Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:29 (twenty years ago)

dear jesse, you too. go to hell that is, because i'm not much of a fan of chicken fried steak.

but i do like tv. i'm a bit worried about my tv watching because i was programming my vcr and discovered that i kinda want to buy something from the home shopping channel. is that the first step toward something truly sinister?

Juulia (julesbdules), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:34 (twenty years ago)

VCR. LOL.

DVR is $9 per month.

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:34 (twenty years ago)

i am a luddite.

Juulia (julesbdules), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:36 (twenty years ago)

I know and love Courtney, but hate all those people she's with, except her bro whom I think is pretty cute, even though I've never met him.

Courtney needs to move here, stat, or else she'll start to believe that's what the whole world looks like.

"What the experiment shows is that language and animal cognition is a lot more complicated than scientists once thought and that there is no "single magic bullet" that separates man from beast..."

Awesome. The more we know, the less special people are. That's great in my book -- we seriously need to be taken down a notch.

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:37 (twenty years ago)

You have 'ludes?!

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:37 (twenty years ago)

Which reminds me -- I left my awesome evolutionary psychology book at your place, Jules. I miss it.

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:38 (twenty years ago)

That's why Courtney has to be drunk ALL THE TIME. It's the only way she can live in Charlotte and not cry herself to sleep every night.

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:38 (twenty years ago)

well, i wouldn't be if i had the monies for awesome techno amazingstuff.

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:42 (twenty years ago)

Anyone attending the protest today? I saw lots of cops and other officials getting ready downtown while I was on the bus.

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:42 (twenty years ago)

I went to a little private theater open-bar thing one night at the back of John Barleycorn's, and when the open bar ended at 11 the room was swarmed with men in striped polo shirts and khakis - the same Charlottevillewear shown above. Gay bumblebee was de rigeur.

Eazy (Eazy), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:44 (twenty years ago)

I'm attending the godamn protest. I wish I could march in a wheelchair b/c I'm hung over and v. tired. from fucking butt all night.

I USE SCOTCHGUARD!!!!!!!

I just bought some a few days ago!

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:45 (twenty years ago)

do you know you can eat geraniums too? they're kinda bitter.

Juulia (julesbdules), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:51 (twenty years ago)

I thought Scotchguard was banned a few years ago, after they found out that it causes you to mutate but not in that cool X-Men way?

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:51 (twenty years ago)

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:53 (twenty years ago)

yeah, i was at a really fancy restaurant once and they used the flowers as a garnish and explained that they could be eaten, which i thought was kinda cool.

Juulia (julesbdules), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:53 (twenty years ago)

Watch out for the chives, in a year or two they'll have taken over that entire planter. I need to get on the job and buy/pot my herbs. LAZY---> ME

Laurel (Laurel), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:54 (twenty years ago)

Scotchguard
By Jesse Kehr

Scotchguard is a good product. I used to use Scotchguard on the cuffs of my work shirts when I worked at an Italian restaurant where the waiters ran a lot of food. It prevented red sauce stains.

In conclusion, Scotchguard.

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:54 (twenty years ago)

Your search - "killer chives" - did not match any documents.

Suggestions:

* Make sure all words are spelled correctly.
* Try different keywords.
* Try more general keywords.

Man, I'd forgotten what a babe Bailey was.

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 14:57 (twenty years ago)

My friend Tim aka Magnum O'Shea believes that you can tell a lot about a het man's personality based on whether he prefers Bailey Quarters or Jennifer from WKRP.

xpost: See?

I've never known a Loni man. We're all Bailey men, in these circles.

Eazy (Eazy), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:00 (twenty years ago)

Oh God yes.

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:01 (twenty years ago)

you just know bailey was a cyclone in the sack.

otto midnight (otto midnight), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:02 (twenty years ago)

Oh, the humanity! The turkeys are hitting the ground like sacks of wet cement! Not since the Hindenberg tragedy has there been anything like this!

Surely this is one of the best TV moments of all time.

Post your WKRP memories here.

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:02 (twenty years ago)

Where's Amanda?

I want to share my Great Purchase of '06 with her.

Well, not the purchase itself, but the experience.

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:03 (twenty years ago)

A company is advertising poppers on the station, there's presure for them to pull the ad but they don't want to lose the revenue, so they mess around with the tape speed so it sounds all weird, and it's a hit.

(btw, beautiful herbs, jesse)

Eazy (Eazy), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:04 (twenty years ago)

Fuck you, Eric.

Scottish Guard (unclejessjess), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:05 (twenty years ago)

Ok, fine. No WKRP. I can take a hint.

Remember that episode of M*A*S*H when they kept taking in Winchester's pants and letting them out again?

Man Man (kenan), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:07 (twenty years ago)

I'm too young to have watched WKRP. And my parents didn't believe in TV for most of my childhood.

xpost: ditto to MASH

Holy makkara, Toivo! (OutDatWay), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:07 (twenty years ago)

Post your WKRP memories here.

the one where mother carlson hires an outside consultant to tell her what's wrong the station and they totally pull the wool over the dudes eyes. specifically the alleged racial tension between venus and johnny fever. that scene always cracks me up.

i saw the barney miller where wojo's girlfriend bakes him hash brownies and he brings them to the station. fave scene:

barney: "Harris! I think there's something in these brownies, find out what it is."
harris: [pops brownie in his mouth] "I think it's hash barn..."

otto midnight (otto midnight), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:08 (twenty years ago)

I LOVE Barney Miller. Still. That's a great show. Even the theme song is awesome.

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:09 (twenty years ago)

My favorite was always the cynical smart dude with glasses, whose name I cannot remember.

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:10 (twenty years ago)

Now I'm going around the apartment singing "Four-Oh-Seven-Seveeen" to the tune of "Suicide is Painless"

Whispy Fandango Triphop (unclejessjess), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:10 (twenty years ago)

Steve Landesberg, don't know what his character's name was.

Jesse, I wish we had grown up without television. My apologies. The herbs are beautiful.

Eazy (Eazy), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:11 (twenty years ago)

I grew up with three channels, but Barney Miller was on broadcast TV. LUCKY ME!

Safety First (pullapartgirl), Monday, 1 May 2006 15:13 (twenty years ago)
