It seems like my first ever post, under my government name, was on a thread about Meshuggah in December 2002. My first post as unperson was in August 2003, but then I abandoned that name until February 2007, and have been unperson ever since.

Instead of create and send out, it pull back and consume (unperson), Monday, 13 May 2024 20:04 (two years ago)

3,766 posts since May 2003....that's lurking, and sabbaticals.

3717 in ten years, but 3000 of them are probably in the last year, half of which would be baseball live posting and the other half defending something dumb I've said

Needs a small number of people, in the privacy of the voting booth, to hand the keys to the crazy abusive uncle instead of the doddering one.

Weren't a lot of Johnson's immediate difficulties animated by how much Robert hated him--before the assassination and then that much more intensely after? Would there be anything like that here?

― clemenza, Saturday, 6 July 2024 04:57 (two hours ago) bookmarkflaglink

you’d think Robert would have given up on those worldly grievances after his assassination.

My first thought was "wouldn't it be funny if NASA had an organisation for female rocket pioneers called Ladies Who Launch". But the BBC came up with that pun back in 2019, besides which it sounds naff:
https://www.sciencefocus.com/space/ladies-who-launch-the-women-behind-the-apollo-program

My second thought? "There should be a film called Shadout Mapes on a Plane. The trailer would have Samuel L Jackson saying 'I've had it with Shadout Mapes on this plane!'"

But I decided against fleshing out both of those concepts. Firstly because there's no-where to go. And the second idea raises far too many questions. Shouldn't it be Shadout Mapes on an Ornithopter? But that sounds clumsy. Does the Dune universe have conventional aerofoils? Do the people of Dune call airliners 'planes', or something else? How can you hide in an ornithopter? They're tiny.

And thirdly because I'm no good at spontaneous one-liners. I can't do shortform humour. God promised me that when Ronnie Corbett died, I would be his heir. I would have the world of lengthy, dull, sub-Alan Bennett comedy monologues all to myself.

But little did I know that it was not God to whom I sold my soul. It was not God. The trickster lied.

I'll bet other assassins are completely furious right now because their work is now 100x more complex because some dumb kid in PA completely fucked it for the entire profession.

[HINDSIGHT]and now we see aoc begin her first true power grab by securing the democratic vice presidential nomination, do what pansy pence couldn't by establishing proper world dominance in an act of consuming her superior on livestream (lol sry kamala thx 4 taking 1 4 the team tho!), and then indefinitely giving everyone the day off until they've gotten a chance to throw rotten tomatoes in the sweltering globally warmed heatwave at the members of the scotus. a true woman of the people, she unites the world and contacts god within 90 days of inauguration.[/HINDSIGHT]

Ashley Pomeroy, Monday, 22 July 2024 19:21 (one year ago)

i swear i'm not trying to do anything other than make a joke. fair warning: it's crass and totally insensitive to everyone. enjoy.

if dems really wanted to secure victory, they'd have let the cia assassinate biden and harris woulda won on sympathy alone. we americans love a good one-up and, oh you almost got assassinated? well our homie actually fucking did: check and mate, bitch. the only way for dj to counter that one-up is with another of his own; surely just a plot he's devising to fake his own death and then 'resurrect' right before election day. all hail trumpchrist!
