australia could yet be bowled out for 350 or less, that lower-order looks like the sort that could easily either crumble, or put together a succession of very irritating partnerships. it all depends which india come out tomorrow. but with the arguable exception of clark (who got 44 in a tour match) they can all bat to a good standard, if not a very good one. mind you now i've said that haddin will get a ton or something
― 100 tons of hardrofl beyond zings (Just got offed), Thursday, 9 October 2008 11:57 (seventeen years ago)
also i'm gonna go for 2-1 scoreline to australia, but reverse that if india fire with the bat
― 100 tons of hardrofl beyond zings (Just got offed), Thursday, 9 October 2008 11:58 (seventeen years ago)
I think a lot depends on how well the likes of Lee and S Clarke feel comfortable against spin. My guess is not so much.
― Neil S, Thursday, 9 October 2008 12:04 (seventeen years ago)
well hopefully australia's lower-middle powerhaus of watson white haddin will preclude the need for tailend runs (like england expects much out of lol anderson sidebottom panesar), but as i say stuart clark made 44 primarily against spinners who had wrecked australia's top and middle order, and both lee and johnson know how to play
plus, this hasn't been a spinner's pitch

at least we will be gifted the spectacle of cameron white trying to outfox tendulkar et al
― 100 tons of hardrofl beyond zings (Just got offed), Thursday, 9 October 2008 12:09 (seventeen years ago)
Fair points all. And yes Tendulkar and co must be salivating! I reckon he'll pass Lara easily this match.
― Neil S, Thursday, 9 October 2008 12:10 (seventeen years ago)
yeah, he sure hasn't got the world's two best quick bowlers trying to stop him, 400 for the taking tbh
― 100 tons of hardrofl beyond zings (Just got offed), Thursday, 9 October 2008 12:13 (seventeen years ago)
:-P
He needs 77 I think to pass Lara's test run total. Seeing him make 400 would be pretty good though!
― Neil S, Thursday, 9 October 2008 12:14 (seventeen years ago)
ohhhhhh i thought that might be it but for some reason i also thought tendulkar was already ahead
yeah he'll do it some time this SERIES ;-)

― Oh noes! (SeekAltRoute), Monday, 13 October 2008 11:35 (seventeen years ago)

was there good footage of the Khan/Hayden incident? it sounds like it would make an A+ animated gif.
― wilter, Thursday, 23 October 2008 04:09 (seventeen years ago)
Not sure tbh. Anything involving Sreesanth dancing would make an A+ animated gif tho so there's probably tons of apposite material out there.
Anyway, I'm gwana bed, hopefully by the time I wake someone will have Nancy Kerriganned Krazy Krejza and Andrew Symonds will be on the next flight in.

If Australia get the runs tomorrow, it will be the most undeserved series draw in the history of forever. Fortunately, they won't. The real Ashes is coming up in a coupla weeks, can't wait.

What's he been saying now? Usual pre-ashes nonsense? In other news congrats to england for their glorious hong kong sixes win over canada.

HE SAID ENGLAND WILL WIN THE ASHES 5=0
― Pfunkboy Formerly Known As... (Herman G. Neuname), Monday, 10 November 2008 00:15 (seventeen years ago)
oops caps
and 5-0
God he's a berk. Like Sophia Gardens is a results pitch (if anyone other than the woeful Glamorgan is playing). Like either side is remotely capable of taking twenty at the Oval unless Monty develops something approaching variation; an arm ball, at least, would be nice. I'd incline to 1-1, maybe 2-1 England, myself, but the bat will dominate. Is it Lords, Sophia Gardens, Trent Bridge, Edgbaston, Oval? I know Old Trafford lost its spot (which is a spectacular case of the ECB shooting itself in the foot, given that that's the one strip that Harmison always looks the most terrifying bowler in the world on) the omission of Headingley is also less than bright in terms of actually wanting england to win games.
So England to win at Trent Bridge thanks to Jimmy Anderson, Aus at Lords thanks to Clark and Johnson, High scoring draws in Cardiff and at the Oval, so it's all down to Edgbaston. And Botham's a pillock.
― Matt, Monday, 10 November 2008 00:52 (seventeen years ago)
That makes sense. I will try to make my own prediction once I see how "the lads" fare in their titanic 2-Test clash with tonight's Border-Gavaskar champions.
― restraint and blindness (Just got offed), Monday, 10 November 2008 01:21 (seventeen years ago)
such ineptness yesterday. we had india 6 for 160-something and then took the foot off the throat because of the slow over rate. i reckon cricket aus bigwigs might've made ponting's decision for him, in which case they should resign if they want to put sponsors ahead of saving a series; but surely bowling watson off a short run would've been better than mr cricket's harmless trundling, clarke, white etc.
― motor city dumb ensemble (haitch), Monday, 10 November 2008 02:14 (seventeen years ago)
levelling the india series wouuld be worth ponting missing all the games vs the kiwis, imo.

SACK PONTING
