Prediction for the debate is that Vance will be a total dickhead because that is the only mode he has, and Walz will be a forceful-but-friendly dude. It will be ruled a draw, the Trumpy types will think Vance kicked his ass by taunting him about lying about his military service and so forth, other people will think that Vance is an asshole.

A new survey finds voters see Vice President Harris and former President Trump as roughly equal on the question of who would best support the economy.

Harris earns 41 percent support compared to Trump’s 43 percent, the data shows, according to the latest poll conducted by The Associated Press/NORC Center for Public Affairs Research.

About 1 in 10 voters said they either trust the two presidential nominees equally or don’t trust either candidate.

The former president has sought to link Harris to President Biden’s unpopular record on inflation and his “Bidenomics” agenda.

starting at 1:11 on this is the most impassioned i've heard her yet on abortion. i don't think i've EVER heard an american politican on the national stage speak like this about abortion and women's health. the whole speech is good and definitely has more that she has not repeated a lot elsewhere. the "and these hypocrites...!" and "well, WHERE you been!?" gave me chills and made me tear up for real. i hope that part gets played everywhere forever.

Well, David Brooks will be very disappointed by that Harris speech. He was on PBS tonight talking about how she needs to move on from the whole abortion thing. This is a direct quote:

"The abortion issue is obviously a great issue for Democrats, but I think the Harris campaign is spending too much time talking about it. They should talk about the economy, the economy, the economy. And so I think tying everything to abortion rights is probably something they've done enough, and should pivot."

It's a great issue for them, but it would be better if they focused on something that will get them fewer rather than more votes.
