it's a shame the CPoGB are so so shit, it should be a boom membership period for them with all these angry young commies about. but none of the smart and angry ones would touch 'em with a bargepole it seems. I'm guessing they have always been bad, at least since they supported the Molotov/Ribbentrop carve up of Poland. I tried to join them one night when I was a bit drunk and their system took a £1 admin fee off me without sending a confirmation email to me. That's not going to bring down capitalism to its knees!

Times drops damning piece about Elphicke. Hate the Times, but genuinely hope this backfires horrifically on Labour. Repulsive.https://archive.is/KS5wtOn this meeting with the then Justice Secretary, Robert Buckland:
Immediately after entering Buckland’s room on the ministerial corridor, she turned to the topic of her husband: the man who, in a newspaper article three years earlier, she had described as a victim of “injustice heaped upon injustice” having been “thrown to the wolves”.To the shock of those present, Elphicke, 53, lobbied Buckland to interfere in the upcoming hearing of the case. She told him she felt it was unfair that his case was the first to be heard at Southwark crown court after lockdown and that was being overseen by Lady Justice Whipple, who, as presiding judge of the southeastern circuit, was one of the most senior judges in the land. Her comments were interpreted by one person in the room as an attempt to have the case moved to a lower-profile court to spare her husband public scrutiny. Another saw it as an effort to replace Whipple, who Elphicke apparently felt would be overly-strict. It is claimed that she spoke with an air of entitlement and as though Buckland should intervene to stop him being “singled out”.Buckland immediately objected, insisting the conversation could go no further, and declined to help. He feared it would be “outrageous” for him to interfere with the administration of justice by helping a fellow Conservative MP or her husband, also a former colleague. A key constitutional doctrine is that there should be a separation of powers between the principal institutions of state — including parliament and the judiciary.Charlie Elphicke was tried for sex offences at Southwark crown court in July 2020. His wife stood by him at the time. The MP for South Swindon said today: “She was told in no uncertain terms that it would have been completely inappropriate to speak to the judge about the trial at all.”A Labour Party spokesman said: “Natalie Elphicke totally rejects that characterisation of the meeting. If Robert Buckland had any genuine concerns about the meeting, then he should have raised them at the time, rather than making claims to the newspapers now Natalie has chosen to join the Labour Party.”

Conservatives were more talkative. A source close to Spencer said she had “thrown him under the bus” by initially claiming she would not discuss her husband’s case, only to do the opposite, before his trial. Another source said: “I remember her saying they gave him this judge because she’s a real hardass and she’s going to throw the book at him.”Of her subsequent efforts, the first source said: “I really didn’t think it was the role of the chief whip to sort out some convicted sex offender’s pillow in prison.”

Nandy always trots out “I’ll not be lectured by…[the left]” whenever someone to her left challenges her version of events. For once in her life I would like someone to say “actually this time you’re gonna have to sit there and take it, because everyone is sick and tired of watching you act like nobody to the left of you has a right to an opinion or deserves a vote. And were you not the person who was responsible for the plan to ‘break Corbyn as a man’?”

🔴 So, the final big Labour selection fix will unfold over next few days, as Starmer's henchmen Morgan McSweeney & Matt Faulding, helped by series of NEC panels (sub-committees) slot in who they want as MPs into the remaining 11 safe seats (& any others that arise).
@Tomorrow'sMPs@tomorrowsmps🔴 Let be more precise. Thelikely winners of the late selection process include FIVE NEC members who will become members -with no say from party members in those seats. Five. And maybe five peerages as well for the MPs they replace?
sweet sweet anti-deomcratic corruption

Kim Leadbeater made a lot of noise about her local roots and how Batley has a special place in her heart in the '21 B+S by-election that she just about squeaked a win in by about 90 votes. Now because she shit out on the ceasefire vote, she's quite cynically moved up the road in the boundary reshuffle, to somewhere where she doesn't have roots and there are less Muslim voters. Looking forward to see which hapless dummy candidate get's undemocratically selected by Kieth's goons for D+B. I think the boundary change has probably made it much more unwinnable seat.

the Times is reporting that Abbott will not be allowed to stand as a Labour candidate
An announcement of the party’s position could come as early as today. There are discussions among senior aides to Sir Keir Starmer about restoring her to the Labour whip before the election to allow her to leave politics “with dignity”.
restoring the whip for the two days (I think?) before parliament is dissolved just seems like adding insult to injury
