While that support for the bipartisan deal may help Harris win, it hasn't help dispense any hatred of immigrants

curmudgeon, Sunday, 15 September 2024 16:27 (one year ago)

hannibal lector coming over the border, haitians eating cats and dogs, joe and kamala encouraging it because of marxist social engineering. that is the case they are making.

― treeship.

The year is 2666

Heez, Sunday, 15 September 2024 16:30 (one year ago)

I am starting to think that this is not actually going to be a close election. Either Trump or Harris (and I definitely think it's gonna be Harris) is going to win by a large and incontestable margin.

I don't think there's a chance in hell Trump wins by a large margin, he lost the popular vote twice and there's not a single data point suggesting he can do it this time. obviously a 2016 situation where he gets like 46% but gets just over the hump in certain key states is plausible but a Trump blowout would suggest the country has gone absolutely insane in a way that just isn't reflected by any of the other elections that have happened in the last 4 years

on the other hand Kamala just running away with it does seem like it might be in the cards, Trump is running one of the worst campaigns in history and keeps kicking hornets nests for no reason, I'm not gonna hold my breath but then again I thought the debate would be a wash and it very much was not

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2024 16:31 (one year ago)

The menthols thing is a long standing wedge issue and not particularly a sign of desperation

― 𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, September 15, 2024 11:24 AM (seven minutes ago) bookmarkflaglink

making it the focus of your mailers seems pretty desperate though

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2024 16:32 (one year ago)

I received menthol mailers *from democrats* when I lived in south LA (ie a historically black zip code).

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 15 September 2024 16:34 (one year ago)

the debate made me more confident in kamala's victory. she was obviously very prepared and knew exactly what to say to provoke trump's worst instincts.

I agree, but my worst-case scenario is that we (ILX posters and those who think like us) are radically wrong about how the rest of America sees things and Trump finally comes completely over the top and seizes power precisely because the country is dying/falling apart.

The scenario I think is more likely is that Harris wins with Obama vs McCain numbers (~53-47), and a lot of that is gonna be driven by female voters and young voters, to a degree that the political media is gonna have a real hard time grappling with because it will go against every belief they have held dear since the '80s (young people don't vote, abortion is not that big a deal, the most important voters in America are white male factory workers).

"If I have to create stories so that the American media actually pays attention to the suffering of the American people then that's what I'm going to do”

if anybody still feels bad about the couch fucking story..

scanner darkly, Sunday, 15 September 2024 16:55 (one year ago)

If that was a possibility we’d see it in recent election results, instead it’s the Dems who have been over performing virtually every time

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2024 16:55 (one year ago)

Increasingly, I feel it will be a blowout for Harris.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 17:26 (one year ago)

why do you have to say that out loud? you better knock three times on your wooden noggin if you say something like that out loud.

scott seward, Sunday, 15 September 2024 17:33 (one year ago)

xp i hope so. i'm still waiting for any kind of shift in the PA poll numbers.

c u (crüt), Sunday, 15 September 2024 17:33 (one year ago)

his base isn't big enough to win the election though the reason why he won in 2016 is because independants and swing voters broke hard for him

― frogbs, Sunday, September 15, 2024 12:01 PM (one hour ago) bookmarkflaglink

he was seen as moderate and common sense by a lot of people that cycle, and not without reason, he ran to the left of the dems on some issues and to the left of the gop on many, got to think thats all thats out the window this time, pretty crazy to reflect on whats happened since then

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 September 2024 17:48 (one year ago)

everything Trump is doing is just playing to the same racist lunatics while managing to piss off new groups of people, like how motivated do you think both Haitians and Swifties are gonna be now to vote against this guy

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2024 17:48 (one year ago)

i'm still waiting for any kind of shift in the PA poll numbers.

I wonder how "I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT!" will play in her home state?

Instead of create and send out, it pull back and consume (unperson), Sunday, 15 September 2024 17:49 (one year ago)

I suspect the Harris/Walz team had this ready to go:

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 17:56 (one year ago)

he's going after the New York Times for some reason too, wonder if something's about to drop in the next couple days that he was asked for comment on

could be related to Swift but who knows this Loomer story is so strange it feels like there's something there

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:00 (one year ago)

if loomer and him really are doing it you gotta think someones going to get the story before long

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:02 (one year ago)

idk if there's truth to the story that Loomer is now banned from Trump's plane but if so that would be pretty strange, presumably it would be because she's a complete psycho but Trump's surrounded himself with nothing but freaks and losers recently

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:16 (one year ago)

I guess serving dishes laden with KFC are no longer fit company.

the talented mr pimply (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:17 (one year ago)

i clicked around twitter trying to figure it out and afaict the banned from plane story originated from milo yiannopoulos fwiw

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:19 (one year ago)

The random capitalization in that Harris statement is making me IA. Maybe I won't vote for them after all.

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:21 (one year ago)

You terrible person

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:23 (one year ago)

so random

Clay, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:25 (one year ago)

Yiannopoulous must be incredibly bitter that all the con artists he came up with have been so much more successful (except for Richard Spencer)

papal hotwife (milo z), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:30 (one year ago)

The one that puzzled me most was "where all Americans Breathe easy knowing..."???

But compared to Trump's tweets during office and on Truth Social it was a model of sane spelling, punctuation and capitalization.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:31 (one year ago)

They're Taylor Swift song titles ffs

The king of the demo (bernard snowy), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:32 (one year ago)

This the kind of thing us older folks might not pick up on

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:32 (one year ago)

They're Taylor Swift song titles ffs

Which raises the question, is a meme a meme if it falls in a forest of geezers whose hearing aid batteries have all died?

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:37 (one year ago)

Guess he felt he needed more sympathy again?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:37 (one year ago)

we'll soon see if the national reaction is stifling a yawn and hitting the 'Mute' button

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:41 (one year ago)

lol I just remembered there's a VP debate too

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:42 (one year ago)

Most of the immediate response to this shooting news seems to be "Well they finally took care of Vance."

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:43 (one year ago)

Those Swifties sure act fast...

Charlie Hair (C. Grisso/McCain), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:43 (one year ago)

lol damnit you beat me by 3 seconds

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:43 (one year ago)

Per NY Post:

“Two people exchanged gunfire outside of Trump International Golf Course West Palm Beach. The shooters were targeting each other, and the gunfire was not targeting Trump, the sources said.”

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:46 (one year ago)

I assume this happens on the regular.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:46 (one year ago)

It is Florida after all.

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:47 (one year ago)

wonder what Trump voters think of the fact that he's out there golfing while his campaign is in a complete tailspin

frogbs, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:47 (one year ago)

It shows he is being a man.

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:48 (one year ago)

That's how the magic happens.

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:48 (one year ago)

Loomer and Taylor Greene perhaps

nashwan, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:48 (one year ago)

what tailspin? their serene confidence in the Trump's genius and the power of Almighty God would not permit them to question his eventual victory over Satan and his worldly servants

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:51 (one year ago)

apparently that golf course abuts a warehouse district thats notorious for scam business

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 September 2024 18:59 (one year ago)

Trump owned?

O 'Tis Redding (Boring, Maryland), Sunday, 15 September 2024 19:00 (one year ago)

The warehouses I mean. We all know he’s not owned!

O 'Tis Redding (Boring, Maryland), Sunday, 15 September 2024 19:01 (one year ago)

theyre not owned by him afaic, heres the video i watched about it, sorry if the guy is annoying its not my fault

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Te4_sWIMy4

lag∞n, Sunday, 15 September 2024 19:11 (one year ago)

And now it's this?

The NY Post article was apparently changed to the following:

"Initial reports suggested two people were firing at each other. However, sources said investigators now believe the Secret Service agent was the only shooter."

Shooting at...who?

Ned Raggett, Sunday, 15 September 2024 19:22 (one year ago)

A cat, it was lunchtime.

pisspoor bung probe prog (Tom D.), Sunday, 15 September 2024 19:24 (one year ago)
