I think the (not so) secret of the Chicago dog is that Vienna Beef makes the best dogs.

I'm flipping through the recent "Raw Dog" book and it drags the Chicago Dog through the garden as it were. Vienna Beef Factory also apparently has a Hot Dog University?

Voted for the amazing Sonora because I'm guessing a lot of you guys don't get to Tucson much and haven't had one. But that really is something you see all over town and they really are good.

I find anything wrapped in bacon to be a bit of a cheat, since bacon is the best and makes everything better and is often the best thing about whatever it is/on/around.

Iirc one of the tenets of making Chicago dogs is "dress the sausage, not the bun."

Chicago Dog doesn't even want to be around anymore, but it got my vote.

Chili and bacon mostly stretch a hot dog along its fundamental dimension. Chicago pickle salad adds at least 3 new dimensions of flavor, and these all hold their own against the very intense flavor of the heavily salted animal bits tube.
