i just got a yellow card on the noise board, btw, for admitting i had a dream about killy last night.

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 5 March 2006 18:45 (twenty years ago)

That wasn't a typo, it was a weird joke. Intentional.

n/a (Nick A.), Sunday, 5 March 2006 18:47 (twenty years ago)

This is a lame waffle, but unless I'm forgetting about something else I have to do tomorrow night, I'm up for Moody's.

Eazy (Eazy), Sunday, 5 March 2006 18:47 (twenty years ago)

(But I'll double-check and know for sure, so that Manda is not left sitting alone in The Grotto next to The Fireplace eating The Fries on her own.)

Eazy (Eazy), Sunday, 5 March 2006 18:51 (twenty years ago)

Hey, I would go to your Oscar party if I weren't already blowing off another Oscar party I was invited to in order to complete my take-home Thai exam, which is really hard and is due tomorrow and has already made my head blow up.

We can revisit the Moody's plan tomorrow if anyone decides to change his/her mind and join me in The Grotto of Moody.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Sunday, 5 March 2006 18:55 (twenty years ago)

There's some funny wind action outside my window that is making the snow fall up, like the bubbles in a Guinness. Pretty cool.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 18:58 (twenty years ago)

I went to Tweet.

Jeff. (Jeff), Sunday, 5 March 2006 19:02 (twenty years ago)

Hi! Come over to Nick's tonite to watch the Oscars with Nick and Sarah and Me and Kelsey.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 19:04 (twenty years ago)

Oh, and bring Jenny. She's alright for a girl.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 19:04 (twenty years ago)

I don't know, maybe. Sundays are for sulking for me, and I hate to do that around other people. We'll see!

Jeff. (Jeff), Sunday, 5 March 2006 19:08 (twenty years ago)

You still have several hours left to sulk. If you get on that now, you will be tired of it by 6 o'clock.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 19:10 (twenty years ago)

DEAR JAYMC SORRY I MISSED YOUR IM I WAS DOWNSTAIRS MAKING GRILLED CHEESE I WAS NOT HATIN ON YOU!

tehresa (tehresa), Sunday, 5 March 2006 19:46 (twenty years ago)

OKAY I AM NOT OFFENDED, I HOPE YOUR GRILLED CHEESE WAS SOYTASTIC

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 5 March 2006 19:54 (twenty years ago)

Ooh, my new tea kettle sounds like a melodica when it whistles!

jaymc (jaymc), Sunday, 5 March 2006 20:13 (twenty years ago)

Oh nice. I need me a teakettle. I have an electric water-boiling thing which is cool because I can stick it in my bag and take it to work, but it's not exactly "homey."

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 20:15 (twenty years ago)

Holy shit, I just bought a fucking dining table set.

Jordan (Jordan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 22:35 (twenty years ago)

Holy shit, you're totally married.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 23:08 (twenty years ago)

We don't even have a dining room and we're married. We eat on the coffee table in the living room.

Jeff. (Jeff), Sunday, 5 March 2006 23:57 (twenty years ago)

It's okay, we still have a rickety futon instead of a couch.

Maddie bought a wine rack too, but, uh, the holes are too big for wine bottles. We think it's a champagne rack, maybe?

Jordan (Jordan), Sunday, 5 March 2006 23:58 (twenty years ago)

Or maybe a bad wine rack.

Shiny Maroon (kenan), Monday, 6 March 2006 00:03 (twenty years ago)

Good morning. I had a terrible night: after waking up at 2 with one of the three worst headaches of my entire life, I wasn't able to get back to sleep for a couple hours, convinced that I was having an aneurysm (caused by my take-home exam, maybe?!?!?! it was THAT hard) and didn't get nearly enough sleep. Also, I don't think it's a great idea for me to drink beers with a headache that might come back, so I hope no one is too disappointed if I call off the Moody's fun-time fireplace-and-beer party?

How were everyone's Oscar parties? Oh wait, you're not up yet.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Monday, 6 March 2006 13:18 (twenty years ago)

Or maybe a bad wine rack.

I was trying to be an optimist.

Good morning. Maddie and I actually ended up going over to Evan's to watch the Oscars, and it was good fun. Good people, good beers, good food, good jokes.

headache + beers = :(

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 March 2006 14:37 (twenty years ago)

Boo!

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:16 (twenty years ago)

Sorry man, I really don't feel good! Why donchoo email me - handymanda at geeeeemail.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:18 (twenty years ago)

Kenan came over.

I enjoyed Jon Stewart. I thought Reese and Drew should be BFF if they aren't already. The "It's so hard bein' a pimp" song had funny choreography, as did the Crash theme song.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:23 (twenty years ago)

The Crash set/dance/song was the worst thing I've ever seen (esp. the "police molestation dance").

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:24 (twenty years ago)

I mean, also "boo!" that you don't feel good.

We missed the early parts of the Oscars. Were there any OMG AWEXXXOME John Stewart moments then that I should try and download?

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:27 (twenty years ago)

Hmm... I can't think of one in particular. He was pretty tame, but still funny. Kenan kept complaining they made him look old with makeup.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:28 (twenty years ago)

I thought there were some good JS moments.

"Do you think that if we toppled that big Oscar statue, democracy would flourish in Hollywood?"

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:30 (twenty years ago)

sorry i couldn't make it last night, nick, sarah & kenan! from saturday on I was pretty convinced I was getting the stomach flu.

Sweet Tater (kelstarry), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:31 (twenty years ago)

He is old.

We are all old.

I am way too old.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:31 (twenty years ago)

And after the big self-righteous "Hollywood makes movies about IMPORTANT ISSUES, thus making the world BETTER" montage:

(very slowly and seriously) "...and none of those were ever issues again." etc.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:32 (twenty years ago)

OH, I just remembered another one.

After a really long montage about epics, he said something to the effect of, "We're now officially out of film clips. Seriously, if you have ANY film clips at home, please mail them to us as soon as possible." Also: "Coming up next we will have a montage about film montages."

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:35 (twenty years ago)

Like with most big TV events, I watched about 5 minutes of the Oscars. But I did see the moment that Jordan just quoted, and it was enough for me.

My weekend in WI was fun. Door County is pretty nice this time of year, (the bed and breakfast was cheap yet opulent) but I don't know if I'd want to be there when the touristas are out in full force.

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:38 (twenty years ago)

Hahaha. What's up with giving best actor and actress awards to people who do impressions? Also, Crash?

Jaymc: high heels
=
Me: Oscars

Traveling off-season: classic.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:38 (twenty years ago)

Wow, I thought you were just going to Milwaukee.

How cheap is cheap, if you don't mind my asking? I've never stayed in a B&B, but I love both of those things.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:39 (twenty years ago)

I liked PSHoffman's winning best actor, even though I didn't see Capote.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:40 (twenty years ago)

I did see Capote, and liked it, but still -- I guess it just seems cheap that both awards went to people in biopics.

The Milkmaid (82375538-A) (The Milkmaid), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:44 (twenty years ago)

I was hypnotized by Reese Witherspoon's freaky prehensile eyebrow.

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:46 (twenty years ago)

Jesse and I took the trip to Milwaukee yesterday. To go to a bookstore. Which we spent HOURS at, and could have easily spent hours more at. Because it was a fantastic bookstore. Although Jesse did have to excuse himself at some point to take pictures of deer frozen into the river.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:49 (twenty years ago)

Cheap = $80/night. Bear in mind that this is in a mansion and we were the only people there besides the hosts. Breakfast each morning, for what we had, would probably have cost upwards of 40 bucks each day. There was an in-room whirlpool and free wireless. No in room TV but a big media room where again, we were the only users. All in all it was great. The price goes up (doubles?) in the warmer months, btw. xxpost

Steely Df'nM (OutDatWay), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:50 (twenty years ago)

The Crash set/dance/song was the worst thing I've ever seen.

Oof. I know. I thought the dancing hookers for the pimp song were real fucking classy, too. Also, somehow I still fail to have any pimp-sympathy.

Thank you for the invite, N&S&K. Alas, I had to do laundry and read for class while watching, so could not incorporate leaving our apartment into the plans. Jeff and I both really wanted to come over, though, and we decided that it would be very helpful to us if you both would just move into our building.

xpost: OMG the eyebrow! THE EYEBROW! What was that all about?????

Nutsy the Squirrel (pullapartgirl), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:50 (twenty years ago)

Also, Jen Garner's makeup made it look like she had a horrible sunburn on her forehead.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:55 (twenty years ago)

That's right. She lets me call her Jen.

Sarah Madkitten McLusky (coco), Monday, 6 March 2006 15:56 (twenty years ago)

Pimpathy.

OMG Chris, what bookstore are you talking about?

Jordan (Jordan), Monday, 6 March 2006 16:00 (twenty years ago)

W00dl@nd P@tt3rn.

I'm googleproofing it because it is shy.

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 6 March 2006 16:01 (twenty years ago)

Best if you like: experimental 20th C. poetry. Also good for: A fiction section that is huge and has nothing you've heard of, or, as my friend pointed out, only the obscure books by people you've heard of. A bookstore where they had several books by people I knew on display. (They also had haikunym's books, but not on display. I didn't explore the children's section beyond that, because we were starving by then.)

Casuistry (Chris P), Monday, 6 March 2006 16:03 (twenty years ago)

i watched most of the oscars but missed the pimp dance and the speech before/after somehow because i got bored and went online for a bit and was reading about this pic, which amused me.

http://cache.deadspin.com/sports/ooopstexas.jpg

it's not really nsfw, i would think, because you kind of have to look twice for what they are saying is an optical illusion.

Juulia (julesbdules), Monday, 6 March 2006 16:06 (twenty years ago)

I am overloaded from the Oscars and then going out with Kenan, Chris, and Jesse. Soooo tired.

Disappointed about Crash, obv.

jaymc (jaymc), Monday, 6 March 2006 16:07 (twenty years ago)

Wow, I'm not familiar with that place at all.
