sux cuz the wburg location is overrun with douchenozzles 24/7.

the wburg one is supposed to close also. the same people are apparently opening something else in the ft green location.

RIP bonita u will be hella missed--ur tacos were subpar but ur specials were always excellent--and u even made good tequila cocktails--see u in heavan

i really liked going there for micheladas in the summer.

finally had one of those spicy cumin lamb hamburgers at the flushing mall basement. Pretty damn good.

bourdain went there on his show. these things look great.want!

they don't serve beer here though, that is an interesting addition

duck fat fries are not worth the hype imo

i've had duck fat fries before--they were good, but yeah, not significantly better than any other good french fry.

Andrew Tarlow and Mark Firth of Marlow and Sons, etc., have decided on a name for their redo of Bonita in Fort Greene, Brooklyn. It will be called Roman’s. It’s the name of Mr. Tarlow’s son, and has nothing to do with the food at the restaurant, which will be opening in a couple of weeks.

Where should I eat tonight?

I never eat out - I live on takeout and groceries. This is sort of a special occaision, so unfortuantely no "hole(s)-in-the wall with the best ____ ever!".

Conditions:
Manhattan below 42nd st or somewhere along B/D/Q/2/3/4/5 in BK.
Great food
Casual but nice atmosphere
Bar 'cause I am going solo
Reasonable price (around $40 for salad + entree, 2 beers and a tip)

I can't seem to narrow down a cuisine but I know I don't want East Asian cuisine unless the cooking is interesting or unique - I eat plenty of standard Thai/Vietnamese/Chinese for lunch.

Do you like sushi?

yes but not for this meal. should have remembered to mention that.

at brunch at rye in wilmsbrg the other day - it was pretty rad n savory

i like yola's for mexican, vinnie's for pizza.

don't actually get delivery too much. but most places deliver. the sushi place i frequent most is called Mizu.

Jimmy's Diner is goody for greasy comfort food--burgers, wings, friedy chicken.

delivery is one of the main reasons i live in ny - thx for the recommends - feel free to post more anytime

avoid dumont burger. for delivery burger i dunno what to tell ya, but for good sit-down burger i enjoy Spikehill. during the day is best as it can get busy in there at night.

i don't really have a go-to thai spot. i kinda like thai thai on bedford.

red bowl is a step above plexiglass chinese food but not a big one.

free bagel brunch at the brooklyn ale house on weekends.

actually, now that i think of it, M Shanghai is great chinese food. I should go there soon, haven't been for at least a year. Fette Sau is good bbq but no delivery--they do takeout tho.

the food truck on north 3rd between berry & wythe is cool. corn dogs, fish n chips.yy

also no delivery but my deli of choice is at north 7th & driggs--Joe's Busy Corner. great sandwiches.

falafel joint by the L train is aight. i like the bagel store on north 3rd & bedford--large chili and a pumpernickel bagel is a great lunch on rainy days.

the ramen place in greenpoint is still planning on opening, 2 years on...

i think it has to do with permitting and tax forms for multi-national companies, i say this only because it took Ippudo forever to open as well (but not 2 years wtf).

Finally tried SriPraPhai - quite good. We had

Papaya Salad
BBQ Pork with Chili/Lime/Garlic appetizer
Tom Kha Gai
Pork with Mustard Greens soup
Whole steamed bass with soy, ginger and scallion
Coconut ice cream (which had large pieces of coconut meat in it and some kind of strange covering)

Everything was very good. Need to go back with someone who can handle spicy food (the lady cannot, unfortunately).

i LOVE that place so so so much. crispy pork with chinese broccoli ftw. and the whole fish I had there was fantastic; I don't remember the particulars though. and the salads.

ian, how many time's do I have to say it? Zabb Queen's Crispy Pork w/ Chinese Broccoli makes me unable to even eat Srips! It's that much better.

I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO ZABB QUEENS.

I have tentative plans to go to Franny's tomorrow night. Good reviews from ian and icey are encouraging. Anyone else been there? Also, will the wait be ridiculous?

franny's is great, especially for the appetizers/ vegetable dishes; don't just get pizza. i never go on weekends cause i assume the wait will be bad, but not sure.

any tips on a Japanese place that serves good sukiyaki?
