Great-Tasting Burger Perceptions (Old Lunch), Monday, 18 December 2023 19:08 (two years ago)

He's not that famous but his face is certainly familiar, British actor Oscar Quitak, who is 97. Also he was married for 62 years to the actress Andree Melly, who died in 2020, and who was George Melly's sister!

Nine Inch Males (Tom D.), Friday, 22 December 2023 19:51 (two years ago)

Andree Melly was a regular on Hancock’s Half Hour and appeared in Hammer’s Brides of Dracula. I knew her nephew in the 1990s and he told me that his aunt was totally nonplussed about being regularly contacted by Hammer fans asking her about a job of work 35 years ago. She didn’t want to know about fandom or conventions and I don’t think she ever really changed her mind.

I've always found it surprising when actors don't enjoy appreciation of their work.

I keep seeing the name Troy Kennedy Martin in TV adverts for the film, "Ferrari", and I keep thinking, "Is he still alive?" But he isn't, he died on 2009. However his brother, Ian Kennedy Martin, the guy who created "The Sweeney", is. He's 87.

Nine Inch Males (Tom D.), Monday, 25 December 2023 00:09 (two years ago)

Could have sworn Petula Clark died a few years back, but still with us at 91.

Roy Haynes, 98.

Reminded of Roy because he and Petula are two of the only artists I know of whose recording careers began in the 1940s.

the Corey thing may be a coping mechanism, viz. knowledge of Feldman's premature death is easier to process than knowledge of "watch Corey twerk

Roy Haynes, 98.

trumpeter Ray Anthony (102) made his recording debut in 1940 as a member of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. but if you're alive in 2024 and you've heard of Ray Anthony, then the only thing you're likely to know about him is that he's really fucking old

I was 50/50 on whether Bruce Vilanch was still alive until I googled him this morning

Marshall Allen is on recordings from 1949! I had no idea.
