Laptop Sound - On or Off?

I feel seen in these replies (in a good way)

I was doing a test in the uni library a couple months ago. Some bloke is sitting in front of me, sound on, trying to do something his computer obviously won't allow him to do. You know the sound you get when there's a prompt on your computer up that you have to answer and you try to click out of it and you get the "baling!" sound? Anyways, I heard this sound, no lie, about 100 times before it wore me down enough to politely ask him to turn his sound off. I think if I didn't say anything, he might have still been there the next day, 350000 error sounds later, still clicking, still disrupting a library

He gave me an "are you serious mate?" Look when he turned around to hear my request. Equally funny and stupid in retrospect.
These kind of situations can be avoided by having your sound off, at all times, pls people.

I have considered setting an important notification to the classic ICQ "uh oh!" noise for when I'm one row over talking to my coworkers at work. It'd be funny the first few times
