Also it's not like they'll stop making PS2 games: they still make Playstation games.

They still make PS1 games, seriously? And people buy them?

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 14 May 2004 16:38 (twenty years ago) link

Hell yes. It's only in the last year or so in Japan that the Xbox started beating the PS1 on a week by week basis. I think it's mostly cheap cash-ins for kids (in the west, anyway).

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Friday, 14 May 2004 17:05 (twenty years ago) link

time to lay money on odds for voices/songs used in the game:

I vote that Ice Cube's "Steady Mobbin" and a Cypress Hill track will be in there.

Yeah, and Ice Cube would be a great character voice.

"Keep that baby off the STREET!"

Kingfish Disraeli (Kingfish), Friday, 14 May 2004 17:51 (twenty years ago) link

Swimming! Thank god! Having the bastard die every time he fell into the water (eg every time you try to get into a boat and missed) sucked!

Dan I. (Dan I.), Friday, 14 May 2004 19:37 (twenty years ago) link

I just want to let everyone know of my awesome Vigilante mission strategy: get the tank, go to airport and start the mission there. All the target cars spawn either in the runway area itself, or in the adjoining streets, and all you need to do is to touch the cars for them to explode.

Leeefuse 73 (Leee), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:00 (twenty years ago) link

I found it more effective and easier to just use the Apache. Fly around and shoot the fuckers with missles. Doesn't matter how many wanted stars you get either. As long as you're in the air, the feds and the army can't do dick.

martin m. (mushrush), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:03 (twenty years ago) link

Apache def. better than the tank, but I couldn't find enough packages to get the copter.

Leeefuse 73 (Leee), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:04 (twenty years ago) link

Ah, see, the game took me forever to beat, but that's because I spent so much time just sweeping every area for packages and rampages. (I did the same thing with GTA3.) I actually found all of them, and I only consulted a walk through for the last package after spending hours trying to figure out where the hell it was. (Turns out I had just missed it somehow, and it was near the mansion, which was one of the places I was convinced I didn't need to look again.)

martin m. (mushrush), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:07 (twenty years ago) link

I don't think I'll ever finish Vice City.

Jordan (Jordan), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:22 (twenty years ago) link

Interestingly, when you complete all of it, the only thing you get is a new outfit at your mansion. If you run Tommy through it, he ends up wearing jeans and a t-shirt... On the t-shirt it says "I beat GTA Vice City and all I got was this t-shirt."

martin m. (mushrush), Friday, 14 May 2004 20:24 (twenty years ago) link

Three times as much homie shit as Vice City.

So really, 1/10 as much actual music as Vice City.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 02:11 (nineteen years ago) link

"Country music will be included in the game."

Make that 1/20th.

Dirty Muriel (Autumn Almanac), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 02:12 (nineteen years ago) link

Come closer, let me whisper in your ear: Fuck You.

Dan I., Wednesday, 18 August 2004 02:20 (nineteen years ago) link

I think I am a "homie".

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 02:33 (nineteen years ago) link

The game will take place in the early 90s.

GRUNGE!!

Aaron W (Aaron W), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 03:03 (nineteen years ago) link

homies love da grunge.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 03:22 (nineteen years ago) link

you gotta keep 'em separated.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 03:28 (nineteen years ago) link

i so did not need that song in my head.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 03:29 (nineteen years ago) link

Has everyone seen all these super-new screenshots? I can't believe how excited I am about this game. It's getting more and more complex--It's like The Sims with home invasions!

AND MURDER

Jimmy Mod, Man About Towne (ModJ), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 03:30 (nineteen years ago) link

sorry oops, $10 sez its on the soundtrack tho.

hstencil (hstencil), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 03:31 (nineteen years ago) link

when are we going to have games that advocate more responsible, socially beneficial activities, like KidRaiser or Path of the Philanthropist?

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 04:26 (nineteen years ago) link

I just gave myself a flashback of playing some lame Xian video game.

oops (Oops), Wednesday, 18 August 2004 04:26 (nineteen years ago) link

San Andreas website is now live here. There's a movie up but still no info on the details of the soundtrack.

57 7th (calstars), Saturday, 21 August 2004 02:23 (nineteen years ago) link

Adam, what's your beef with the homie shit?

You know there's gonna be a nineties indie/alternative cd and it will be awesome! SCHOOL SHOOTING TO PEARL JAM'S 'JEREMY'!

Michael Stuchbery (Mikey Bidness), Saturday, 21 August 2004 05:48 (nineteen years ago) link

The only tracks on the soundtrack that can be confirmed, from what I read, are "Gin N Juice," "Let Me Ride," and "Nothin' But A 'G' Thang," all of which were licensed from Death Row.

antexit (antexit), Saturday, 21 August 2004 11:27 (nineteen years ago) link

OK, that trailer is the coolest thing I've ever seen. What's with that blue sheen over it, though?

antexit (antexit), Saturday, 21 August 2004 11:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Do you s'pouse there will be east coast/west coast hip hop stations?

Jimmy Mod, Man About Towne (ModJ), Saturday, 21 August 2004 14:41 (nineteen years ago) link

It gets funnier: IMPORTED MADCHESTER!

alfalfa romeo (natepatrin), Friday, 17 September 2004 02:14 (nineteen years ago) link

Should I pre-order it? Even though i am poor again? When is it actually out?

Little Lord Travolta (nordicskilla), Thursday, 30 September 2004 22:02 (nineteen years ago) link

29 October, for the UK anyway

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 30 September 2004 22:33 (nineteen years ago) link

10/25 us

why do old people and old users of ILX such bastardos (deangulberry), Thursday, 30 September 2004 22:35 (nineteen years ago) link

The trailer for it. Gives me an erection.

If I can get into my ride and put on "Fuck Tha Police" I will die. It also appears the Eazy E makes a guest appearance.

Velveteen Bingo (Chris V), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 12:00 (nineteen years ago) link

blimey.

BLIMEY!!!!!

CarsmileSteve (CarsmileSteve), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 12:31 (nineteen years ago) link

That looks fun. Madchen, can I come over to your house to play it and drink red wine?

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 12:32 (nineteen years ago) link

i bought a mag yesterday which had a dvd on with the trailer, how excited i was because i dont have broadband to view the trailer on line. upon getting home realising that some WANKER had stolen the dvd from the packaging cunningly through ripping the bottom and the me not realising because there was also some crap booklet in there which i thought was the DVD.

i hate everybody

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 13:40 (nineteen years ago) link

Just imagine a slicker looking GTA in which the black people aren't just cannon fodder.

Markelby (Mark C), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:08 (nineteen years ago) link

Sounds a bit dull.

adam. (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 16:10 (nineteen years ago) link

In the fullpage press ad for GTA it looks like Eazy and Dre in front of a '64 Chevy Impala.

gygax! (gygax!), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 17:35 (nineteen years ago) link

Sounds a bit dull.
Wha???

57 7th (calstars), Wednesday, 13 October 2004 20:07 (nineteen years ago) link

the opening shots in the trailer are badass. perfect song, too.

i wonder how many discs the soundtrack will have.

Sir Kingfish Beavis D'Azzmonch (Kingfish), Thursday, 14 October 2004 06:45 (nineteen years ago) link

I had a dream i was playing the new GTA game and I was really disapointed, all the graphics were like the Simpsons Hit & Run game.

Finally got to see the trailer last night, even if it meant I had to constantly click and drag my Media player window around the screen to get it to work. Looks good even though I hate Guns n Roses.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 14 October 2004 08:08 (nineteen years ago) link

I rather like the "It's not L.A.. Really." thing.

Jimmy Mod, Los Sexx Yanqui (ModJ), Thursday, 14 October 2004 10:03 (nineteen years ago) link

nanananannannananna knees! knees!

the trailer wasn't that amazing was it? (it looked just like all the other GTA3s)

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 14 October 2004 10:05 (nineteen years ago) link

With more explosions. More murder.

Jimmy Mod, Los Sexx Yanqui (ModJ), Thursday, 14 October 2004 10:07 (nineteen years ago) link

more murder than like 5,000?

ken c (ken c), Thursday, 14 October 2004 10:07 (nineteen years ago) link

I read a hopefully reliable article yesterday in a ps2 mag about what to expect in the game. It sounds a huge step up from the previous games but agreed the trailer doesn't show this up too well, just the standard driving flying shooting clips, with different scenery.

Still wetting my pants though.

Ste (Fuzzy), Thursday, 14 October 2004 10:18 (nineteen years ago) link

"huge step up from previous games" = disaster in general though (although GTA3 is the obvious exception). The stuff about how you have to spend time exercising or you'll get fat and slow down, and about how you have to keep managing things in your hood or you'll lose control over it sounds like the worst elements of The Sims & SimCity stuck together.

Andrew Farrell (afarrell), Thursday, 14 October 2004 10:29 (nineteen years ago) link

BUT WITH GUNS!!!
