I thought Chasten and Emhoff went to Fire Island not Provincetown?

Tim F, Thursday, 8 August 2024 11:03 (one year ago)

Good morning!

the talented mr pimply (Alfred, Lord Sotosyn), Thursday, 8 August 2024 11:18 (one year ago)

I only recently discovered that guy’s name is not pronounced in he same way it’s said when its meaning is ‘admonish’.

Trump announcing a news conference for later today. That should go well!

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:13 (one year ago)

Heloooooooo, look at me! I'm barely alive!

Bad Bairns (Boring, Maryland), Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:15 (one year ago)

Stopped clock etc

“All Trump has to do is talk about his positions, like he did in 2016,” said Ann Coulter, the conservative commentator who broke with Mr. Trump some years back, largely because of his inability to focus on the issues she cared about. “But, no, he’s going to spend the first 20 minutes of every rally attacking the popular Republican governor of Georgia or trying out stupid nicknames for Kamala.”

Ms. Coulter added that “Republicans who expected Trump to run a smart, disciplined campaign are going to be sorely disappointed.”

Ned Raggett, Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:18 (one year ago)

Let me guess, he'll show up 90 minutes late, take two questions, call the questioners "nasty" and sulk off, thinking he is exiting the room but really walking into a closet where boxes of top secret documents fall over him.

Bad Bairns (Boring, Maryland), Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:18 (one year ago)

the cori bush thing is just really sad. she seems like a good person and for the guy who ran against her to have told her (recently!) that he wouldn’t do so and then turn around and do it…really detestable behavior. I guess there are worse things in the world, but being a person whose word means nothing is just…I guess that’s what politicians are all about

brony james (k3vin k.), Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:27 (one year ago)

Ann Coulter OTM?

Marten Broadcloak, mild-mannered GOP congressman (Raymond Cummings), Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:27 (one year ago)

The thing the article left out is that she said it admiringly, with a superior little smirk.

It was on a accident (hardcore dilettante), Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:30 (one year ago)

counterpoint trump won the presidency on insults not policy

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:31 (one year ago)

yeah people objectively hate his policies when the press can be bothered to explain them

Bad Bairns (Boring, Maryland), Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:34 (one year ago)

Positions to win the Electoral College but never the public vote, that's just smart.

nashwan, Thursday, 8 August 2024 13:37 (one year ago)

https://www.breitbart.com/economy/2024/08/07/breitbart-business-digest-democrat-economic-optimism-surges-republican-optimism-fades/

“Harris has inspired not just confidence in her supporters that she can get elected but also that her election will improve their household finances. Meanwhile, Trump supporters have lost confidence in their candidate’s prospects and their own financial prospects.”

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:13 (one year ago)

so what's Trump's presser today gonna be about? kicking Vance to the curb? new NFT series?

the absence of bikes (f. hazel), Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:28 (one year ago)

lemme guess: Tim Walz is Antifa, Kamala is Hamas

There’s a Monster in my Vance (President Keyes), Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:30 (one year ago)

is trump losing fucking Breitbart

I? not I! He! He! HIM! (akm), Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:30 (one year ago)

“Some people call it ‘antifascism’. We just call it being neighbourly!”

guillotine vogue (suzy), Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:31 (one year ago)

hes just not brining the heat like he used to so whats the point even

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:31 (one year ago)

Presser'll be about Kamala not having public pressers (though she meets with pools off the record).

bratwurst autumn (Eazy), Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:32 (one year ago)

some people call it punching nazis we just call it a good old fashioned ho down

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:32 (one year ago)

(xpost) That's the whole point, yes; they've been going on and on the last couple of days that she doesn't do interviews.

clemenza, Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:34 (one year ago)

she should talk to the press tho

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:35 (one year ago)

How else are you to make friends

There’s a Monster in my Vance (President Keyes), Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:36 (one year ago)

Maybe Harris can sneak in and ask a question, under the grounds she wanted to make sure they got a chance to debate.

clemenza, Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:39 (one year ago)

trump is not making an announcement. he's just trying to draw attention to Harris not taking questions, an issue that she will defuse by taking questions. masterful gambit.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 8 August 2024 14:41 (one year ago)

this attempt to swift boat walz seems like a huge mistake. bouie doing a good job explaining precisely why on bsky right now. will be interested to see if trump attempts to run with it this afternoon.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:03 (one year ago)

probably shouldn't be running at all with those heel spurs

There’s a Monster in my Vance (President Keyes), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:04 (one year ago)

Maybe ... this *is* happening?
50-42 Harris lead!?

Marquette is a great poll but the topline there in a two-person race is Harris +4 among registered voters. (And the same poll has a statistical tie in Wisconsin.) The 50-42 is the biggest Harris lead among all the possible versions, restricted to likely voters and with all candidates included; I doubt we're gonna get 8% third-party vote this time.

Guayaquil (eephus!), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:09 (one year ago)

LV polls are generally better than RV polls this close to an election, so it's not unreasonable to prefer the LV poll.

but yeah that poll is a big outlier (so far).

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:12 (one year ago)

rkf scoring so high is a good indication of low trump enthusiasm

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:13 (one year ago)

what strikes me is a) the RNC is over and done with, and therefore they already had their biggest shot at getting their message out. b) the DNC is still a couple weeks away. c) Harris is outspending Trump everywhere. d) Harris is high energy happy and showing up all over the country to enormous rallies, Trump is mostly sending out his "please clap" VP. e) Harris has strong proxies who will go to bat for her everywhere in crucial states, and no one seems to be really going to bat for Trump that much.

omar little, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:14 (one year ago)

betting markets have shifted to favoring Harris now, albeit slightly

if this site were a food it would have NO nutritional value!!!!!!! (Neanderthal), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:14 (one year ago)

I put my retirement savings on Harris when lag00n posted that she was going to win yesterday

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:15 (one year ago)

good call

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:16 (one year ago)

this is not a shitpost, I just got served a paid advertisement from the RFK campaign where he talks like he is dying of emphysema while covered in bugs pic.twitter.com/QEaIh0gaDJ

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:17 (one year ago)

honestly, I think I'm going to use my first vote as a citizen for rfk.

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:18 (one year ago)

bugs covering RFK are just getting to the restaurant half an hour before they open

omar little, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:19 (one year ago)

can't let the brainworms eat all the good parts

I painted my teeth (sleeve), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:20 (one year ago)

polls show rfk primarily pulling votes from trump with a small slice of dem voters in safe states supporting him based on the bugs and bears stuff

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:20 (one year ago)

well RFK has locked up the John Carpenter vote, he's serving Prince of Darkness like damn

the absence of bikes (f. hazel), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:20 (one year ago)

I always assumed a big chunk of the 3rd party vote was from people going "anyone but these two" when it was Biden and Trump, which is why recent polls have it decreasing as Harris's numbers go up. tbh I'm not sure how many of these voters Trump wins back, I mean he's gonna have to change something but he's just not capable

frogbs, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:21 (one year ago)

don't forget Trump is yet to be sentenced, feel like that's going to come at a bad time for him

frogbs, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:23 (one year ago)

feel like the AZ stuff might start to bubble up a bit more too.

omar little, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:26 (one year ago)

all the polling and just his politics seem pretty clear that rfk jr is attracting mostly conservatives, which is pretty funny as his whole campaign was prob intended to be a dem spoiler, they thought they could get by on his name alone

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:26 (one year ago)

nice touch "kathy johnson from the kellogg family" btw

lag∞n, Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:26 (one year ago)

I think right now he's pulling more from trump than Harris, but by November he will be pulling nothing from nobody (except me, I'm going to vote for him).

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Thursday, 8 August 2024 15:27 (one year ago)

gotta go with the guy covered in bugs every time
