is it possible she does this to cultivate her sources? it seems so insanely risky. but from her articles it is clear that lots of people, especially the sloppier ones around trump, are very happy to talk to her all the time.

treeship., Monday, 23 September 2024 01:31 (one year ago)

i know this is what lagoon suggested above. i am trying to think it out. perhaps it would be worse for these people to reveal that she does this?

maybe shes never gone so far as to send nudes before but how chummy she is with her sources is one of the things that made so many people skeptical of her, theres also been other unprofessional impulsive seeming behavior

lag∞n, Monday, 23 September 2024 01:36 (one year ago)

I remember she had all these funny nuggets from Giuliani in 2020-21, he would text her insane shit. I guess she's kind of a crazy-old-man whisperer. But sometimes the whisperer falls in love ...

Blitz Primary (tipsy mothra), Monday, 23 September 2024 01:37 (one year ago)

yeah i was specifically thinking of giuliani's drunk texts that she published. and then he would keep texting her!

who amongst us has NOT received Nuzzi nudes

I? not I! He! He! HIM! (akm), Monday, 23 September 2024 01:48 (one year ago)

A Nuzzi is going to be a new Sniglet meaning when a young blonde woman bombards an elderly man with demure nudes.

There’s a Monster in my Vance (President Keyes), Monday, 23 September 2024 01:58 (one year ago)

Sniglets? Even recognizing that term makes us the elderly.

Ned Raggett, Monday, 23 September 2024 02:26 (one year ago)

MOre like Not Necessarily the Nuzzi, amirite.

pplains, Monday, 23 September 2024 02:54 (one year ago)

i'm old enough to remember the pitkinville farm report which i believe predates the sniglet. the rich man's lake wobegone.

I guess I don’t follow media news very carefully. Could someone explain what Nuzzi’s significance was prior to this RFK thing? Was she a big name in journalism?

Damn polls - Nate Cohn in NY Times has Orange Man ahead in Arizona , Georgia, North Carolina with no explanation from him; but also noted still many undecided there

https://www.nytimes.com/2024/09/23/us/politics/times-siena-polls-arizona-georgia-north-carolina.html

the talented mr pimply (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 23 September 2024 13:54 (one year ago)

Arizona, Georgia and North Carolina are on the roster of seven battleground states where the focus of both the Trump and Harris campaigns has been since Labor Day. Ms. Harris has shown relative strength in several key states across the Midwest and, most critically to her hopes of becoming president, Pennsylvania.

But Arizona, which Mr. Biden won by just over 10,400 votes in 2020, now presents a challenge for the Harris campaign. Mr. Trump is ahead, 50 percent to 45 percent, the poll found. A Times/Siena poll there in August found Ms. Harris leading by five percentage points. Latino voters, in particular, appear to have moved away from Ms. Harris, though a significant number — 10 percent — said they were now undecided. And Mr. Trump is benefiting from ticket splitting there: While Ms. Harris is trailing, the poll shows that the Democratic candidate for Senate is ahead.

In North Carolina, which Mr. Trump won by under 75,000 votes in 2020, the former president has a slim lead over Ms. Harris, drawing 49 percent of the vote compared with 47 percent for Ms. Harris. (The poll was mostly conducted before reports that Mark Robinson, the Republican candidate for governor there, had made disturbing posts in a pornography forum, which some Republicans fear could hurt Mr. Trump in the state.)

the talented mr pimply (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 23 September 2024 13:54 (one year ago)

wtf arizona

I? not I! He! He! HIM! (akm), Monday, 23 September 2024 13:57 (one year ago)

Those NYT/Siena polls have always been outliers right? The one a few weeks ago had Trump up nationally by 1, whereas nearly every other national poll had Harris by 3-6. Wonder what they’re doing different.

frogbs, Monday, 23 September 2024 13:57 (one year ago)

They are the poll counting the people who yell "Trump" and hang up.

There’s a Monster in my Vance (President Keyes), Monday, 23 September 2024 14:01 (one year ago)

I did some canvassing in Michigan last week and I can confirm that Trump supporters just shouting "Trump!" at anyone who asks them about the election is a real thing. They don't want to answer questions or have a discussion, it just lets them say "fuck you" without having to say "fuck you" and I think that that represents a lot of his supporters who are going to vote based on that sentiment alone.

BrianB, Monday, 23 September 2024 14:43 (one year ago)

I think those polls are worth taking seriously

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 23 September 2024 14:49 (one year ago)

Trump has not gained 10 points since the debate in Arizona

a (waterface), Monday, 23 September 2024 14:52 (one year ago)

Not to mention a 22 point swing amongst women

It’s very hard coming up with a methodology that explains their 2 AZ polls (H+5 to T+5), their recalled 2020 vote went from Biden +7 to Trump +4 and the entire polling difference was from women going from Harris+26 to +4.

Neither result makes sense on its own.

Also hard to reconcile that result with this one

MassINC has Harris up in Wisconsin in a new poll.

53-46% 2 way preference

it's an outlier from what's generally agreed to be the most successful and methodologically transparent pollster in the country (other than a couple that only poll in specific states). it's worth taking seriously. their own article discusses the possibility it's an outlier.

Heartbreaking: The Worst Person You Know Just Made A Great Point dot jpg

One case where the world's most annoying media critics Actually Have A Good Point for Once is that the handling of Trump hacked documents is extremely inconsistent with the handling of the Clinton hacked documents in 2016.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 23 September 2024 15:20 (one year ago)

(xp about the NYT poll) I know you guys love to hate Nate Silver but please at least give him this, he has spent more than a decade trying to hammer home to people the fact that the more polls you take, the wider the spread of outcomes you're gonna see, just stick it in the average and get on with your life

Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 23 September 2024 15:22 (one year ago)

dont know who hes talking about but those most annoying critics are prob people who call him on his shit and are often right no xp

lag∞n, Monday, 23 September 2024 15:31 (one year ago)

yep.

but it's worth repeating that the media is voluntarily sitting on a trove of internal comms from the trump campaign.

(they're also failing to follow up on the $10m egyptian bribe thing.)

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Monday, 23 September 2024 15:31 (one year ago)

octobeard, Monday, 23 September 2024 15:37 (one year ago)

I take the Siena polls seriously methodologically, but I also think it's silly to think there's been a 10-point shift in Arizona in a month. So, one of their two Arizona polls is wrong, or they both are, but they're not both right.
