Weird to me that the punctuation in the payoff here is so totally off that I didn't understand it but no one in the replies seems to have had that trouble. Am I just old?

Alba, Tuesday, 10 October 2023 02:53 (two years ago)

Yeah it sounds like an odd request

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Tuesday, 10 October 2023 10:57 (two years ago)

lag∞n, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 03:21 (two years ago)

calling it discourse is maybe a bit of a stretch

It's similar to the innovations e.e. cummings brought to poetry, but with a modern spin.

interesting to see how Thierry Breton's stepping in and using the EU's new rules on online media to threaten Musk plays out. he's set his blue-ticks on them and is trying to stonewall, but my gut reaction is they won't be fucked with on this.

Twitter has mostly been pretty good on the week's events. Have seen pics/footage of pro-Palestine protests in many parts of the world, for example.

Many posters have done very well to counter the current narratives. It's certainly coming through to me.

xyzzzz__, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 09:19 (two years ago)

i dunno. the number of beheading videos and astroturfed hashtags i've seen is higher than ideal.

sean gramophone, Wednesday, 11 October 2023 14:37 (two years ago)

the level of warmongering on there combined with all the misinformation is too much for me, tho yeah there is more room for other views on there than say the tv news, also just the whole israel-palistine situation is so awful that i dont really want to consume endless info on it regardless of its political slant or quality

I’ve always been very careful about who I follow or allow to follow me so my bad experiences so far have been limited to seeing TERF shite (which is bad enough) but I will not watch any of the horrible Middle East snuff clips doing the rounds or explore I/P stuff from bots/new accounts/trolls. I’ve had over a decade of figuring out who is or isn’t full of shit.

Even after 9/11 there were cursory attempts to protect Muslims from collective blame

I’m not seeing that here

Beyond Goo and Evol (President Keyes), Wednesday, 11 October 2023 17:25 (two years ago)

i've noticed my usage really dropping off in the last month or so. and not even for morals or mental health reasons, more just boredom with it, lack of engagement (I don't know if "shadowbanning" is real but I did notice that after I got banned for impersonating Elon Musk in the post-bluecheck mania and saying that the Twitter team was hard at work so "Two Against Nature" by Steely Dan would autoplay while you were using the app my engagements and views of my tweets were down radically)

which actually might be a worse sign for the platform, indifference is deadlier than outrage

Blues Guitar Solo Heatmap (Free Download) (upper mississippi sh@kedown), Wednesday, 11 October 2023 18:52 (two years ago)

yeah I just checked and I'm seeing all of one single tweet about the baseball games over the last few hours which given the people I follow is pretty surprising. its not at all like previous years. no one wants to tweet these days

frogbs, Thursday, 12 October 2023 03:56 (two years ago)

Ad tweets are showing up in my timeline again, I hope adblock and ublock can keep up with filtering those out. It took a couple of weeks last time Twxttxr made a change.

is anyone else seeing "RT" at the start of every retweet like it's 2010 again?

XP GOT A WHOLE LOTTA NED *bwroaur* "it's time to get the NED out!" jk i like the ned for sure.

yeah for me it's like ned/gaiman duopoly enterprise, but the gaimans are v perseverative, ned is funny and informative.

i am so bad at socials, i ventured into mastodon in a similar non-custodial non-curated way and it is now controlled by a nice enough person i will call antlady-- i have no idea why she is there. but i learned a bit about bugs.

i'd meet u where u are, but that place really sucks (Hunt3r), Friday, 13 October 2023 18:46 (two years ago)

xxp yup the original retrofit of "RT" as real links in the table is still pretty fundamental to how retweets work in the backend. so i'm sure this is a bug (looks like it's fixed now).

𝔠𝔞𝔢𝔨 (caek), Friday, 13 October 2023 18:50 (two years ago)
