Unlike with previous polls -- where I've gone with the contenders in the top 2,000 films -- I ended up going with the 1923 titles that made up the top 10,000 on the overall list, in order to fill the options out.

Do they say why they count Nosferatu as 1923 instead of 1922?

Cops, Foolish Wives, Nosferatu, Nanook, and Dr. Mabuse should all be 1922.

FWIW, my 1922 favorites in roughly descending order:

Nosferatu [F.W. Murnau]
Nanook of the North [Robert Flaherty]
Foolish Wives [Erich von Stroheim]
Cops [Buster Keaton]
Dr. Mabuse, der Spieler [Fritz Lang]

I only had two picks for 1923 (which aren't listed above - maybe TSPDT is off by a year?):

Safety Last! [Fred C. Newmeyer & Sam Taylor]
Our Hospitality [Buster Keaton]

Crap. I must have grabbed the wrong year from the chart. Ignore this poll; I’ll redo it tomorrow
