yeah this was such a no-win...my 0.02 as someone who lives 7 blocks from the third precinct station that burned and was definitely living in the middle of it...i know the "called the national guard" will be a deal breaker for some progressives and i won't fault anymore. however, the alternative was continuing to let our shitheel mayor and the minneapolis PD continue to make an absolute mess of things, the genie wasn't going back in the bottle at that point...i think the guard was better trained, less violent and vindictive than how MPD was handling things...but yeah I don't know at that point. It was certainly a reaction to Jacob Frey having this late night TV briefing where he just appeared completely helpless and out of his depth, I think the guard was called hours after but my memory is kinda hazy, the whole thing was surreal and i was staying up all night on my porch smoking cigs with my phone
