Oh man, I can totally update my "21st century so far" list:

1. Robot hegemony
2. Monkey comeback
3. Re-established robot hegemony
4. Zombie revolution (zombies in, robots out)
5. Failed undercurrent of pirate
6. Wizard remains confined to child-fan ghetto
7. Ninja resurgence
8. Skanks
9. Cowboys
10. SPARTANS (I totally failed to predict this)

New predictions:

1. Skank oversaturation
2. Marines
3. Vikings (with a bullet)
4. Bike cops
5. Ghost comeback
6. Skank backlash

Classics holding strong:

1. Douchebags

It's Over

C. Grisso/McCain, Thursday, 17 May 2007 16:28 (seventeen years ago) link

The new "Gossip Girl," about a group of prep school teenagers in Manhattan, will be given the biggest push. The CW scheduled it for Wednesdays at 9 p.m. after its top-rated program, "America's Next Top Model."

The CW's only new comedy, "Aliens in America," is about a high school student trying to adjust to a Pakistani exchange student. "Life is Wild" is a drama about a New York City family spending a year at a game reserve in South Africa

The new drama "Reaper" features one of the CW's oldest new characters: a 21-year-old. His parents sold his soul to the devil and he's assigned to track down evil escapees from hell.

On Sunday nights, the network will debut "The CW Now," an entertainment-oriented newsmagazine for 18-to-34-year-olds. "Online Nation" will talk about what's hot on the Web.

In midseason, the CW will bring on a reality show, "Farmer Wants a Wife," about a country guy choosing among 10 women fed up with big-city prospects.

fuck. i really kinda wanted to see the FBI idea, could've turned out cool. maybe they can put those 4th season 'trailers' on the season 3 DVD?

can we start handicapping the odds of a) Rob Thomas getting another series or b) Kristen Bell having a movie career that involves better projects than 'Pulse'?

Alex in Baltimore, Thursday, 17 May 2007 16:35 (seventeen years ago) link

or c) VM getting picked up by another network? Or does the CW own the show?

Rock Hardy, Thursday, 17 May 2007 16:39 (seventeen years ago) link

these last two eps (just saw them today) were better than the previous one but not hard

there was even a funny bit, when veronica said to keith, about the fall in robberies, "I smell trend!". much better than the awful refs and rubbish jokes that fall flat

parker is so annoying. the only characters I like are cliff, wallace (underused and boring, this season, though), keith, sometimes, and veronica, occasionally. I think scientology has ruined this show for me. logan w/ his lazyface-stupidvoice and piz w/ his...well, he has a stupid face, anyway

not bothered if it's finished

RJG, Thursday, 17 May 2007 16:44 (seventeen years ago) link

what the hell is "the CW"??

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 17 May 2007 16:54 (seventeen years ago) link

The CW Television Network, casually referred to as The CW, or most recently as The New CW (due to it being a new network) is a television network in the United States launched during the 2006 television season. It features a mixture of programming from both UPN and The WB television networks, which ceased independent operations on September 15, 2006 and September 17, 2006 respectively.

RJG, Thursday, 17 May 2007 16:56 (seventeen years ago) link

does it stand for anything?

Tracer Hand, Thursday, 17 May 2007 17:09 (seventeen years ago) link

The CW is a joint venture between CBS Corporation, owner of UPN, and Warner Bros. Entertainment, a subsidiary of Time Warner, majority owner of The WB. Its name derives from the first letter of the names of these two corporations (CBS and Warner Bros.).

RJG, Thursday, 17 May 2007 17:11 (seventeen years ago) link

Canceling Worthwhile Television :(

nabisco, Thursday, 17 May 2007 17:18 (seventeen years ago) link

I liked Piz. I am glad Logan was doing away with all of his jazz hands this season. SAD.

Yerac, Thursday, 17 May 2007 18:50 (seventeen years ago) link

It's gonna be a lonely Tuesday night. RIP Gilmore Girls & Veronica Mars.

Virginia Plain, Thursday, 17 May 2007 21:35 (seventeen years ago) link

RJG, Thursday, 17 May 2007 22:19 (seventeen years ago) link

gershy, Friday, 18 May 2007 03:26 (seventeen years ago) link

yay

Melissa W, Friday, 18 May 2007 05:46 (seventeen years ago) link

The only good thing about Mac+Max - it's pretty much impossible for fans to fuse their names into a "Spuffy"-like word.

V, Friday, 18 May 2007 12:48 (seventeen years ago) link

macx?

RJG, Friday, 18 May 2007 20:06 (seventeen years ago) link

Shit. That finale actually demonstrated a bit of S1-style brilliance.

J, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 02:00 (seventeen years ago) link

the mets get clobbered by the braves and veronica mars ends with an episode that brings back the ******s

what a shitastic end to a craptastic day

maura, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 02:06 (seventeen years ago) link

BleepBot, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 02:54 (seventeen years ago) link

horseshoe, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 02:57 (seventeen years ago) link

wow

Dimension 5ive, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 04:26 (seventeen years ago) link

It was so cruel for them to end with an ep that so reminded me of why I so love this show.

i, grey, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 07:53 (seventeen years ago) link

damn yall, i am now totally tempted to order this. it's import so hellaexpensive but i am craving for some veronica mars.

nathalie, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 08:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Can any Europeans on this thread tell me if they have the region 1 version of season 1, and if it works? I've heard people saying that it works on region 2 players despite being labelled region 1, but I want to be sure.

V, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 11:01 (seventeen years ago) link

I have the region 1 and 2 boxes and it works on my UK player - there is usually a simple, googleable hack to make your DVD player multi-region.

Stevie T, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 11:06 (seventeen years ago) link

(region 1 boxes for seasons 1 and 2 I mean)

Stevie T, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 11:07 (seventeen years ago) link

Thank god I didn't press order: I didn't know there was a reg.1&2.

nathalie, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 11:29 (seventeen years ago) link

Never seen this -- worth renting the first season DVD?

Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:10 (seventeen years ago) link

No, because you will be so heartbroken and distraught that the subsequent seasons are sooooo awful in comparison to the utopian splendour of season 1 that the difference will cause you to wish you'd never seen the show and then kill yourself, or failing that, complain on a message board.

Leee, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:14 (seventeen years ago) link

Ignore Leee, he's a whiner. Rent it.

J, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:17 (seventeen years ago) link

wow, what a bleak ending.

goth casual, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 19:26 (seventeen years ago) link

It's actually an incredibly bleak show, under the sun and quips.

i, grey, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 20:25 (seventeen years ago) link

Thanks for the recommendation, Lee!

(Goes to video store.)

Chuck_Tatum, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 20:44 (seventeen years ago) link

Oh, this show remembered how to be good, right at the end! I felt like it was actually better when it came back after the break.

Did anybody else feel like they were almost shopping it around to be picked up for another season by somebody else? I don't really know if that's likely or what's gone on or anything - it just all felt like set up to me. I wish we'd had some stuff like that from the beginning of series 3, that would have set the whole thing up well.

Suedey, Wednesday, 23 May 2007 20:53 (seventeen years ago) link

Rob Thomas is already talking a VM feature film ala Firefly/Serenity tradition.

i, grey, Thursday, 24 May 2007 03:52 (sixteen years ago) link

I am excited, if there's no Logan. Please God let them ditch Logan.

milo z, Thursday, 24 May 2007 19:22 (sixteen years ago) link

I was actually just remarking that I could get down with a spinoff of Logan and Dick (no homo).

johnny crunch, Thursday, 24 May 2007 20:53 (sixteen years ago) link

those two were depressingly good. reminders of s1 brilliance OTM.

Gukbe, Thursday, 24 May 2007 21:23 (sixteen years ago) link

I think my post was too high-concept!

Leee, Friday, 25 May 2007 01:35 (sixteen years ago) link

very crap

RJG, Tuesday, 29 May 2007 20:47 (sixteen years ago) link

three weeks pass...

I am in love with Logan.

marianna lcl, Sunday, 24 June 2007 22:28 (sixteen years ago) link

no !

RJG, Sunday, 24 June 2007 22:38 (sixteen years ago) link

My TiVO deleted the second storyline, I think, but I started on the last group of eps (with the Arab family) and it was really, really good. Looking forward to a more-Logan-free last six or seven.
