Loving the chat, that's good engagement.
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 11:39 (one year ago)
idk what your problem is besides the fact that someone is challenging your apparently very closely held belief that its impossible to watch a sporting event and ascertain what happened in it
― lag∞n, Monday, 5 August 2024 11:42 (one year ago)
idk maybe tell michael johnson about it
― lag∞n, Monday, 5 August 2024 11:43 (one year ago)
Only way to settle this is a lag∞n v. xyzzzz FAP/sprint. Don't tense up.
― il lavoro mi rovina la giornata (PBKR), Monday, 5 August 2024 11:44 (one year ago)

― lag∞n, Monday, 5 August 2024 11:46 (one year ago)

― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 12:18 (one year ago)
Awesome Argies score with 90 seconds left
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 12:23 (one year ago)
Argies were awesome in the shoot out. Germans did not score any out of four attempts. 2-0
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 12:37 (one year ago)
japan men’s volleyball into the quarterfinals for the first time since 1976
― mookieproof, Friday, 2 August 2024 bookmarkflaglink
And they are beating Italy 2-1. Italy saved MPs to win that 3rd set tho'
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 12:48 (one year ago)

― scott seward, Monday, 5 August 2024 13:01 (one year ago)
Japan saved two SPs..24-24
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 13:14 (one year ago)
Italy get it at the 3rd. We go to a final set
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 13:15 (one year ago)
Biles is just nuts. so much power. Andrade still ahead though.
― scott seward, Monday, 5 August 2024 13:24 (one year ago)
I don't think you or I can sit here, look at a guy that lost by five thousands of a sec and make that judgment but ok xp that's where we are gonna disagree
― Roman Anthony gets on his horse (gyac), Monday, 5 August 2024 13:32 (one year ago)
Andrade won gold. she was great. Biles went out of bounds twice otherwise she might have taken it.
― scott seward, Monday, 5 August 2024 13:34 (one year ago)
chiles didn't win bronze...and then she did. intrigue!
― scott seward, Monday, 5 August 2024 13:37 (one year ago)

Badminton men's final, its the Danish defending Olympic champion vs Vitidsarn (Thailand) (current world champion) and I saw him beat the shit out of the Chinese player..
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 14:00 (one year ago)
And the Thai is being whooped here so far its highly one sided.
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 14:27 (one year ago)
Incredibly one sided but I enjoyed the artistry
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 14:49 (one year ago)
so a belgian triathlete fell sick from swimming in the seine because too many people shit in it? am i reading that right?
― 龜, Monday, 5 August 2024 15:14 (one year ago)
oui oui
― lag∞n, Monday, 5 August 2024 15:15 (one year ago)
the uk, and i guess france, has a big problem with sewage getting into rivers because of dodgy water companies. apparently it's a bigger problem when it rains a lot, which it has been in france as you've probably seen.
fun fact: the lead campaigner against said sewage problem in the uk is the ex lead singer on the undertones: https://x.com/Feargal_Sharkey
― koogs, Monday, 5 August 2024 15:33 (one year ago)
I imagine it's Paris that has the problem whereas it's pretty much everywhere in England.
― Defund Phil Collins (Tom D.), Monday, 5 August 2024 15:36 (one year ago)
swimming in a river in the middle of a big city just seems like a bad idea generally even if theres no poor sewage practices theres so much nasty stuff around yeah it rains things wash in there
― lag∞n, Monday, 5 August 2024 15:37 (one year ago)
... and I think, in this case, it is England rather than the UK?
― Defund Phil Collins (Tom D.), Monday, 5 August 2024 15:38 (one year ago)
I will remeber https://www.reddit.com/r/funny/comments/1ej47z9/the_french_pole_vaulter_anthony_ammirati_is/

our town beach/swimming area here - which is a beach next to a lovely gentle river branch - gets closed every summer for various lengths of time after storms because of the farms nearby. cows. what are you gonna moo?
― scott seward, Monday, 5 August 2024 16:12 (one year ago)
yeah agricultural run off is a menace tons of rivers near me that are no swims
― lag∞n, Monday, 5 August 2024 16:15 (one year ago)
Dutch better than us at the women's Hockey. Lucky to be 2-1 down with the last quarter left
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 16:39 (one year ago)
I think the Seine gets a bad rap - these swimming events wouldn't be happening in the Thames at all. The swimming sections for the triathlon events in 2012 had to be held in The Serpentine in Hyde Park.
― you gotta roll with the pączki to get to what's real (snoball), Monday, 5 August 2024 16:40 (one year ago)
Yes, 3-1. More please. Dump our girls out I want to see tears.
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 16:40 (one year ago)
They've got some DJs at the volleyball.
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 16:58 (one year ago)
excited for the pole vault final, this is the one where the guy with the smallest dick wins right?
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 5 August 2024 17:08 (one year ago)
That's right
― xyzzzz__, Monday, 5 August 2024 17:10 (one year ago)
Swimming in the Seine immediately struck me as a bad idea. In their defense, if I had to jump into an urban river (like to escape a boat that was about to explode), I guess I'd rather it be the Seine's waters than anywhere else. Remember when Chicago was trying to get an Olympics? Imagine the reaction if they said they were holding those events in the Chicago River.
Anyway, the comments in that reddit thread about the pole vaulting penis are a riot.
― birdistheword, Monday, 5 August 2024 17:20 (one year ago)
example: now if you play the video backwards, it looks like the dick is helping him climb over the bar
― birdistheword, Monday, 5 August 2024 17:25 (one year ago)
Imagine the reaction if they said they were holding those events in the Chicago River.
There would be a new reason why the Dave Matthews Band was so bad and hated
― Guayaquil (eephus!), Monday, 5 August 2024 17:33 (one year ago)
Men's pole vaulting is a damn treat, pretty clear who will win but it's a good crew out there. And the way the women's discus competitors entered was pretty great, everyone was happy and hyped to be there!
― Ned Raggett, Monday, 5 August 2024 19:08 (one year ago)
these triathletes should be micro dosing by not washing their hands for months before the race. sorry a huge river isn’t sparkly clean! people were eaten by dragons in the first olympics iirc
― brony james (k3vin k.), Monday, 5 August 2024 19:29 (one year ago)
So glad Brendan Foster wasn't in the commentary box to jinx Keely Hodgkinson, I thought Cram was about to though.
― Defund Phil Collins (Tom D.), Monday, 5 August 2024 19:55 (one year ago)
Sifan Hassan doing the 5k tonight, the 10k in a couple of days and the marathon on Sunday is just laughably nuts.
― oscar bravo, Monday, 5 August 2024 20:01 (one year ago)
Brazil came back from quite a few points behind to win the 2nd set against US in the men's volleyball. All very encouraging.
