I had a dream last night where I was staying in a grubby beach house in Hawaii with a group of people including Sarah McLusky, my high school friend Amar, and tombot. We wanted to go buy alcoholic beverages but it was Sunday and the gas station lady said we'd have to drive out of the city to buy alcohol.

a few nights ago my flatmate, marianna lcl and i were going to go on vacation somewhere, and we drove for ages, and finally arrived and it was Crouch End. We spent the rest of the time dissing the place and then went home. It was disappointing.

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 11:42 (twenty-one years ago)

(for those unfamiliar with geography or where i live, Crouch End is like 10 minutes drive from my house in Holloway, london - hardly an exotic location)

ken c (ken c), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 11:44 (twenty-one years ago)

I like how in Daves dream i made a brief appearance and said something off color.

Chris 'The Nuts' V (Chris V), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 11:59 (twenty-one years ago)

This was a couple of months ago, but both in the same week.

1) I have to catch a plane from London back to Glasgow. SteveM is supposed to be driving me to the airport, but doesn't seem too fussed by the imminent departure time. In fact he decides to take a detour via his house just to 'pick something up' and I realise I will never get my plane. I hate SteveM.

2) There is some kind of network of walking tunnels under the streets of London, like the tube system for ramblers, with the same colour coding. Matt DC and I are wandering north to south. We pass through Piccadilly. I am having an OK time with MattDC. I hope we get to the pub, or somewhere.

Ally C (Ally C), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 12:32 (twenty-one years ago)

J0n Williams, reprazent! I had a dream about you lasty night - we were pissfarting around at some band venue or nightclub that had hardly anyone in it, just sort of being tards, chasing each other around the room and giggling a lot.

...no, I have no idea.

Trayce (trayce), Wednesday, 11 May 2005 22:34 (twenty-one years ago)

i made my mother a sonic youth themed park bench/picnic table for her 70th birthday. it was white with the cover of "goo" hand painted on one side and the word "revol" (which i don't think is even the name of a sonic youth song) on the other. the table part had a box built into it with sonic youth cassettes in it and a tape player. she didnt like it much. she doesn't like sonic youth and i don't like them that much either, really.

Haw, Evol is a SY album.

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Monday, 23 May 2005 12:34 (twenty-one years ago)

I dreamt that I went to an outside FAP, it was kinda like some wild campfire. Tom was there and so was Carsmile. I think there was some sort of weird curling game going on. I left after a while.

matos was in my dream a few nights ago. we were at a black-tie dinner party and we didn't know anyone else there.

cindy williams permafrost (Jody Beth Rosen), Monday, 23 May 2005 17:26 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night I dreamt I was in the back of a cab with Tom discussing Staveley Makepeace vs Lieutenant Pigeon. The debate was inconclusive.

Jerry the Nipper (Jerrynipper), Tuesday, 24 May 2005 07:29 (twenty-one years ago)

two weeks pass...
last night in my dream some people and i (including artskooldisko suzy!) ended up having dinner at a place that looked like a fancy wedding ballroom from the '40s. i was the first to point out that the menu featured a sandwich called "the momus," and suzy roffled heartily.

metal assembly (Jody Beth Rosen), Tuesday, 7 June 2005 13:48 (twenty-one years ago)

I dreamt I was in Leeds, England! Never been there, never likely to go.

Sam Glade, Thursday, 9 June 2005 13:26 (twenty-one years ago)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Thursday, 9 June 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i don't think there's a dreams thread on the noize board.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 9 June 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

i also don't remember whether or not there was a gigantic hamburger involved.

jaymc (jaymc), Thursday, 9 June 2005 14:20 (twenty-one years ago)

Last night some unknown bloke persuaded me to join him in breaking into a home in order to make pancakes! We climb through a window and I get cooking, he clears off.

Ned Raggett appears. It’s his home we’ve broken into, a digital recorder is missing (“of great sentimental value”) and he is seriously pissed off and not impressed with my story that I was only interested in making pancakes.

Somehow I manage to find and return the recorder, and offer profound apologies; Ned shakes my hand but can barely disguise his contempt. I awake feeling uneasy and unsettled. Be afraid of the wrath of Ned Raggett (and pancakes are on me when he’s in A’dam).

NOISE DREAMZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

Ian John50n (orion), Sunday, 12 June 2005 17:54 (twenty-one years ago)

This morning I dreamed it was Christmas day, and my wife and I had adopted all the ILXors who are in the Literati tournament, so there were a bunch of little kids running around -- Huk, Gygax, Julia, Dingleberry, etc. -- and a coworker I despised from my Ole Miss days showed up at the house to give me a present. I was polite to him but told him we were busy having Christmas with the kids.

Rock Hardy (Rock Hardy), Wednesday, 22 June 2005 18:38 (twenty-one years ago)

i'm record shopping with mark p. he pulls out a stranglers album & goes "I'M BUYING THIS AND WE'RE GOING HOME AND LISTENING TO THE WHOLE THING RIGHT NOW."

s1ocki (slutsky), Monday, 4 July 2005 19:01 (twenty years ago)

Bump. I believe someone may be looking for this thread...

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 08:36 (twenty years ago)

Thanks ailsa :-/

So I'm talking about music with this guy I don't think I know. I'm spouting some guff about major chords/scales and power chords and this guy starts shouting at me that I have no concept of melody. I'm saying "I'll get to melody, give me a fucking minute" and he's as good as dismissed me - he half turns away from me and says "You can't call it music without melody".
Then I realise he's got a guitar. He picks up this brass slide, places it on the 3rd fret and starts strumming and saying "This is a G, this is a C, this is an F" and I'm shouting "THEY ALL SOUND THE SAME! FUCK MELODY THERE ISN'T EVEN A TUNE THERE" or something similar. He smiles, hands me the guitar and quietly says "Fine, you show me how to play an F then" and I CAN'T REMEMBER HOW. I'm fumbling my fingers all over the place and remembering a picture in a chord book that seems to suggest I need at least six fingers and the whole time I'm doing this I'm thinking "If I can't play this F properly I've lost the argument."

The next morning at breakfast I'm relaying this bizarreness to my wife and it isn't until I repeat the "You can't call it music without melody" line that I realise I HAVE BEEN DREAMING ABOUT GEIR HONGRO.

Help

Onimo (GerryNemo), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 09:39 (twenty years ago)

scotstvo (scotstvo), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 10:11 (twenty years ago)

i don't understand.

g-kit (g-kit), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 10:12 (twenty years ago)

Thank you. I was worried it wouldn't seem as funny without beer and accompanying guffawing around the table, but, yes, it does.

(I can't believe you actually posted it though. Well done.)

ailsa (ailsa), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 10:16 (twenty years ago)

I had some vague dream about housesitting for nickalicious and wondering if I would accidentally stumble onto his stash but I don't remember much else. Sorry.

n/a (Nick A.), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 13:11 (twenty years ago)

I dreamt that nickalicious lived on the same floor as me and he was pissed off that the electricity had gone because it meant he couldn't finish the script to "The Shawshank Redemption 3" on time.

Dom Passantino (Dom Passantino), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 13:17 (twenty years ago)

roxymuzak (roxymuzak), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 13:29 (twenty years ago)

I had a dream last night that Tuomas was working at a makeup counter at a mall, and insisted that I needed a makeover. He put a lot of bright metallic purple eyeshadow on me, which sounds kind of horrific but in the dream I thought I looked fantastic.

Leon C. (Ex Leon), Tuesday, 12 July 2005 13:32 (twenty years ago)

i don't think i've ever dreamt about an ilxor! i had a disturbing dream last night though that a fundie christian group paid for a channel on which they showed a 24/7 repeating loop of botched abortions with occasional intertitles like "So, you liberals think abortions should be legalized? Look at the horror you're allowing to happen EVERY DAY IN AMERICA."

joseph (joseph), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:13 (twenty years ago)

I too, have never dreamt about an ILXOR, and my dreams are far too weird to post anyway!

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:15 (twenty years ago)

I haven't dreamt in months. What does this mean?

I'd still rather be in Tokyo (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:16 (twenty years ago)

you're a zombie?

joseph (joseph), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:16 (twenty years ago)

You have either achieved enlightenment or you're under too much stress.

Orbit (Orbit), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:17 (twenty years ago)

That would explain...other things, too. Thanks.

I'd still rather be in Tokyo (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:17 (twenty years ago)

Oh dear, between this and the twitching eyelid thread, ILX is constantly diagnosing me with severe stress! BUT I don't feel stressed.

I'd still rather be in Tokyo (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:18 (twenty years ago)

I might be stressed about being stressed and not knowing it, I'm not sure.

I'd still rather be in Tokyo (nordicskilla), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:19 (twenty years ago)

i stand by my zombie diagnosis.

joseph (joseph), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 04:20 (twenty years ago)

you are smoking loads of weed?

Tracer Hand (tracerhand), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 11:43 (twenty years ago)

heavy sleeper? Which I thought would be down to lack of stress?

although i'm no expert and therefore you shouldn't disregard the zombie possibility

Ste (Fuzzy), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 11:51 (twenty years ago)

These explanations about dreams, are they in anyway correct? For instance, the dreams where your teeth rot or come out is supposed to mean you’re not happy with yourself physically. If they are remotely true, does anyone know what it means when animals keep biting you? It happens to me all the time.

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 12:33 (twenty years ago)

From http://www.soulfuture.com/dream_dictionary/symbols_a/animal_dream_dictionary.asp

Being bitten or attacked by an animal may suggest feeling hunted, vulnerable or doubting your own strength

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 12:41 (twenty years ago)

oh dear!

not-goodwin (not-goodwin), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 12:43 (twenty years ago)

There are lots of lists of specific animals as well so you should look up whatever animals you dream of.

There is a school of thought that the animals represent different people in your life, particularly if you dream of a variety of animals attacking you.

(not that I necessarily believe any of it)

I started telling my brother about a recurring dream I'd been having lately and he finished the story off for me because he was having the EXACT SAME DREAM - kind of freaked me out tbh

Onimo (GerryNemo), Wednesday, 13 July 2005 12:52 (twenty years ago)

particularly if you dream of a variety of animals attacking you

Some of the ones so far, panther, dog, cat, otter, rat, and finally, moose (?)

Bizarre to say the least. I’ll have a good look at the site, thanks.

I bet it freaked you out, your brother finishing your dream story. Are you a similar age?
