I guess like the last couple of elections the polls can't tell us much other than it's very close, and the outcome will depend upon enthusiasm, ground game and follow-through. It probably helps that the GOP nominee is vacuuming up all the money for himself.

The best outcome is maybe he does a Baltar on election day and flees the country for somewhere without an extradition treaty before losing at the polls

lots of places dont have extradition treaties but that doesnt mean they wont send someone back if a country asks, like if tajikistan calls cambodia and is all hey we believe our most prolific serial killer is living in your country can you pick him up for us theyll prob do it regardless if they have a formal agreement in place, conversely if the crime is tax fraud theyre likely to ignore it, spanish prisoner great movie btw

That is quite an imbalance in MI and WI. NC too--Trump's ahead there, but by less than a point.

If Trump can flip PA and GA and the 2020 map otherwise stays the same, then that's the ballgame (though at this point I'd probably try harder to hold NC).

Furthermore, we're talking about close elections. In 2020, Biden won PA by 1.17% and GA by 0.23%. It's not crazy to think that a couple of thousand voters could move in the other direction for whatever reason.

I don't know if I'd place any bets about either candidate getting more votes than 2020 given that it had 25-30 million more votes than the previous three elections.

despite what the polls are saying I'd be pretty shocked if Harris doesn't win, she's a much better candidate than Hillary or Biden was, while Trump is somehow even worse. I don't know how Trump is going to win over that last 1-3% he needs. hard to see how the "everything's going to hell if Kamala wins" attack is gonna stick given she's been the VP for 4 years. ditto for the "I will fix everything and make everybody rich" thing, not sure if people are gonna buy that given he was already president for 4 years
