Protesting this one because it was a Tijuana BCMX staple before migrating north 150 miles.

For LA I'd submit Pink's famous mustard, chili, nacho cheese & onions double dog (a la Huell Howser).

Chicago is fine but I feel there's fundamentally too much stuff in the bun, the dill pickle spear especially is just one too many body at the orgy

Iirc one of the tenets of making Chicago dogs is "dress the sausage, not the bun."

Chicago Dog doesn't even want to be around anymore, but it got my vote.

Chili and bacon mostly stretch a hot dog along its fundamental dimension. Chicago pickle salad adds at least 3 new dimensions of flavor, and these all hold their own against the very intense flavor of the heavily salted animal bits tube.
