They're not even really hiking pants. I have no idea what I'm supposed to go hiking in or why I'm suddenly interested in going hiking, other than I'm going stir crazy.

Is there such a thing as hiking sandals?

ljubljana, Sunday, 6 September 2009 04:22 (fourteen years ago) link

i think so?

tehresa, Sunday, 6 September 2009 04:24 (fourteen years ago) link

Well I don't have those either.

ljubljana, Sunday, 6 September 2009 04:24 (fourteen years ago) link

i have known people to do light hiking in keens or tevas.

tehresa, Sunday, 6 September 2009 04:27 (fourteen years ago) link

crazy saturday, old flatmates moved out, new ones signed lease, huge night out including at least one ilxor, back home now with nobody living here except me until tomorrow. all kind of insane, so much change, which is actually good.

xpost I have some suede-like trainers that I can't even find or some hilarious red Vans with flowers on them. I think I am going for those and the jorts (thanks velko) as they will set each other off perfectly and the group will need someone to laugh merrily about as it sets off.

i am debating getting netflix. should i?

tehresa, Sunday, 13 September 2009 07:03 (fourteen years ago) link

bf played a last-minute gig tonight, so i had a bit of stag time... did some record/dvd shopping, ate bad pizza, listened to the feelies, mucked around on the internet.

teh: netflix is very worth it if you actually have/make the time to watch the movies in rapid succession. sometimes i do, sometimes i don't. my current stash has been sitting in the mailers for a couple weeks, but i'm usually pretty good at turnaround.

how is the online streaming stuff?i don't have a tv right now so it's all computer screen watching for me so the dvd vs. computer stream thing isn't a big deal. i just mean like, selection-wise. cause i'd only want to pay for the 1 at a time dvd part.

did you find good things in your shopping?

tehresa, Sunday, 13 September 2009 07:13 (fourteen years ago) link

there's a ton of online streaming stuff but it's very random. some big movies. lots of obscure stuff. lots of bad movies.

I do the same thing w/ the 1 dvd a time and it's def worth $8 a month, even if I go a week without watching a movie.

yep!

iatee otm, the streaming stuff is random. and certain selections get taken down after a while (like 30 rock, which is only streaming until october).

four months pass...

So I was all set for a weekend of clubbing and shenanigans in London with all my best mates, really excited, and I go and paralyse myself in the back this morning during the simple act of brushing my teeth. Now I can't even change channels on the TV without wincing in pain while everyone else is getting their MANDY on on the dancefloor. :-(

determined to stay in then went out and got drunk and danced with heartbreakingly gorgeous girls who were mates with a mate of a mate and who were also mostly married but had sublime taste in music and then drunk and then home.

Starcraft 2 as substitute for meaningful human interaction, yaaay

Thinking about watching a movie or two to try and get rid of the horrible brainstink left by John Boorman's Film Of Exorcist II: The Heretic (as the title sequence would have it). HOW CAN A MOVIE SUCK THIS BADLY? I've known and loved the Morricone soundtrack for ages, and loved or at least liked the other Boorman movies I've seen (Deliverance, Point Blank [one of my alltime favorites] and Zardoz [the kind of hilarious overreaching failure I hoped Exorcist 2 would be]) but this was just absolute dogshit.

The Beatles are not pizza!!! (Eisbaer), Sunday, 1 August 2010 05:54 (thirteen years ago) link

this is like the first non-boring saturday in a while for me. all my fun days are weekdays. usually i'm too exhausted from work to be fun but tonight was pretty alright. i was at this art show which was kinda fun but mostly blah, but then i got sauced on cheap pitchers of beer and danced with a drag queen, and all sorts of folks, and ok my girlfriend has to work early and went home, but hell with it i'll sleep the hell in and enjoy the day off.

Wiped way the fuck out on my bike. I was thinking of safety, ironically -- I looked down to turn my front light brighter, and missed a sharp curve. Ended up in the grass with some bruises and a little mild road rash, which was nice, because the object I was most trying to avoid was a concrete pole. That would have been quite nasty. Hooray for tightening up my front brake this morning. I'm so glad this was a boring Saturday night injury instead of an exciting Saturday night trip to the emergency room. The jogger that stopped and asked if I was OK was v nice -- I was just out of it enough to offer him a cigarette. He declined, and decided I was ok at that point. I said thanks to him again as I rode past him a few minutes later.

"you could be 40 in a college town."

Yeah this crossed my mind.

This is the short version of why I do not live in Austin, TX anymore. Look away for a second, and you're 40 years old smoking pot on someone else's back porch, and -- here's the real problem -- that doesn't strike you as odd at all.

kenan, Sunday, 1 August 2010 06:15 (thirteen years ago) link

well, the town where i live has a college ... and a lot of college students (or recent college grads). and i am 40 now. draw whatever conclusions you want.
