It's even weirder and worse than that, there was a report of a woman eating a cat in front of her neighbors, but it was in Canton, Ohio, not Springfield. And she wasn't an immigrant, she was a Black woman with obvious serious mental issues. There's a video of her arrest being circulated, saying she's Haitian. Somehow that video got looped in with the stuff racists have been saying at Springfield council meetings about people supposedly eating ducks and geese. Meanwhile, the actual reason all the Haitians are in Springfield is that they were brought there to work at local factories, which couldn't get enough workers.

The whole thing is so deeply fucked up and also so deeply representative of where the GOP and this country are at right now.

There was also a photo posted on Reddit showing a Black guy (no evidence that he was Haitian) carrying a dead goose in Columbus (not Springfield) that got folded into the conspiracy (even though the person who took the photo was not politically motivated and is now upset that the post was hijacked).

And the whole Republican Party is now promoting it like it’s a real actual thing, and/or a hilarious joke ha ha ha.
