does anyone really care how many likes some tweet got, feel like it works the other way around if you see a tweet has a ton of interactions then maybe you look at the comments

Who knows the intent but it seems like one thing this would do hide how few interactions a lot of the blue-check posts they're boosting actually have. I think it's true people are more likely to click on things that already have a lot of engagement, so hiding the numbers on the blue-check posts could theoretically help them get more engagement by making it less obvious what losers they are? Anyway, that plus the ad thing feels like an effort to turn Twitter from something more like a tool you could use into a stream of passive content forced on you regardless of your interest. (With the caveat that you can always just quit, of course.)

look there's a dopamine rush associated with getting a ton of likes and RTs making that shit not matter is just gonna further disincentivize users from actually trying to make good shit. i mean like it or not the gamification is sorta central to the platform

I went for months feeling like Twitter was going to basically stay the same for normal users even while Musk kept getting weirder and bitterer but I have to say, in the last few weeks there is really noticeably more right-wing troll content in my "For You" tab, and just plain LESS in my "Following" tab, presumably because a lot of people I follow are no longer posting.

As long as the fascist neo-nazi content is saturating the rest of the platform, but isn’t right on my feed, I’ll keep using it, eh?

yea I opened it last night what with Sunday Night Football and a MLB playoff game going at the same time, usually it's pretty active then but I'm getting like 5-6 new "posts" every 10 minutes, nothing like what it used to be
