yeah, I'm wondering which threads these are, but maybe I don't want to know

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 18:03 (one year ago)

ILTMI?

Piggy Lepton (La Lechera), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 18:19 (one year ago)

the one board i keep unticked from my SNA list

Yuwen Hu's army (Noodle Vague), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 18:31 (one year ago)

i made a poop joke on the politics thread! was probably me.

it was a call-back to the major oppo dump era though

z_tbd, Tuesday, 3 September 2024 18:48 (one year ago)

"the politics thread"

because there's only one, lol at self

z_tbd, Tuesday, 3 September 2024 18:49 (one year ago)

I have no idea what in orbit's talking about

the talented mr pimply (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 18:49 (one year ago)

I've probably made some off color references to Trump along those lines, but I don't remember when

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 18:54 (one year ago)

xps to io, if you use the zing app you can mute thread titles. Useful for hiding anything you don’t want to see in sna. I haven’t seen the posts you mention though, probably cos I mute on sight?

Romy Gonzalez’s utility infusion (gyac), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 18:58 (one year ago)

Tx but I rarely, if ever, use Zing bc typing on a phone is too difficult. And sorry to vaguebook but I didn't want to post specific things bc it seemed unnecessarily pointed/mean. I just wanted to share that as a member who also likes to read & post & be part of things, that is off-putting to me and I never see any pushback (possibly because not contributing to a thread is invisible).

Ima Gardener (in orbit), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 19:40 (one year ago)

Yeah I hear you

Romy Gonzalez’s utility infusion (gyac), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 19:42 (one year ago)

Poop jokes and butts and fecal imagery make this board virtually unreadable to me. That's mostly why I haven't been around for months. I see a thread title and think it looks intresting but often find it's screen after screen of people going out of their way to make poop references to unrelated topics.

In the sense that any group is a composite of its members, if that's what people like, then that's what it will be. I guess I'm just saying this here because if no one ever expresses a different perspective, there's no counterweight.

― Ima Gardener (in orbit)

i don't really browse here a lot, i know there's one thread in ILTMI for the topic and I do contribute to that, but I do so entirely seriously, because it's a serious problem I have. (For those of you concerned about my health, I had a relatively high-functioning day yesterday and am trying again to schedule a colonoscopy. Hopefully it turns out OK.)

Kate (rushomancy), Tuesday, 3 September 2024 21:04 (one year ago)

every time i see this thread title i assume it's about some feeb stand-up with a hyped Edinburgh Fringe show

Yuwen Hu's army (Noodle Vague), Saturday, 7 September 2024 19:15 (one year ago)

i don't want to "yeah-but" anything anybody is talking about, that shit is real, patriarchy is real.

it's important for me to say that it's not just men who rape. it's important for me to say that because the person who sexually abused me is a woman. i still want to believe it didn't happen, she didn't do that. i only say it because that's what the facts say. i don't believe i was sexually assaulted and abused over a period of years by my ex-spouse. that's apparently what happened, that's all.

men can get away with it. that's what stands out to me. all of these men, all of these men didn't just _know_ but were _involved_. over fifty! over fifty, and nobody said or did anything. how many people knew? how many people had to have known?

usually it's men who do the hurting. usually it's women who get hurt. always it's the excuses, the minimization, the people who don't have to deal with it and can't _imagine_ it. that's the horrible thing. i was talking to a co-worker, a friend, about it today, about something horrible that happened, happened on a personal level, something that most people won't ever know about. it's not that stuff like that _happens_. it's that stuff like that is _normal_ in this world. if this world is hell - sometimes i think it is, sometimes i don't - but if this world is hell, _that's_ why.

re: "they're eating the dogs"

the worst part about the whole thing is that those immigrants were brought into the area to work in factories because they would accept lower wages. so now they're here fattening some asshole's portfolio and getting fucking adult bullied. ugh.

Trump? He was right about Americans liking free federal money.

the talented mr pimply (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Monday, 16 September 2024 22:13 (one year ago)

No, not Trump, unless he's on ILX.

"i can't believe r's are still rallying behind this catastrophe of a campaign!"

well i mean they're fascists. it wouldn't surprise me if there's some covert operation going to get him elected so they can overthrow him and do a proper treason. doesn't matter how you win as long as you win, right? dj's clearly out of it to the point of being manipulated around pretty easily and anyone involved with him in this capacity is probably a completely carelessly violent asshole, so i imagine once he gets into office, he gets taken out and then it's like that episode of futurama where they end up on that planet where the emperor gets assassinated every two weeks.

I think it's ok to think that this isn't as bad as bombing a hospital or something like that.

silverfish, Thursday, 19 September 2024 14:33 (one year ago)

It’s probably not great to introduce tampered electronics into a supply chain without any regard or care as to who is actually in possession of them at the time they were detonated. But we’ve already established lots of people, both on here and in general, don’t give a fuck about collateral damage when the people on the receiving end are adults, because let’s face it, as long as a percentage of them were terrorists then the unlucky people affected by their exploding solar panels or whatever should have known better than to be standing adjacent to/living with/in the same country as the targeted people.

Romy Gonzalez’s utility infusion (gyac), Thursday, 19 September 2024 14:50 (one year ago)

actually this thread says it a lot better.

“why do so many ‘health workers’ have Hezbollah Pagers?” because Hezbollah Pager isn’t a real thing. because that’s what happens supply chains are contaminated. just because the propaganda needs you to be very stupid to believe it doesn’t mean you’re obliged to become that stupid

lmao at the very IDEA of believing the story about the microtargeting of these devices, like we haven’t seen schools and homes and civilians destroyed at will in the hopes of finding needles in that haystack.

I wanted to make sure this list of prime numbers was a little more fun and quirky! ✨ So here’s how I approached it:

Gathering prime buddies: First, I picked the first 100 prime numbers—those are the special "prime buddies" we all know and love, starting with 2, 3, 5, 7... you get the idea! 🥳

Adding a prime sprinkle: To give each prime a cute little makeover, I sprinkled another prime number on top, like a cherry on a cupcake! 🍒 For the smaller primes, I gave them a tiny sprinkle (adding smaller primes like 3 or 5), and as the primes got bigger, they needed a bigger sprinkle (adding larger primes like 7, 11, or even 19)! 🌟

Making sure it's unique: I didn’t want to use the same sprinkle over and over, so I made sure each prime buddy got its very own special addition. No one wants a boring, repetitive list, right? 😉

In the end, we have a list of prime numbers with a little extra flair! Cute, quirky, and oh-so-primed up! 🎉

This signal head near Allithwaite, Cumbria, also reminds me of Emma Stone:
https://i.imgur.com/PrhHdzV.jpg

It's an unusually attractive signal head.

And by extension it reminds me of Ambassador Alpha Centauri from the Doctor Who story The Curse of Peladon. Apropos of nothing the BFI Southbank is showing an episode of Blakes Seven today, at 12:00. So there's still an hour to buy a ticket. It's "Seek - Locate - Destroy", with a Q&A from Jan Chappell and Sally Knyvette.

So, if you want to see Gareth Thomas projected from videotape onto a huge screen while surrounded by nerds, this is your chance.
