LOL, if you take a walk down Holloway Road the last time it looked that white was sometime in the 17th century.

They are just not very good at this politics thing are they?
― Poets Win Prizes (Tom D.), Saturday, 1 June 2024 11:18 (two years ago)
Just as with Starmer's leadership vote, they are good at getting elected precisely once, and after that they have to deal with the consequences of their voters realising they lied about everything. One term will not be enough to loot everything they want to. They will do their best to game democracy in power just as they are doing now, but the above resistance among the core vote bodes well, imo.

Graham Stringer is a trustee of the 55 Tufton Street climate change deniers Global Warming Policy Foundation, a former Board Member of Vote Leave, and the *Labour* candidate for Blackley and Middleton South. https://t.co/RmrxpJE9Tk— Jo Maugham (@JolyonMaugham) June 1, 2024

It's not great, but the reason he's the candidate for Blackley and Middleton South is that he's been the MP for Blackley & Brougton since 2010. And for Manchester Blackley since 1997.

In 2009, Stringer denied the existence of dyslexia, calling it "a cruel fiction" invented by "the education establishment" to divert blame for illiteracy from "their eclectic and incomplete methods for instruction

I only joined to vote for Corbyn. Was horrified when I had the CLP on the phone asking me to attend stuff and even worse, a bent local councillor turning up on my door step offering to taxi me somewhere to vote for some local politics shite connected to a newbuild housing project or something .. god knows tbh. The idea of meeting ppl on the regular and getting drawn into this shit is genuinely horrifying to me.
― vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Saturday, 1 June 2024 19:07 (two years ago)

Police have arrived, and Luke Akehurst is now on his way elsewhere.Tensions extremely high here especially among protestore, local residents and some Labour Party members furious that Akehurst wouldn't answer any questions whatsoever or face scrutiny. pic.twitter.com/u6iX1wMjNJ— Gary Spedding (@GarySpedding) June 2, 2024

Durham had 3 local candidates ready to run for selection and are apparently furious that this hideous freakazoid was parachuted in. A very familiar story within Starmer Labour.
― vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Sunday, 2 June 2024 15:04 (two years ago)
In awe of the galaxy brain that decided the classy way out of this is to offer some left-wing MPs Labour peerages to smooth the way for whatever shit legislation Starmer tries to get through - before closing down the Lords!
― Andrew Farrell, Sunday, 2 June 2024 16:42 (two years ago)
after he's flooded the upper chamber of the living dead with enough Labour peers to wipe out the Tory majority, he probably won't be too arsed about abolishing it.
― vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Sunday, 2 June 2024 18:24 (two years ago)
also Mandelson has dismissed abolition and no doubt all the right-wing Labour grandees/scumbags/arseholes would agree and they are going to be still there, whereas Kieth will be lucky to be still leading the party in 18 months
― vodkaitamin effrtvescent (calzino), Sunday, 2 June 2024 18:43 (two years ago)
Labour peer and former cabinet minister Lord Mandelson has warned that, without agreement from other parties, Labour's plans risk dragging the party into a "quagmire", soaking up "acres of time and energy" that would be better spent on other priorities.
yeah, like sanctioning disabled people because they are not work capable and using MI5 agents as border force, starting a "investment vehicle" PFI energy carbuncle that will only benefit private sector behemoths. So many priorities.

so much going on. None of the Durham clp were allowed to ask him any questions, some of his gang of goons verbally abused ppl at a children's party that had been booked at the same venue months before. His wife racially abusing Asian people. Needing a police escort to get the fuck out of there. I think this is just day 1 of his campaign!
