Seems likely that the 'instant' national polls won't budge very much and the swing states will remain close, even with Harris's vanquishing him with style and panache. But the importance is that last election Biden barely squeaked out the five most important swing states in spite of beating Trump by 8,000,000 votes. Anything that's bad for Trump and good for Harris with the handful of uncommitted voters in those states is of lopsided importance.

can't see how that debate performance could help Trump or not help Harris... dunno how much, but we're two months out now and nobody can afford to lose an inch of ground. with Biden, Trump's campaign team were coasting and could proceed slowly and carefully. now they are scrambling and Harris winning this debate will likely keep them wrong-footed

the most lmao thing is that the vast majority of people who watched the debate aren't really plugged into this like we are, Trump saying "they're coming to eat your dogs and cats" must sound totally insane to people who didn't know that was a story

i thought she did as good as you possibly could against someone so obviously fucking demented. she kept her cool. she gave him a ton of shots. putin is going to eat his lunch? that was amazing. he landed nothing. it was all old man anger. flailing. it was beautiful to see. he was sweating. his nose was running.

I disagree with this. For every undecided voter offended by Harris’ expressions I’m guessing you could find two saying “Yes! I make that face when Trump speaks too!”

just to be clear, i think harris enduring with actual emotion through the maniacally hilarious onslaught of bullshit in the ways that she did was totally boss and how he should have been handled all along. her facial responses seemed natural and appropriate throughout.

she had her talking points and hammered on them. the moderation was handled the way a heated political debate should be, but only in this convoluted scenario can i simultaneously say that they were definitely giving harris more leniency on fact-checking her claims (but then again, her claims were... uhh, normal things that happened or are going to happen because trimp is shitheap).

i did like that she ended by saying how all these jokers do is scream and complain and accuse and then... over to you former president and he uses his last chance to talk to do exactly that! i'm voting for harris because she can see the future! or read minds! whatever.

final thought: all debates are good debates because either the guy you like will do or say something you like and/or the guy you don't like will do or say something really foolish and possibly get given the what-for in real time by the guy you do like (that's like the political debate alley oop when that happens, definitely the most fun play for spectators!).
