what institution am i meant to be riding for?

budo jeru, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:19 (one year ago)

^^^ and yes I agree with that, if she's gonna do media it should be with outlets willing to ask her more interesting questions rather than the centrist shit the MSM will give her. like you know the first question she'll get is "do you agree with Republicans who say you were installed in a coup?". one of the reasons the Walz pick has gone over so well is that he seems like a very normal person with normal interests, I think Kamala could benefit from that sort of coverage herself, especially in contrast to how they're portraying the Republicans (or more accurately, how they're portraying themselves) at this point

frogbs, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:20 (one year ago)

i'm fine with her waiting until after the convention and she is the legit candidate to do a big interview.

scott seward, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:21 (one year ago)

i can't believe i'm saying this............but i did like when vance was taking questions outside and he would only take questions from local wisconsin media before the national media. everyone should do that.

scott seward, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:22 (one year ago)

take questions from someone anyone (influencers dont count)

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:24 (one year ago)

Citizen Trump is giving a 'press conference from South Florida' this morning

call it 'quiet campaigning', you come to me

Andy the Grasshopper, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:27 (one year ago)

press conference from his bedroom. trump bed-in.

scott seward, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:29 (one year ago)

File me in the group that thinks there's no real need for an interview until after the convention.

More rallies, please!

octobeard, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:30 (one year ago)

I believe that is what is known as a front-porch campaign:

Andy the Grasshopper, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:30 (one year ago)

his ear still hurts

Should be the first question. "How's your ear? When will you release a medical report about the incident?" Alternately, "Hey, remember that time you got shot at? That was awesome."

- Rolling Stone

lmao

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:33 (one year ago)

Or: "Why doesn't anyone care about you getting shot anymore?"

There’s a Monster in my Vance (President Keyes), Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:33 (one year ago)

I don't think anyone reads the politics stuff in rolling stone except people in this thread when you copy and paste an entire article in to the "Add a post" box.

Who does politics for RS now?

Considering that they're more a website than a magazine at this point, they probably wouldn't keep publishing it if it wasn't getting eyeballs.

iirc they did get good scoop recently cant remember what it was tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:36 (one year ago)

I remember when we thought they were cool for publishing Taibbi articles

i'm sure the politics features numbers relative to the rest of the website but it's not like the other things on your list (which I agree with)

The thing is, an interview with Rolling Stone would get tons of mainstream press pickup and recirculation, because mainstream press reporters are old (or old at heart) and will give it a great deal of importance as though it's 1972.

Instead of create and send out, it pull back and consume (unperson), Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:40 (one year ago)

Gore Vidal should interview her for Playboy.

scott seward, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:41 (one year ago)

I wonder how many swifties are trumpy

cubing the gleam (Ye Mad Puffin), Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:44 (one year ago)

we gonna party like it's nineteen-seventy-two

Andy the Grasshopper, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:44 (one year ago)

It’s been a long time since I subscribed to RS but (and obv I’m a small sample size) by around the late 2000s/early 2010s, political and culture journalism was the draw. It’s probably the same for many of those still reading.

Marten Broadcloak, mild-mannered GOP congressman (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:44 (one year ago)

they paid more per word than anybody else for a long time, no idea how true that still is

naw, it's the Nickleback interviews

Andy the Grasshopper, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:46 (one year ago)

Wenner: What did you think of No Reason To Cry? I think it's underrated and I think Clapton would agree.

Harris: ....

scott seward, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:47 (one year ago)

if anyone was worried about (non)-response bias being the reason for Harris's strong polling performance, this kind of repeat poll of the same doesn't suffer from that to anything like the same extent, and is seeing the same swing.

that seems good, I honestly do not see how on earth Trump gets even close to winning the popular vote but I do fear a nightmarish 2016 like scenario where he wins by like 1000 votes in key states while losing overall big time

frogbs, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:57 (one year ago)

Outlets Harris should talk to ASAP, and no I'm not joking:

- Rolling Stone
- Teen Vogue
- Hot Ones (OK, send Walz to do this one)
- IG live on AOC's account

walz should go on rogan

flopson, Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:57 (one year ago)

Ooooo!

Marten Broadcloak, mild-mannered GOP congressman (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:59 (one year ago)

why

I painted my teeth (sleeve), Thursday, 8 August 2024 17:59 (one year ago)

a nightmarish 2016 like scenario where he wins by like 1000 votes in key states while losing overall big time

and this is why Republicans will never vote to reform our electoral system - the EC, voter suppression and gerrymandering is all they have anymore

Andy the Grasshopper, Thursday, 8 August 2024 18:00 (one year ago)

lol weak

I painted my teeth (sleeve), Thursday, 8 August 2024 18:02 (one year ago)

unassimilated german is at least novel, points for originality

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 18:03 (one year ago)

rogan gets 15m listeners who are unusually persuadable (they listen to rogan?!), and many of them are going to switch away from RFK to one of the other candidates over the next couple of months, and walz would get on with him for the same reason Bernie did. not a bad idea.

I talked them into buying a pair of Hokas I've got on, good stuff.

removing Columbus statues is a 'hate crime'? that's rich

Andy the Grasshopper, Thursday, 8 August 2024 18:08 (one year ago)

At Home with Vivek, I never miss that.

clemenza, Thursday, 8 August 2024 18:08 (one year ago)

i always love when my fellow Italians still get so butthurt over Columbus statues, like....the Innocent 11 lynching happened in the 19th century, Italians are white and privileged now now, and Columbus was a genocidal rapist whose statues were enacted to encourage Italian assimilation
