He's tweaking on bootleg Sudafed and typing whatever shit comes into his head.

Thats not true, I haven't touched it since Tuesday

anvil, Friday, 24 May 2024 05:29 (two years ago)

Meaning the tweet regarding Gershkovich? Unless there's something more concrete than the tweet I don't know we can take that at face value or anything close to it

― anvil, Friday, May 24, 2024 12:06 AM (nine hours ago) bookmarkflaglink

thats what I'm wondering, if anyone's yet done any research into what he's saying here, idk it seems pretty bad. always so hard to tell with this guy but it's like 100% clear that if Russia wants something in exchange for help during the election Trump is more than happy to deliver, if anything he's more willing to do so given how little consequences he's faced so far

actually doing stuff while in office is another thing though, especially since the heat was on this particular connection before he even took office, and even Republicans weren't really going along with what he was saying just yet.

just saying for all the weird and bonkers shit he says on a daily basis his support for certain specific Russian political goals has always raised a few eyebrows

frogbs, Friday, 24 May 2024 14:19 (two years ago)

I think you're reading too much into it. I get it, when MTG started going on about TransCarpathia that didn't come out of nowhere, so its far from impossible it has some significance, but this is more likely to be nothing. I'm not sure he has any particular interest in freeing Gershkovich either

anvil, Friday, 24 May 2024 14:24 (two years ago)

again I don't think we ever got a satisfactory answer as to why Trump would take massive amounts of classified docs with him into his house and why he tried to hard to avoid giving them back, not saying it has anything to do with Russia, the most benign explanation is that he willingly compromised national security to make Biden's job harder, which is still the sort of thing that would land anyone else in prison for life

frogbs, Friday, 24 May 2024 14:41 (two years ago)

He's getting loudly booed at the Libertarian convention.

what must it take to end up in such a hell

well below the otm mendoza line (Hunt3r), Sunday, 26 May 2024 02:37 (two years ago)

Its pretty weird the the Libertarian party conference had the candidate for a different party than their own as a speaker. I read something weird about the Libertarians recently in I think Colorado, where they purposefully neutered themselves in some say when they got too close to beating a Republican. and that a lot of people have left over the last (3?) years, maybe more maybe less

I would think almost everybody would get booed at a libertarian convention, just seems like they kind of thing

wonder who thought this was a good idea, must be some internal data showing him losing a lot of support from crypto Republicans

They should book him for the Gathering of the Jugalos next.

This is Dance Anthems, have some respect (Camaraderie at Arms Length), Sunday, 26 May 2024 16:43 (two years ago)

Just the usual transactional stuff that is his whole approach with everything. “I hear you guys like x, y, and z. Support me and I’ll do x, y and z just for you, even though I’ve never given shit one about those things before.” What he didn’t realize is that Libertarians don’t like being told what to do, unless maybe it’s coming from a genuine Libertarian. They didn’t even want to support RFKJ, you’d think he would have done better than 2% of delegates in the first round of nominations.

xp also lol

libertarians are expert at building coalitions i think they got this

well below the otm mendoza line (Hunt3r), Monday, 27 May 2024 01:38 (two years ago)

Why Libertarians would want to support the party that actively takes away liberties as their job number one escapes me

epistantophus, Monday, 27 May 2024 02:17 (two years ago)

As long as it's other people's liberties it's cool.

Muad'Doob (Moodles), Monday, 27 May 2024 02:37 (two years ago)

Someone once said Libertarians are just Republicans who smoke pot

Are you addicted to struggling with your horse? (Boring, Maryland), Monday, 27 May 2024 03:19 (two years ago)

And now that pot's legal even in a bunch of red states, libertarians are just Republicans who are really, really, really interested in reforming age of consent laws.

A fair number of them have Ayn Rand brain worms and believe implicitly that laissez-faire capitalism is the zenith of human perfection and if only it were fully embraced humanity would attain dizzying heights and not incidentally, they would become the unfettered masters of this world. It's a sickness.

more difficult than I look (Aimless), Monday, 27 May 2024 03:26 (two years ago)

How much truth is there to the idea that there has been some kind of takeover or attempted takeover of the Libertarian party to bring them more explicitly under the umbrella of either Republican apparatus and/or Trump world? (thinking of CO and NH in particular but prresumably nationally). Heard there had been some kind of mini civil war over this and that membership has dropped a lot, but I'm not that au fait with subject matter and haven't looked into)

anvil, Monday, 27 May 2024 03:43 (two years ago)

again I don't think we ever got a satisfactory answer as to why Trump would take massive amounts of classified docs with him into his house

Because they are status symbols that he can use to impress people. Like thousands of pricks who have a picture of themselves with him on their wall.

and why he tried to hard to avoid giving them back

Because he does not like being told what to do, ever, under any circumstances.

probably a pure spite thing with the docs and other items too - people in his team seemed to be taking all kinds of items as 'souvenirs'

brimstead, Monday, 27 May 2024 14:09 (two years ago)

On June 19, 2023, Trump was interviewed by Bret Baier of Fox News. When Baier asked why he hadn't simply handed over his boxes, Trump said he worried they might contain "golf shirts, clothing, pants, shoes".

uh, he’s stupid vain, but i truly expect he thinks he can somehow profit off or use those docs. not necessarily in a “i have a devious genius plan” way, but in a “some assets have actual value, some ppl think i have a claim, i can persuade some people to believe they’re mine, fuck u they’re mine” way.

i even think not to understand this makes one naive, not cooly jaded or hip to trumps idiocy. i could be wrong, because the guy is really dumb, but he is usually motivated and it is often not mere vanity.

Besides the insane self-centeredness around making a Memorial Day message 100% about yourself and your own boo-hoo pity party for the problems YOU MADE FOR YOURSELF- besides all that- do you even say Happy Memorial Day?? It’s a fucking solemn holiday, not a happy one.

I still can't get over that the last witness for the defense was the shambling and out of control Costello and that Trump thought that he would be a very good witness, a masterstroke. Seeing the court getting cleared out and hearing that Merchan was informing him that he is in contempt and his testimony would be stricken from the record if he continued in the same the vein. Any hyper-impartial jurors (if there is such a thing) that are earnestly trying to follow the evidence and forget who the man is, he's been reminding them every day who he is. And that was the icing on the cake.

right but who exactly would classified docs have value to, especially the apparently top secret stuff he was stealing

i mean you're probably right, Trump's thought process has always tended to be even dumber than you'd assume, if he actually had some plan to betray America it probably would be revealed by now since he can't keep anything secret, then again he did seem to admit that he had some deal in place with Putin for this journalist or that he was trying to make one, idk all this shit is just weird

Iacocca Cola (Neanderthal), Monday, 27 May 2024 17:55 (two years ago)

Wasn’t one of his motives for holding onto docs that he wanted them as evidence against critics like Gen. Milley?
