the right spire.

the other arabic cities i've looked at - riyadh, kuwait city, baghdad - are a lot denser and older.

Was thinking suburbs of Muscat, but a quick googleview throws up white boxes rather than that ornate style.

Got it! This is the place with the highest ever wet bulb temperature reading.

For the similarly interested:

Ras Al Khaimah is notable for it's climate that is particularly hot and wet even for the region. The highest ever recorded wet bulb temperature from a reputable weather station was at Ras Al Khaimah International airport with a WT of 36.3°C. Because high humidity makes cooling down via perspiration less effective, it makes hot temperatures feel significantly hotter. Wet bulb temperatures above 35°C can prove fatal even for healthy adults.

Somehow I don't think I'll be putting Ras Al-Khaimah on my bucket list...

I only found one of the two images, even though they seem like they must be pretty close to each other. I think this is mainly because looking at Ras Al Khaimah was having a negative effect on my mental health.
