The 9th century Latin work Historia Brittonum (History of the Britons) says that Ireland was settled by three groups of people from the Iberian Peninsula. There is a Smith guy on the DNA database of the lab I used who it states is such a close match that he is a first cousin. I thought bullshit I'm not related to any Smiths. But then I looked at his family tree on the website and saw my mum's name on there and various uncles. Then I remembered my auntie Joan had a kid in the UK which she gave up for adoption before moving back to Dublin and this is him. I can't properly access this part of their DNA service because it's paywalled and I'm not paying for membership. But it does prove their lab work is legit.
