Bill Clinton tells everybody to chill

Shakey Mo Collier, Monday, 31 March 2008 15:57 (eighteen years ago)

If only he had taken his lessons from another, somewhat greater Arnold performance:

John Connor: Yeah. Or, "Later dickwad." If someone gets upset you say, "Chill out." Or you can do combinations.
The Terminator: Chill out, dickwad.

Doctor Casino, Monday, 31 March 2008 18:05 (eighteen years ago)

he really was born to play an emotionless robot

latebloomer, Monday, 31 March 2008 18:08 (eighteen years ago)

Emotionless cybernetic organism.

"I need to get more diamonds, from my hideout." 3

I've never actually heard this line uttered but it's pretty fantastic sitting there on the page. The comma makes it work.

Doctor Casino, Monday, 31 March 2008 23:04 (eighteen years ago)

That and the unnecessariness of the second clause. Of course he keeps his diamonds in his hideout.

"Allow me to break the ice. My name is Freeze. Learn it well. For it's the chilling sound of your doom."

this one amuses me because it's so belabored yet it scares absolutely no one

latebloomer, Monday, 31 March 2008 23:10 (eighteen years ago)

and arnold's delivery of it just makes it even more unwieldy and ridiculous sounding

latebloomer, Monday, 31 March 2008 23:11 (eighteen years ago)

I'm going to watch the Rifftrax version of this tonight

Elvis Telecom, Monday, 31 March 2008 23:12 (eighteen years ago)

oh man i wish i had a copy handy to do the rifftrax thing with this

this is on TV right now. I've never seen it before. kinda amazing.

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 22 May 2008 18:10 (eighteen years ago)

amazing in a "completely incomprehensible and nonsensical from one shot to the next/I can't believe this got released by a major studio" kinda way

Shakey Mo Collier, Thursday, 22 May 2008 18:11 (eighteen years ago)

The Rifftrax is also definitely worth it.

Pull Slinky and Make Me Fart (Eisbaer), Friday, 5 June 2009 04:01 (seventeen years ago)

the timeline goes like this iirc

--McBain says "Ice to see you" as general Arnold parody in 1994
--Batman and Robin comes out in 1997, and I end up saying "Ice to see you" to my friend like 100 times before movie comes out, pretty much every time the preview airs, annoying the piss out of him.
--I watch movie (sucks) and that line doesn't actually appear in it.

y'all wasted yr votes

Whiney G. Weingarten, Friday, 5 June 2009 04:47 (seventeen years ago)

Also, watching this clip reveals plenty of other candidates. And it looks like it's not "Everybody chill!" but "All right, everyone! Chill! Chill! Chill!"

Still think "hideout," though having no ice references, was robbed.

Doctor Casino, Friday, 5 June 2009 05:14 (seventeen years ago)

This is my favorite Batman movie!

sassy cassie (Tape Store), Friday, 5 June 2009 05:40 (seventeen years ago)

John Simon's review (from what I remember) contained one of his all-time funniest descriptions: "...like watching a Halloween-themed gay pride festival."

And this insight:

"The way beautiful women are almost systematically demeaned and made ridiculous in this film (more so than usual) betrays, it would seem, an anti-hetero stance."

The latter quote is also ironic because I think the screenwriter lives in Provincetown, MA.

Cunga, Friday, 5 June 2009 06:24 (seventeen years ago)

"I need to get more diamonds, from my hideout." was robbed

vs.

[Hudson Hawk has just decapitated a villain]
"Looks like you won't be attending that hat convention, in July."

the comma makes them both.

Haha from the screencap I thought this was going to be a clip from some indie skit making fun of the movie, not clips from the movie itself.

The multi-talented F.R. David (Billy Dods), Sunday, 24 July 2011 19:49 (fourteen years ago)

oh this is totally worth seeing. thankfully i was old enough when it came out to appreciate the 0_o factor rather than be indignant at the Seriousness of Batman being tarnished or some bullshit, like i prolly woulda been a few years earlier.

now i have to go get some more diamonds, from my hideout.

"kick some ice" should prolly have won this poll, imo

Love the delivery on that one, he really savors it.

Doctor Casino, Monday, 25 July 2011 15:27 (fourteen years ago)

Was "Have an ice day!" too prosaic for Goldsman?
